Vai - Sky . Dude is wild man. Insane level of guitarist that is renowned for playing Frank Zappa's "impossible lines"

Also named stunt guitarist in the credits and to be picky it was "impossible guitar parts" As you wrote it´s Vai in the sky. My first son´s birthabout song..allways brings happy tears. Music is the best...from the bus.

Thanks for taking the time out to watch a man that is not only a great guitarist, but a great entertainer, inspiring personality, and a modern day composer. For the Love of God is one of the most beautiful melodies written and he plays it so masterfully. There are many guitar greats out there that have various styles and I could give you an exhaustive list, but there is one that most refer to as the best alive and his name is Guthrie Govan. He has a song called "Fives" you should check out.

Vai RHYMES with Sky and Eye is correct. Steve Vai grew up 4 miles from me and is Beyond amazing both as a guitar god and as a person

That's a Steve Vai Ibanez guitar. He designed it and many others at the behest of Ibanez guitar co. Joe Satriani also plays Ibanez guitars designed by himself.

You should seriously check out Steve Vai’s guitar teacher, Joe Satriani. Couple of great live songs, Satch, boogie, or Circles.

Hendrix was the seed that started a LOT of other guitarists off. He did things with a guitar that nobody thought possible at the time. He had the envy of all the other top players like Eric Clapton. He got that good in a TOTALLY different era, in regards to how easy it is to learn, and what to learn. Hendrix was a groundbreaker. He also died way too young, at 27. The amount of players that Hendrix has inspired, is ridiculous. Vai is just one of them. When it comes to creative output, like songs, you can't really measure them in a scientific way to decide who's better than who. It's all subjective, and personal taste. Sometimes the song really works for you, sometimes it doesn't. On a technical level, Vai is LIGHTYEARS ahead of Hendrix. He had MUCH more to learn from, and really nail his technique. He had a better suited instrument, in an Ibanez with a Floyd Rose floating bridge, to this style of music. He's currently 64 years old. He's been alive longer that TWICE Hendrix. He's constantly pushing his limits. Even parts that sound "relatively" simple, are deceptively complex to play. Another player very similar to Steve Vai, is Joe Satriani (Satch). Vai was one of Satch's students early on. You need to check out an early G3 song (G3 = 3 guitarists). It's Vai, Satch, and Eric Johnson all touring together, each having their own sets, before they play together in the final set. Eric Johnson is a guitarist's guitarist. He's smooth. He's so different from Vai and Satch in terms of style, but the contrast is AMAZING. I started learning guitar at 16. I'm 52 now. I'm nowhere near these guys, because I haven't applied myself. These guys are so extra, that I need to be in the mood to appreciate them, and only in small doses.

If you really want to see something insane with Vai , check out the video for his song called Knappsack. He injured his shoulder & hand and couldn't use his right hand to play guitar. He plays the entire song with just his left hand ! It will blow your mind.

Thank you to Robert for recommending this video of this song. Most react to the version with the orchestra which is good but i prefer a version like this which is closer to the original song.

Yes this is definitely the best live version! I hate that everyone reacts to the orchestra one and while it´s good it's nowhere near as emotional as this one. Steve plays to perfection on this!

I've never acquired a vai album. I know he's a great guitarist and all but he tends to rely on smoke and mirrors- effects, whammy and so on. Another thing I never connect with the song there's no direction it's as if some ppl think a melody alone will suffice and he really hammered that melody in our heads. Huh I didn't hear sweep picking. Got to say this song while having God in the title felt soulless. Oddly the ppl that make statements that yngwie music sounds emotionless tend to be vai fans! I think yngwie is throwback to another time and chooses his music with emotion and a story as top priority, no special effects and no mindless fills for the sake of filling time. Steve is great to impress your friends in highschool but bring yngwie if you are ever in the position to impress a King! Bro I hope you read this in a real fan of Jamaican reggae you and the world need to be exposed to. If your interested you'd be unique on RU-vid let me know.
