After watching her 3 performances, I've come to believe Sydnie doesn't sing a song: she becomes the song and the song becomes her. They are one unit. That's why her performances feel so personal.
I still have goosebumps even after I watched this more than a hundred times and listened to countless reactions. She's truly an artist. She was able to stir emotions in a timeless way. Thank you for this reaction. Please react to her Semi-Final & Grand Final performances, in that order, and be amazed more. She doesn't stop to surprise and amaze her listeners.
This was Sydnie's last shot. If she didn't do well she was going to give up show business. She was taking courses to become a personal trainer. Now, she going on a 15 city tour in Britain with a CD comiong out in September
She revamped the song from one of childhood optimism to one of adult angst, just by changing "only" to "always" and by altering the musicality of the end phrasing. I would have given her the golden buzzer just for personality and humor before she ever sang a note.
Thanks for a great reaction. Sydnie gets better with My Way and finally brings it all home by singing Over the Rainbow. Yes, she is classically trained trained, go to Performing Arts College in London. She has sang and played on cruise ships and has performed in the play Lazarus in Germany. She realized that her dreams were fading, as being 28 without a solid career, just playing hit and miss, is what prompted her to try BGT. She is brilliant. Thanks again.
Thanks for the reaction. You were right about her training. She had been in a couple of plays in London and Germany before, and in Royal Caribbean cruise ship shows in the past, but could never attain starring roles in West End productions. She was about to give up, but gave BGT her last shot. This version of the song was originally sung by Marisha Wallace 4 years ago as a fundraiser during Covid and all the theaters were closed. Sydnie certainly gave it new life with her emotional moments.
She was on a talk show after this performance and she credited Marisa Wallace with creating that version of the song that Sydnie added a few of her own touches to and she said she was scared because unlike the theatre auditions she was used to where she would try for a part as a character this time she was going on stage as herself but I feel that was exactly her key to success ...being her best self made the difference...Yo you need to check out her other songs on the show...thanks for sharing this with us ...Karl from eastern Canada👍👍👍🍁🍁🍁
That's a must! She shapes it so well. Her song in the final is equally special: "Over the Rainbow." Loren Allred's cover of the Hawaiian artist's tune, with Loren's approval, since Loren is Sydnie's favourite singer.
Yo, finally got to watch this. Very impressive take on this song. Always interesting how a strong speaking accent transforms to a beautiful singing voice.
Your Video may have been choppy but her Voice wasn't. She had a dream since she was 11 to be a Professional Singer. As an Adult she tried many Talent Shows and not just in the UK but she got nowhere. BGT was her last chance. If she failed she would give up her dream. In her next song singing My Way, she sang it Her Way. She is Beautiful and an Amazing Singer.
Her breath was choppy and as I pointed out that was on purpose for emotional effect….proven when she slipped back into that voice coming right off a power note….very hard to do….she deserves success. ✌️ 🍻
Gday Mike and YO. I agree the breathy thing is a musical theatre type of technique used In these emotional (sing to the sky) type songs- Lea Salonga (Disney Princess woman) does this a lot too. I think also once you see Sydney do her other two performances you realise it isn’t nerves. Thanks for doing this - I mean I see a Sydney Christmas every year but not every one has that privilege 😂 sorry, couldn’t help that 😂 ❤

❤ Yes, Dr Kap has phenomenal taste in music and is a legend! Sydnie is one of the best unknown vocal artists to come out of BGT in a long time. ❤ She is also soooo damned funny and has an amazing personality!
It's a Westend/Broadway style of singing..that is quite a "clean" style. Unlike many, it seems, I knew this song not from the original play but from a Streisand album. Her live rendition from 1978 is also incredible
Never watched you before, but have to say that I won't ever again because I've never seen anyone so completely miss the point of a performance and why it is brilliant... I've watched her audition more times than any other, and each time am completely blown away. Your reaction was like watching a color blind person try to describe a van Gogh painting
No matter how often you listen to her three songs the emotion transfers from her to you each time and you are brought and kept in the moment. I know she doesn't realize what she is doing because Loren Allred is her idol but when you listen to Loren you feel nothing despite her competence.
@@lawrenceb5236 If you have something constructive to say pose it as a comment that adds value as your opinion, not as an uneducated negative comment on someone else's opinion, little man.
@@fluffymuffi1 3 weeks ago I posted: Erica, why don’t you listen to Loren singing “Vivo per Lei” with Andrea Bocelli or “I Hear Your Voice”, and then tell me she doesn’t make you feel anything. You never answered. So how does it feel to not only disparage Loren but also Sydnie by saying she doesn’t know what she is doing, and then me by calling me “Little Man”. I don’t recall me saying anything personal to you, just your statement. But your true colors have already been shown.
No shit! Pay the monthly premium. Also, when you are several months behind in a viral video, you really need to educate yourself about the artist prior to listening to the song.
He isn’t several months behind. He releases his videos early to members and we have access to them prior to the general public. Could you maybe think of something nice to say? I mean you’re here right- most reactors know jack shit about music. Michael is the opposite of that.
