check your fuses and relays in the fuse box for corrosion first. i had a ton of codes, cleaned fuses, relays and fuse box, it dropped to a few things. i suggest starting there always

Hey man , I got Audi A6 4g 2012 3.0 diesel . Sometimes when its cold it rattles for about 10-20 seconds and revs are not stable , pin moves from 800-1000 revs [plays] Only on cold start . In the morning . What could it be . Also it vibrates. It lasts 10-20 seconsa then its gone .
Yeah...I had to tell the dealership what the problem was but no "check light" came on so I was ignored...finally went in behind a tow truck...still spent 11 days before it was fixed....mechanic probably spent 15 minutes changing it....loved that little car but traded it the day I got it back...mostly upset at the dealership....lesson learned !
scan with generic mode or mode 6 if it throws no code. pick out the cylinder pids, O2 pids, engine temp pid, RPM pid, air/fuel pids, MAF pid, TPS and IAS pid and go from there.
Thank you for this video, I have a 2011 Nissan Altima and I have been having trouble with the SIL coming on ramdomly and when this happens she feels like she wants to stall out and has trouble getting the RPM's up. I have tried just about everything I know to fix the problem and changing the camshaft position sensor may be what it takes....fingers crossed!

Very well said. You kept it very simple on explaining how it work's and made me feel like this could be and issue, I have done a complete tune-up on 2010 CR-V 2.4L 4WD and on here under spark plugs, it states to replace cam sensor seal at the same time, I didn't and still have some issues but much better, if I'm gonna take the time to take apart, then I'll just replace it and order a new seal for $4 and have a spare with the new one in vehicle. Just like I kept my coil packs, for the money. It was worth it to buy new coil packs than buy new boots and other seals that needs to be replaced, was worth the extra $15 per cyclinder and know its new and should be good for awhile withb3 years or 36,000 mile warranty. As long its not to pricey, then I'll replace it and keep spare part's, if something happens, I can sell them cheaper than most will have to pay later on like now, everything has jumped up by 35% or more on some thing's and is crazy prucing and changing weekly on parts. Honda's last a long time on the 2.4L engines, they sell very fast even on Craigslist for top prices, if it got wrecked, I'd lookup prices but sell them for what I paid for them. I Already been robbed by garage on heater tube that took them a month. Just found a friends garage I could use and I was taking it back. Had help and it was freezing outside, at temps below zero and I can't move in cold weather, cost $817 for a $32 part then new Plenum gaskets also to get to the metal heater tube, They charged me $112 on it when I said I went to order from said site and I can have it here overnight delivered for $25 extra. She said mines came in and working on it now with being slow, went by and outside in same place, had a low tire and dirt kicked up on it, they added air because was clean and done in 2 day's Ebaymotors and took the chance, the person I was gonna order from had up to 14,000 plus in sales item, and rated 99.9% and took returns even if order was your own mistake and no charge for restocking fees, just cost to send back to them. She said it sounds like you have my guy as she was clicking on key board that you could hear and cost just $75 but I understand they make money off parts but screwed me. Said my radiator was shot. Didn't see any leaks on pressure test, $130 radiator and new from factory wholesale warehouse cost $286 and I was charged $396 for a radiator that fits but not tight from factory, it's loose and nothing they can do about it she said, I said not factory radiator or would fit like old one and old one was gone aready because I asked to see the tanks where it was leaking from.

same here I just had it diagnosed yesterday. also one sign would be that the car would randomly die (engine will shut down) even when moving/at any speed.

Engine light / Red oil light and battery light were on. it turned out that my sensor is fine it is just that some engine oil made its way into the cable of the sensor that goes to the car computer. causing all of my issues. a simple wipe fixed everything but I still have to fix the leak so it won't happen again. My Terracan 2.9 starts ok when cold, but sometimes when hot , it wont start at all, unless you wait for 2 hours.. Could it be the crankshaft position sensor? or camshaft position etc, diagnostic says it is the camshaft sensor but I if I change it and it will not correct the problem.. I wont be happy.. Hi. I have a 2015 jeep patriot sport. Engine blew. Replaced engine and now it cranks over but gets no gas. Replaced crankshaft positioning sensor. Stumped. What would be the cause? Don't know what else to do
Mine would just stall for no reason even while driving.....you could swing it till you were blue in the face it wouldn't start. Leave it for 5 minutes or so and boom, fire right up. We had a customer (car audio) with a track Lotus Exige asking us to disconnect the alarm/immobilizer because it was stalling on the track and his mechanic couldn't find the issue, speaking from my own experience I advised him to change the cam angle sensor and all was good again. He actually came back and thanked me for the advice. 😊
It's an Acura RDX 2.3L year 2007, I've made a test drive today, and the seller told me about the error codes. It has a late start but then worked well, a lot of power, then sometimes loses rpm. (p0234,p0117,p0365,p1131) engine very hard to start and runns rough Could be a camshafts position sensor or it's could be out it timing?
I just changed the Crank shaft position sensor on a Ram 1500 3.6 L... and a new battery.... fuel pump seems good... could a camshaft position sensor be bad even with no codes? Or what could be going on?

My truck had this problem. Would not start and it sounded "different" when I stopped turning the key. New sensor and it was fine. Wasn't cheap, and had to have the truck towed too.
My Audi has a rattling noise I thought it's the fan, the garage says it's the cam shaft, but when they remove the sensor the noise stops. I've taken it for second opinion as cam shafts are expensive
So my car won’t start and I had a code for the camshaft sensor and it was fine for a little but yesterday it turned off while I was in drive and now all it’s doing is clicking if I change the camshaft sensor will it stop clicking and turn back over?
Thank You for this information,my 2006 Toyota Sienna has a P0016 code crank and cam out of correlation saw both your videos to see what the symptons of both of these sensors would be if they were bad and my van does not have these symptons my next move is to pull out the VVT solenoid and inspect if that checks out then I guess the timing belt is off a tooth.,any suggestions?
@@mattdebeer5289 No i'm still driving the van like this the next step for me would be to do the timing belt again and make sure all the timing points are correct i guess, it's not time to do it yet so i've been putting the job aside,besides it starts and runs ok, i drive nearly 50 miles a day during the week and no major issues.

THERE IS CONTINUITY ( OHM METER)ON 2 OF THE WIRES ON CONNECTOR TO CAMSHAFT SENSOR. ARE THE WIRES SHORTED TOGETHER?
Yup. My car I couldn't accelerate heavily or it would just jerk, and when I would come to a stop it would die. Get it fixed before it leaves you stranded, almost happened to me yesterday.
Excellent presentation. Changing my crankshaft position sensor really helped my 2006 Corolla run better and start faster when warm. Do you think it would be a good idea to change out the camshaft position sensor at this time too? Car has 135K miles. Thanks.
So my 2004 Lexus(Toyota) e330(Camry) gave me cylinder 1 misfire (coil pack) and crankshaft position sensor and camshaft sensors. Could the sensors be causing my coil pack misfire? Should I try replacing crank and camshaft sensors before coil packs?
That just sounds like all three parts need replaced a bad coul pack is a bad coil pac man maybe have a shop test each pack individually to be sure before you spend money on a replacement
I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota and the check engine light comes on and off it starts fine idles fine but sometimes when you drive it like the speedometer drops down to like 30 and it kind of just bounces back-and-forth sometimes it will die any answers?
This might actually be the crankshaft sensor, it plays a more important role measuring the engines timing and displays both the RPM and Speedometer gauges. There are some videos where they only take it off and clean it and it works again.
I keep getting a camshaft position error P1340 on my 2003 1.8T Jetta, and cannot figure out what could be causing it. It has been checked by 4 very good mechanics including myself, and we all concur that the timing is perfectly set. We believe the problem may have to do with the reclutor that the position sensor reads, but there is NO information or diagrams for this part. God I hate this car! Does anyone have may ideas?? Thanks
@@Wild1KY I have it at an extremely reputable shop now. The owner is a former Volkswagon tech trainer and swears he can fix it. He has now had it over a week. If he figures it out, I will post solution.
@@Franklinveterinarycenter1of4 I had the same idea. I removed and inspected it. It looked fine (just a piece of metal with slots). Mounted it back on (only goes on one way with tab), and error popped up again. At this point I think it is an intermittent connection somewhere in the wiring harness.
get you a cheap fiberoptic scope with front and side view and turn the crank with socket and ratchet by hand.....have someone rotate the engine proper way it turns while looking inside the hole the sensor goes......look for subtle movements of the magnets and reluctor wheel on cam phaser as it turns. Slippage of magnets or reluctor wheel can cause cam issues.
I have no check engine light but when I drive about ten minutes or so the car will cut off. I let it sit for a couple hours and it cranks right up. Could this be the Camshaft sensor as well?
Thank you nailed it. Had rough idle and took more than a second to start then today the engine light came on and so now I know what those systems were for.
I'm having this issue on my 2008 VW Touran 1.9 TDI. Car doesn't want to start until 30 seconds of cranking. Car shuts down randomly during low RPM's and won't start until 30 seconds of cranking!

I had code p0016 got those replaced, then p0017 popped up,,, car still starts up, only turned off 2 times b4 I changed p0016. Now it's just jerking when I stop at light. Not all the time. I barely drive. Maybe 3 miles to work. Around the neighborhood to store. That's it. I'm going Friday for P0017, light is on. Only code it's giving. Hope this will be it. If not I'm dropping this car back off at the car lot. Tell them do what they want. I didn't sign up for car note and car shop every week.

Have a 2012 Kia forte ex 2.0 4cyl using peak green antifreeze coolant 50/50 should I be using blue Asian formula instead? and also when I go to start it at a cold start the car starts up at 1500 to almost 2000 RPMs then it takes it several minutes to go down to about 800 rpm the car at idle sounds like the rev is slightly going up and down but the rpm needle does not move it kinda sounds like the car is choking the car also takes a while to warm up to operating temps only way I can check the temp on the car is through the heat from the heating in the car due to Kia was stupid and did not put a temp gauge in the car so I rely on my heater in the car to tell me the car is warmed up enough. I have new spark plugs new ignition coils in it. The car is kinda sluggish getting up to 60 mph when stepping on the gas not much but a little bit. and also have a slight ticking when the car is at idle I have taken it to a dealership then lied said i need a new engine the engine is fine asked another mechanic but they could not pinpoint the problem and that makes no sense at all I am also getting worse gas mileage like every week or two I am having to go fill up on gas and it is a 4 cylinder so that should not be happening I do not drive it but 14 miles a day 5 days a week.
It's cam shaft sensor or emissions vape solenoid sensor in front of engine or if u get clicking at ya pump when u get gas feel like it's full but not that's a bad emissions evape cannister the plastic or metal box wit the long hose connected to ya gas tank need to be replaced I done mines gas ⛽ pump smooth and quick now. Now my ac click when I turn air off I need blend door motor actuators i got a chevy impala I think I got 2 and change ya blower motor also buy new one wit filter connected they get clogged and dirty don't turn well and circulate heat and air well unless u have a bad ac compressor.
My 116 i while driving, the engine suddenly stops. the car has 282,000 km and I have never changed the 3 sensors. I believe they are to blame for this inconvenience. what do you think?
My can am spyder has had the code P0340 flash up with the engine light as well.. Csn I ride the trike to my dealership? Its only 25km from my house.. Will riding damage the engine in any way?

Thanks for the video. I have a 2006 Kia Rio that cranks but won't start. The code is for a bad crankshaft position sensor. I checked the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay and they are both good so I'm hoping this is my problem.

I had a high idle I swap out my i.a.c valve and tps and still no power and big lag in throttle response next ill change out my crankshaft and map sensor if all fails and no power I have a vacuum leak or bad pcm .
We have a 2016 vw tiguan. Its throwing cam sansor code. The motor has a very light knocking sound when coasting or in nutral and decelerating. Then it goes away when excelerating.

So my 2011 kia sorento had been having a slight rough idle, I went to work, on the way hit a pothole, I went to go home and tried to start my truck and I get nothing but a quite click. It not battery or alternator. Could camshaft position sensor cause this?
Well, I have three of the symptoms (1,2 & 5) on my Ram 1500 eco diesel. But this doesn't mention another symptom; 'Service Electronic Throttle Control' message. The shop has it now - wish I had watched the video on how to change out the sensor first, it looks like something easy to do. Fingers crossed it's all that's wrong .
