When steve played with Frank zappa in the early 80s, he was credited on albums as "Stunt Guitar," and Zappa referred to steve as his little Italian virtuoso.
I got to meet Steve with my kids, had a great time. I also have a Ibanez 20th Jem Anniversary just like he's playing in the video (the thing is HEAVY!!!!) signed by him!!!! Limited to only 200 sold in North America, now it's a family heirloom 😊 We love Steve Vai!!!!!!!! 🤟😖🤘
Totally awesome! .. I met him way back in the 90's when he played at the 1st Avenue Bar in downtown Minneapolis .. super nice guy, as was the rest of his band. Great people! .. so incredibly talented and interesting people too. Just amazing people and Steve Vai is absolutely the GOAT of guitar in my book. Have loved his stuff for many many years.
When I was 13, I was supposed to go see a show from this tour! It was going to be my very first concert! But I wad failing my math class and my parents grounded me. When I got to my first year of college, a friend of mine showed me this concert DVD, and I realized this was the tour I missed all those years prior, and I still have never forgiven my parents for it😂 But it worked out, they got me tickets to the Teeth of the Hydra tour for my birthday, so it's all good now
Steve Vai is a guitar god. You can see him in the 1986 movie Crossroads, where he performs as the Devil's musician in the scene straight out of music myth of challenging the Devil to a music duel. The scene was also just like Stanly Daniels "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Crossroads is a great film if you are into music, The Blues and guitar. If you want some amazing violin (and mandolin) playing, you should check out Jeff Plewman, better known under his stage name of Nash the Slash. He has played with Gary Numan, and The Talking Heads, among others, and did the soundtrack to a number of movies.
Harri, you should check out a Frank Zappa and Steve Vai's awesome duet on the song Stevie's Spanking, it's a true story about a young Steve Vai's escapades with a groupie
Have you seen Steve in the movie "Crossroads"? An up and coming blues guitarist (Ralph Macchio) has to play against Steve who represents the devil in a guitar duel to save his friends soul. There are many video clips of this segment of the movie. In fact, I'm going to watch it again now.
