I added a .177 cal. pellet to the nose of the canopy held in place with silicone . I also removed the tail supports. Now light wind is less of a problem. This dose come with draw backs slow it FWD drifts all the time & reverse is slower but fwd speed is much faster.
This is an odd helicopter because it's a single rotor with no cyclic roll. Because heck, back in the day there were even coaxial helicopters that actually had swash assemblies that supported cyclic roll.
I have never flown single blade copters but they always look a little fidgety when I see someone flying them. The tail seems to move around alot and looks like a second away from being totally out of control! lol
Yeah, they are not as stable as a coaxial heli, or quadcopter, but they can be really fast and nimble because of only having one blade. "Tail wag" is generally due to gyro settings, but yeah, it happens a lot... it's a delicate dance to get the tail motor/prop to spin at just the right speed in order to counter the rotational movement from the main prop, but not over or under do it. Check out the new Blade 200 SR X though... it is a single rotor heli with 6-axis stabilization (they call it "SAFE Technology"). It looks *really* impressive and stable. I plan to get one when they come back in stock. :)
I have bought at least a half a dozen syma f-3 4ch and a syma s107 3 ch, and a syma f1 armour single blade 3 ch. They make great helicopters. I learned on them. Air hogs was cool, but syma is better.
all in all i have found the desire for better rc aircraft will ultimately start costing more than the 25 dollars that got me hooked on this hobby again lol. I am going to start making money off my video uploads, I started doing it just for fun at first, but if they want me to keep what I am doing, and pay me something for it I decided why not. lol
I have, but it was awhile ago, and my collection has grown quite a bit since then. Yeah, the transmitter looks a bit weird but I think the design's nice. Indeed, I prefer the classic ones (silverlit...). Is it durable (like can it take several shoks)? Anyway, nice review :D
Thanks, glad you liked it! It is fairly durable... I have crashed it a few times, and no damage done. But it is probably not as durable as, say, a quadcopter, because it has more small moving parts.
ach... I tried this thing and it drifts to the left (not turns... just drifts... or strafes), how do I calibrate it so it doesn't? the trim only helps with turning it seems.
+NotUsingMyName Hmm, that's probably due to some sort of bend or misalignment in the hardware, and you'd have to fix it in the hardware. I wouldn't even know where to begin looking. You might be able to offset it by adding a bit of weight to the right side of the landing gear.
You can take the arm that's fixed to the frame that connects to the swash plate on the left side of the helicopter and adjust it. Disconnect it from the swash plate and twist it. clockwise rotations make it shorter. CCW rotations make it longer. If it's drifting left make it longer. If it's drifting right make it shorter. Do only 1 360 turn of the arm at a time and reconnect it and see how it flies. You shouldn't have any trouble trimming it out manually this way and it's the only way to do it. Be careful though not to damage or bend the swash plate. Very hard to get new F4 and F3 parts these days. Both have been out of production for awhile. As a side note, the F4 uses the same transmitter language as most newer Syma S31 and S33 coaxial helicopters and you can use the larger transmitter from those large coaxials to fly the little F4. Another side note. The Blades, Blade grips, fly bar and swash plate and all the small linkage parts are all identical to the 4 channel Syma F3. Those parts along with the tail rotor are all interchangeable. Final note. Stock 200mah batteries from the Syma X4, X11 and X13 will fit in the F4 with no modification and fit in the battery tray perfect. Adds a little extra flying time over the stock 150mah battery borrowed from the Syma X2.
I think the syma 107 flys better ,but the 107 is a indoor copter ,does the f4 Hans free Hoover ,I think my next copter will be the 911 i saw on eBay..it seems to have less problems
The S107G flies more stable, because it is coaxial, but the F4 is faster and more maneuverable. It is also 4ch, whereas the 107 is 3ch. If by the "911" you mean the WLToys V911, I have a review of that too, and it's a great heli. Definitely better than this F4.
Currently, it is definitely quadcopters. They are just so versatile. They can be flown in small areas, or big areas. During the day, and some of them can fly at night. You can fly them slow, or fast, or just hover. So many possibilities. I love planes too, but they require bigger areas, and you have to always keep them moving, so it's a bit more "hectic" to fly them. Good question bud! :)
Yeah quads are definitely my favorite too all of what you said is exactly what I would say and also they can handle vast amounts of winds like the alias :)
Dewy Larsen so true that they are a little less agile but even the smaller ones too maybe. I have the x6 hexacopter by Art Tech and I find it to be less agile than the quads and it's pretty small! I think 6 propellers are more ideal for mounting or lifting more weight.
Flyin' Ryan RC I PROMISE you, would be much happier with the F3. My son has one, it's basically a V911 / Solo Pro clone but a very good flyer 4 channel, I LOVE the look of it and has a nice full size radio, is pretty quick, and has dual rates. I, Myself have an Syma F1 Firey Dragon which I love, also full size radio, dual rates, 3 channel can be upgraded to 4 channel, really great heli.
Need some help. I tried starting the Syms F4 Assault 2.4g. Seems that I made all right. New batteries, charging for almost 2 hours in the computer. So what do I do wrong????
Ryan: I have been trying to get a recommendation from you on a Helicopter. I will give it one more try. My first was the Syma 107G and it was fun and easy In side only! I gave it away and ordered the Hercules unbreakable. The response time from the remote was real bad. Let my friend fly it into a wall and he did not take his hand off the throttle so one of the gears stripped so It won't fly any more. I would like something Midsized and strong enough to fly outdoors. Someone recommended the V-911dont remember if it was you. Any ideas before I go out and spend my money again? Thanks Rob
First, I'm not sure what you mean that you've been trying to get a recommendation from me... as far as I can tell, this is your first comment on my channel ever. Second, so much for "unbreakable", eh? lol Third, well, generally speaking, if you want to fly outdoors and want something bigger, you need to move away from coaxial rotors. Coaxial rotors just don't work well in large scale, and they do not allow for fast forward flight, which means they can't fight any wind. You need to look at single rotor models for that sort of flying, and that also means you need to be pretty good at flying coaxials, since single rotors are harder to fly. The V911 is a great single-rotor model, but it's pretty much the same size as the S107G, and it's not very good in the wind. No! This is a 3 channel setup and the F3 and F1 transmitters won't work with it. The Syma S31 and S33 transmitter's will work with it but Syma has released them with two different transmitter setups and only the newer ones use the same language but if you have a newer S31 or S33 you can use that larger transmitter to fly the F4. If your S31 or S33 transmitter lights up with a blue power LED and chirps while binding, it will work. If it's a older version S31 S33 tranmitter the power LED is red and it's silent while binding. That version won't work.
I didn't have the nano cpx until my girlfriend saw me checking out your video and knew I wanted one. She ordered it as a surprise. I haven't got it yet. lol
They vary. Air Hogs has some RCs rated for younger ages. The age suggestions are mainly just about muscle dexterity, and ability to understand the dangers and how to be safe using them.
Cory Reeves Looks like it's $42 from Tmart or Banggood. I have the Blade mSR X, so I already have something very similar to the F3, but I'll still keep it in mind. :)
