We had to put down our 4 year old Husky because of a brain tumor. It was so sad to see his decline. When we got the word from the neurologist there was nothing that could be done I was absolutely devastated. When we spent our last minutes with him we could see what they meant…he just wasn’t “there” anymore. I love you Ghost ❤️ hug your pets a little tighter tonight. We miss him so so much 😢
I know what you mean, I had to put my 21 year bull arab x bull mastiff girl down yesterday as she had a stroke from brain tumour. I know what u mean with she just was not "there" I was thinking thr same thing when we said our goodbye to our girl :(
Praying for you my friend 🙏. I am currently laying on the floor next to my pup and she just declined to an unresponsive state. I was hopeful this morning, now im scared for her and praying fiercely 💔🙏♥️
Lost my dog yesterday to a brain tumor and seizure. She was perfectly fine 24 hours passed and she is no longer with me. I can't stop thinking about her. I'm going crazy. Had her for 7 years.
I’m so sorry. You were lucky to be her owner and you gave her a good life. Your life was better with her love and pain of loss then to never have met her at all. Hang in there
I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved beautiful sweet boy on February 22nd and I am just now getting the courage to actually watch videos about the extremely painful decision I had to make with the neurologist who had 30 years experience. She is even a proponent in palliative care and alternative medications but said my guy had 3 massive tumors and no combination of medication and surgery and chemotherapy could save him or at least not longer than a couple of months during which he would mostly be hospitalized and recovering and highly medicated. This is a gruesome evil disease, and I am extremely sorry that you too have to feel what I am feeling.
"Life really shouldn't be like this." --All living creatures that are born will die. This is life. There is no 'should' to it.. Knowing this may we be inspired to daily be in nature for 30 mins at least (longer is better). May we be here, now..instead of multi-tasking.
We had to put our girl Lola down December 18, 2021 because of a tumor wrapped around her trigeminal nerve.. The symptoms were first diagnosed as an inner ear infection...but when they did not resolve an appointment with a neurologist confirmed what was actually wrong. You left us way too soon Lola...run free and healthy.
I am sorry to hear about the passing of your girl Lola. Can you please let me know what her symptoms were? My beautiful 6 year old Lab currently has trigeminal neuropathy. He can't close his jaw and I have to hand feed him. The past few days he is unsteady on his feet and I was told by the vet to put him down but I can't do this yet. If you wouldn't mind sharing I would appreciate it.
@@rebe568 peace be with you. I know losing them is tough. God's plans are a wonderful mystery and I have learned many lessons from each and every canine I have had the pleasure of meeting. I hope this message finds you well.
What they don’t tell you here is that it’s about 3k just for an MRI or cat scan to see if the dog has a brain tumor. Add that onto bloodwork and other tests your easily looking upwards of 6-7 grand .
A. Perkins no problem.. and you may as well forgo the scan because if it is a tumor what are you gonna do! They aren’t doing brain surgery on pets just yet. You will know but you won’t be able to really do much about it.
Yep! Ridiculous. Just this morning had to bring our 18 yr old to the emergency vet. Had what appeared to be a seizure or stroke and they are monitoring her now for the day. Already had to drop 800 just for the treatment. End bill could be 12-1600 and that doesn't include the MRI. Luckily we got a call she is doing better so she doesn't have to stay overnight, so may get some of that 800 back. It's ridiculous the prices people have to spend, and if you can't afford it, it's basically tough shit. I guess there is pet insurance nowadays, but still.
You know there’s really affordable pet insurance out there. Better to be proactive and expect the day where you have to drop 8000 dollars at the rate of like 50-60 bucks a month for insurance.
@@SirDiabz I don't know where you live, but I looked into pet insurance a while ago. It was going to cost me more for one dog than it does for my medical insurance, and I have 3 dogs, so 3 times the cost. The other thing that put me off was that there is no insurance for dogs once they turn 7. My lot range from 8 to 16.
My 13 year old Maltese had to leave me a couple of days ago due to brain tumor and repetitive seizures. She was my baby girl and I'm so lost without her. I miss her so much! 😢😔
My 12 almost 13 year old dog had 4 seizures just the other day. He also had other issues such as balancing and walking in circles, I put him down, it hurts but I know he's not hurting anymore.
My long haired doxie was just diagnosed with a brain tumor yesterday. He can't walk, has a head tilt and eye movements, otherwise he's ok, for now. We just ordered him a wheelchair. I'm crushed. Two months ago, his brother from same litter had his spleen removed because he had a tumor. It wasn't cancer and he's doing well. They're almost 14 years old and my heart is crushed.
@@metalman3432 Thank you. Still miss her so much. This is so, true it hurts. Even worse is you think its indicative lf something else, until it hits that final stage. Im just thankful dogs go quickly at that point, rather than suffer.
My youngest, 8, has just been diagnosed with a brain tumour. It was heartbreaking to see her in so much pain, issues walking etc. Vet put her on meds which helped the pain. Then she started to fall over. She would look at me as if to say, "What happened?". She is now on a massive dose of cortisone which has helped but she still nowhere near 100%. She has lost weight, not eating much, unsteady on her feet, unable to sit, going to the toilet frequently. Her bloods are good. She saw her vet yesterday and I am slowly reducing her dosage of the cortisone. Will have to see how she goes. She is basically on palliative care. I don't want her to suffer and have told the vets that and they are 100% in agreement. We are taking one day at a time with her but once she starts to regress or appear to be in pain again, that will be it for her. She is only small so expected to have her for a while. My eldest is 16 and acts like a 2-year-old sometimes. The 12-year-old is almost as bad as the eldest. Both are gentle with the youngest. It's as if they know.
My dog is a tumor in the back of her brain and I couldn’t put her down . She is still happy and eating and drinking but she has no balance and can’t stand
My old dog is having seizures and a tumor could be the reason. I really don’t like to see her like this. She went from a fabulous mover to this... She doesn’t deserve this.
Btw you will have to put her down at some point.. the only cure is to take her to the vet and have her get surgery if you want your baby to survive the rest of its life with no tumor having her get surgery is the only cures
I’m so sorry for your loss. Our dog has signs of a tumour but is eating and drinking well. May I ask how long or was between your post and when she was put to sleep? Did she stop eating?
@@markh9646I have the same question, did you get the answer... even my dog is having a tumor but struggling to balance and is restless, he is eating well but not sure for how long?
I believe this is what my brothers dog has. He can’t afforestation vet care. The dog is 10 - 12 yrs old. I feel he needs to be put down but my bro won’t hear of it. He’s also just losing his bowels & bladder just walking around. It’s pitiful. He also tilts his head to one side & walks in small circles.
My sister’s dog is a Chihuahua we’ve had for YEARS. I think she’s 12 years old. She’s been having seizures like crazy lately. My sister lives in a small studio apartment above our garage that’s detached from the house and she usually has her dog, which is named Lily, up there. She had SO MANY seizures lately off and on. My sister wanted me to watch Lily tonight, but she had a seizure a few hours after she was brought in my room. She was shaking violently, opening and closing her mouth, and when she tried to walk, she seems weak in the legs, her tongue sticks out, and her eyes and head try to look all the way to the right as far as she can go. My sister decided to take her back up in her apartment with the help of her bf because she just couldn’t stand not being able to keep an eye on her. I forgot to mention that Lily doesn’t seem to be here anymore. My mom said, in her words, that she doesn’t seem to be conscious
I just put my 7 year old pittbull down She was fine like last month and all of a sudden she wasn’t She got such a week ago and on Wednesday 08/24/2023 She was gone There was so many symptoms and we believe she had it longer then we knew She was also inbreed so it could have been genetic too
My dog came home from the park one day and went right to bed. Later, he didn't' want to eat or go to the bathroom. I took him to the vet and they did xrays. They thought it might be a soft tissue injury. After several days he was getting worse every day. I took him to an emergency vet. He was diagnosed with a lesion on his brain stem. Two weeks after our last day in the park he had to be put down. He was only 7. I have had several dogs, but I have never heard of this before now. I couldn't let him suffer anymore.
My bichos frise is 16 and he has seizures, but his seizures are weird. It’s like he drops and flails his legs and shakes and he barks so weird like he’s in pain or something. We already know that he has a brain tumor but I’m just curious if that is a seizure or if it’s something else. Update: my dog passed away. My little buddy literally grew up with me. He was 17 when he passed. 😢
i’m sorry for ur loss my dog was also having seizures, barking really weirdly like she was in pain, we unfortunately had to put her down a few hours later. we didn’t even know she was sick. with a brain tumour until 6am when we got to the vet. it was painful so watch, we grew up together and i miss her sm. it honestly feels like a dream but i know it’s real and she’s not coming back but sadly we all wish we could’ve done something to save our dogs.

My 14-16 year old rescue 7.8lb chihuahua started having seizures. His first being on 1/27 at 11pm, 1/30 2am, and 2/3 12am. When we found him in the street 8 months ago (may 2021) he was in very poor shape. Definitely Neglected. Partially blind, deaf, no teeth or lower jaw, tip of his ear missing, no fur on his tail, covered in fleas. There's no doubt he slept outside in the dirt. Gave him lots of TLC and his coat is beautiful now. Anyway, Blood work came back semi-normal. His ALT was high. Vet prescribed 16mg phenobarbital. Will this be harsh on his liver? I don't want him to have another seizure but also afraid to start the pheno with high ALT 224 (normal 12-118 iu/L)After the third seizure I notice his face sometimes twitches throughout the day. His limbs always have since I've had him (I thought probably just due to old age). I felt no assurance from my vet. I felt as if she didn't know what to do. She never mentioned a brain tumor or any other brain issue being a possible reason for his seizures, she just looked at his lab work and sent me home with pheno. Little Bernie also had vestibular disease for exactly 7 days back in October 2021 which he fully recovered from. So should I start the phenobarbital and check his ALT levels in a month? Will the phenobarbital calm his random face and limb twitching. Any advice would help and be appreciated 🙏🏼 UPDATE: I just noticed on his bloodwork his glucose is LOW 56 . Says normal range should be (70-138) . How was this overlooked by my vet? 😣 Could he have hypoglycemia and that be the cause of his sudden onset of seizures?
My dog started having myoclonic seizures very frequently about 4 years ago. She is still doing well and is on keppra. She a 16 year old chiweenie but she is starting to stumble more. It looks like myoclonus seen in CKCS
My dachshund is barely 1 year old has all of the symptoms (blindness, falls to his side, his paws are literally peeling from the sides because of it, little seizures and he looks lost) I didn’t have the money for an MRI but they assumed that it was that. Because of his behavior. I didn’t want to put him down because he a baby. So sad how even these beautiful animals who don’t do anything bad get such a fate. 😭
I had a wonderful dog and I believe that he might have had a brain tumor. I didn't know how to help him at the time, but here are his symptoms: - Back Legs shaking - Several tumors growths on his body - Several seizures - Walking with crossed legs after seizures - Muscle loss in his back legs What am I supposed to do when this happens? Like the vet just put him on some anti seizure medicine, but it didn't do anything. I'm guessing he would need brain surgery to remove the tumor. Who do I go to and how much does this typically cost?
Well my dog don’t do none of that. Thank god. She has what they believe is cancer on the tongue and they got to cut off half of the tongue. Because it’s in the middle and it’s big. So I’m like worried if it’s cancer it might be somewhere that I can’t see it. I’m probably over reacting but I love my dog and don’t want no risks
Thank you for your comment. We are so sorry to hear your pet is going through this. Guys tell me How to do my Dog
I spent over 15k on my dog in her last 3 years due to several different types of cancer treatments. I would give up all my money in the bank if it would mean getting my dog back.
Out of nowhere my extremely strong beautiful boy emptied his bladder in our apartment building, then three weeks later he was no longer with us. Two days before the urination accident he was given the "all clear" by a specialist veterinary hospital that did an ultrasound and radiograph on his chest and renal system, and an oncologist even did a full blood test then said everything was good to go. Yet somehow three massive brain tumors were undetected and undetectable. My beautiful innocent boy had live stolen from him by this evil monstrous disease. And I am here three months later to get a finally get a closer look at what ripped the heart out of my chest.
My dog started to have seizures when he was 11 years old. Vet couldn't find anything wrong. We did bloodwork but didn't do MRI, too expensive. Since his seizures were a month apart Vet didn't want to put him on anti seizure drugs (and I didn't want that either) but said, wait and see. Well, I did some research on my own. Found articles of studies that CBD oil can help with seizures and one study showed Taurine could help too. I put him on CBD oil, Taurine and the seizures stopped for a year. Then the Vet gave him Metacam for his arthritis and he had another seizure. I stopped Metacam. He's now on CBD oil, Taurine, Gabapentin, VitD3 and Sam-e, since he started to act a bit senile. He hasn't had a seizure in 2 months, since the last one. He always had them during the night in the early morning hours. He's in his 13th year now. He's still going for walks, eating, drinking, and since we started giving Sam-e he also started playing with chew toys again.
My rescue dog currently is walking with a head tilt but he was diagnosed with epilepsy and diabetes already so I hope it's not a tumor he's only 10 years old I had him since my senior year of highscool and he's my first dog
@@SEVNeurology thank you my dog started acting strange after she was about 4 months old. I’ve taken her to the vet a few times for different things but she’s just getting worse and worse
Can someone please tell me if brain tumour cells can spread in the body or if it is rare? My Rottweiler Tash (short for Natasha) apparently had tumours from her brain downward.
Sorry for delayed response. It’s less common to have tumor spread FROM the brain to the rest of the body. It’s more common to have a tumor in the body spread around the body to include the brain, lungs, liver, etc.
I think my golden has one, but I can’t justify spending 2800-3500 just to confirm it. She’s 9. I can’t believe how much these places charge for a scan.
I’m afraid my 3 year old Labrador “coco” has brain tumor😖. She is a very good girl and I love her very much ❤. This makes me sad I hope a miracle happens from god and that He saves my beloved doggie ❤

I am not a doctor and obviously follow your vets advice, but I think it is important to keep the swelling down in your dogs body, head and make sure he doesn't have an ear infection.
How's your pup doing? Have u or anyone tried gabapentin for dogs? Mine just started waking up and walking in circles, head tilt, eyes down while yelping. Appears to be a neurological disorder or sort but haven't been to the vet yet. Otherwise hes totally fine 95% of the day
There are lots of reasons that dogs can walk like they’re drunk. Some are “good” reasons that are fixable. Others are more serious like brain tumors. Have you seen your vet for an examination?
