Fantastic! Finally a video that really captures Synesthesia. Well, how I experience it anyway. I saw the 3 S's before the 5's. My S's are dark blue so when they appeared as yellow my stomach instantly knotted. One of the downsides of Synesthesia.
I have many forms of synesthesia, and all but the slicing of the words (tasting words) are described in this video. I find that this was a very creative and accurate way of showing the abilities of those with synesthesia, such as myself.
a great short film, one that requires some effort or the average person to appreciate. a note on the translation though, which does bug me a little since i think i know the language being spoken (Cantonese, but with a weird skewed accent)... that the subtitles are inaccurate.
My teacher handed us a packet on it to write a review on in English class. I flipped out. I was like "This doesn't happen to everyone?! WHAT COLOR IS THE LETTER A?!" And everyone was like "-______- It doesn't have a color" And I was like "I'm special =D" Synesthesia for life.
One- Yellow Two- Red Three- Light Green Four- Purple Five- A Golden Yellow sort of color Six- Light Blue Seven- Dark Blood Red Eight- Dark Green Nine- A Lemon Yellow Ten- A Light Grey
up to the moment when I became aware of it I haven't had any troubles or problems with it. everything was normal for me, and I embraced my gift afterwards. now I can't imagine the world/life without music :)
This video makes more sense if you look up the definition and/or looked at biographies about people with Synesthesia. Also if you watch the video more than once you start to get it than the first time you watched it.
That's crazy! This video has the same title as my new album, Synesthesia. This awesome video Terri made visually expresses all the concepts of this condition. You can download the title track for free at my website.
this video is amazing i am soooo sorry i wanted to click on the play button by mistake it clicked on the 1 star !! wtf :( i wanted to giv it 5 starsss yoo !! Amazing work !!
AMAZING! As a Film Student in LA who is very interested in Synesthesia I just want to say GREAT JOB!!! Props to your DP! Win any festivals with this one?
You probably will never get it, if you do not have synesthesia! Did you see all three S's at the beginning? Most likey all you saw was a screen of 5's...I see fives as the colour blue and my S's are a pale orange. I detected the S's before they appeared highlighted in yellow. Some people taste words, and hear colour.
subtitles are always inaccurate, because often there is simply no room to put all the text. how inaccurate is it? subtitles are supposed to be summaries of what is being said.
Very interesting, though I'm absorbed in the song. Was it created specifically for the video, or was the video edited to match the song? Either way I wish I had the song :/
@CandyBekah, Synesthesia is when the senses get mixed up, you maybe f.x. taste sound or hear taste, and this film is portraying the oddness of this "disorder"
This is really neat! I'm wondering if I have slight synesthesia as I've been noticing that I smell (and taste, to a degree) things that I see, so I'm doing some research on it...looks like I'll never know for sure if I have it but it's still kinda neat to be able to smell colors and things I see on the computer, things that wouldn't have a real smell. This video smells like mild curry powder. Hehe. :)
@JBieberFanLuv The two boys each have a different kind of synaesthesia... the one on the floor is smelling records and saying what color they smell like (so he perceives smells as colors), and the one with the headphones is 'listening' to the different foods (he perceives taste as sound). The stuff with the giant speakers shows how sound can be perceived as different colors, shapes or textures. It's a pretty fascinating condition, especially to live with. :)
The color of the letter A is Red and I am so happy you brought it up. Since childhood I had thought the number 1 is also Red and so on. My color chart would be 1 red 2 orange 3 yellow 4 brown? 5 light green 6 and I get lost now because of being an electrician.
