Agree. Considering the character is the lady boss who has the financial capacity to afford luxuries. She mixes and matches luxury to high street brands like Topshop, Zara. Emily's character is the one who splurges on luxury beyond her means. Her credit cards would have been all maxed out after. That's why Emily (the character) lacks the feeling of true happiness. She instead cover her emptiness through expensive and screaming OOTDs, fake selfies and even stealing other person's boyfriend.

How is that interesting... It's pretty obvious. That's how she should dress as a boss. Emily's style is chaos, or rather no style. Just like she has no personality.

@@ba2988 it was just something I found interesting. Especially since I and a lot of other people found Sylvie the most relatable character. Clothing definitely plays a part in how characters are built.

@@TheErinmaui9 I hate that there is no backstory to Emily's fashion choices. As you say Sylvie's makes sense, but with Emily we are supposed to just ignore the fact she wears Chanel and other luxury brands yet balks at the price of that Baguette handbag in Season 2. I saw a quote from the costume designer who said Michael Patrick King responded badly to some outfit choices she pulled at first as they weren't exciting enough and said that their world is a "fantasy." But honestly I think that's a very lazy way to approach costume design. Not to mention he is kind of acting like he knows more than the costume designer which would annoy me. I'd rather see Emily wear mass-market brands or (designer collabs that are cheaper) in the same messy, colourful way as at least that would make sense with her budget and age.

well we have to see that Emily is not French, so naturally has a different style. not sure if Americans dress this colourful, but bucket hats are def an American thing for me.

I actually like Emily's style too. It suits her. Her moto is "Ringarde" meaning Tacky, and her style is definitely that, so it's well done.

I love Sylvie too! Saw an interview of EIP's costume designers and they said they do not care much about reality when styling the casts.

The name "Philippine" isn't linked to the country but is the female version of the name "Philippe'' ( ex: Claude/Claudine.....) 🙂

I actually think you are 100% right, she has that petite slim frame that makes most clothes look effortless. Ironically I also think that some her outfits would actually look incredible on many different body types. I also think that Silvie was a little bit too thin for some of the outfits. A more voluptuous woman would look sexier in many of them. I know it's not a contest, I'm just saying that they dressed Silvie often in a hourglass silhouette but she had little curves to fill the shape out to make it look like it's supposed to look.
