SYND 7 4 78 AFGAN PRESIDENT DAOUD KHAN ARRIVES 

Little did President Daud know that his country would begin a very long journey on the path of self-destruction. Utterly devastating. The gentleman who is interpreting was my uncle, Wafiullah Samyee- Justice Minister. A married man, no children, he was murdered alongside Daud.

Khan was killed about 3 weeks after this meeting. Sadat was killed 3 years after this. Sad :(

This meeting took place on April 7, 1978? President Daoud and nearly all of his family was murdered 24 days after this meeting with President Sadat.

He was originally leaned towards the eastern bloc. However the Soviets warned him about having NATO people in the north of Afghanistan. He didnt like this foreign nation trying to Dictate Afghanistan and pursued relations with Iran and Oil Rich Gulf states, all of which were anti soviet. He managed to open up a relationship with Iran. Even relations with Pakistan were slightly improved. He also said about Eastern Cuba "Cuba only pretends to be non-aligned".
