Delighted to hear this work for the first time. It didn't disappoint and contains some excellent string writing. It is interesting though to compare similar works that appeared in 1897. Rachmaninov's First Symphony & Richard Strauss' Till Eulenspiegel. In comparison to this symphony, we have to conclude that Klughardt didn't stray far from his "conservative" approach to writing music. But then why should he, he did it well. P.S. Excellent and very informative synopsis notes above.
