I am turning 70 years old in a few months. I live in Manhattan and went to the New York City discos often. I never knew that he was controversial I just dance to the music which he provided so well! I missed the late 70s and 80s and the Disco era. I am sure that he is singing in heaven!
Patrick Cowley and Sylvester kept me alive when the world said no to me. Gay, poor, handsome (others called me that) and looking to move on. I did. The music always feels good.
He sure did and one of them! I met him in San Francisco we were all dancing, drinking etc. I'm still dancing to this jam right out of the gate. 75 years and still bopping
And the mixing engineer too. When this song was played, people rushed to the dance floor. I was in Toronto Canada and San Francisco in the early 80's disco clubs. Really love this song.
I remember friends in the US army getting me into one of their clubs in Seoul and when this came on it almost took the roof of the house - in 2016. Sylvester - know that very few artists can get that kind of reaction 35 years later and that David Bowie and Elton John have both referred to your genius. Heaven is a better place with you there.
How can you not love Sylvester? I play his music over and over and never tire of it. Brings joy into this troubled world! Even though he has sadly departed from this world, he will remain immortal through his music.
Sylvester in the clubs in the 70s was unbelievable the floors filled with his music still gives me chills hearing him absolutely loved him then and now RIP Disco Queen 💕💕💕💕
I partied in a club called Circus in West Hollywood... I remember this song in particular they put poppers in the air conditioner vents.. talk about the dance floor going wild..
Saw him perform at Backstreet Atlanta front row and center in 1982. No lip-synching. I was only 19 years old and that was one already off my bucket list. Legend!
Blessed to see the Phenomenal Sylvester twice, once at a club called Tracks in Denver and again at the Bourse Building in Philadelphia, Pa. He made me feel MIGHTY REAL! Rest in Peace SYLVESTER!

As a 21 year old dj I play disco for a respect of music life sexuality and all genders. my goal is to bring disco back to life. I am proud to be a Dj because I love the joy disco brought to people back then. Hopefully my generation will someday bring all jonras of music back. I will be live on tick tock very soon. my name will be a surprise till I go live. well.. I’m gonna keep enjoying Sylvester’s music.
Sylvester!! A Star!!! A gay pioneer!! A brave gay man of color Nothing but respect for Sylvester, and his music that helped shift the culture Bravely living his truth, and bringing joy to millions Gone way too soon! Hes in the stars shining every night Resting in Paradise
Amazingly strong voice. Clearly not reaching up for the high notes or trying to push himself down to the low notes. He lets the tones come to him naturally, which seldom or never come without hard training. This kindof "relaxed" vocals that just floats on the wave of the music is amazing.
Thomas Lee,saw the Phenomenal Sylvester twice, once at a club called Tracks in Denver and again at the Bourse Building in Philadelphia, Pa. He made me feel MIGHTY REAL!
As A DJ this is the last song I play while breaking down and packing up to go home. People love it..My real last song before beakdown is The Dance Is Over by the Shirelles. I can't leave it there so I put on the 12" long version by Sylvester.
I first heard this song when I was about 10yrs old 💕 by the time I was 15 & got away with it 🙈I was in a nightclub dancing all around the dance floor most amazing voice & music gotta sing along too xxx still doing it to this day & in my 50’s 😜 Always remembered Sylvester “You make me feel mighty real” 💖

I am so blessed to b one of the few people who can remember seeing Sylvester on a late night talk show, I think arsenio hall and being his true self. I grew up in Chicago during the house music and disco craze and I'm so happy for it. RIP SYLVESTER
