I'm actually planning to implement and direct 10GB fiber connection between the serve NIC and my NAS's fiber NIC - don't need more than that for now👍

Sorry missed your comment. Must admit when I first read about it I assumed it would just be 2 x 1Gbpe or however many you include. That confused me a bit until I looked in to it some more.
Up vote for video on how to configure a Mac for dual link aggregation please. Also what I've never understood is how you get dual 1GBb links from the one Ethernet port. Does this only work on the iMac Pro and Mac Pro? ie Mac's with 10 Gb Ethernet. And as I'm here, although it's cheeky, can I ask, is there any benefit to an iMac Pro in terms of more cores using Lightroom? I ask because I can't get a straight answer from those who should know and you're very knowledgeable so here's hoping. Keep up the good work, it's a great service you do even if it's for a tiny audience. Much appreciated!
You know I never thought to explain that. You can do it on pretty much any Mac now tbh. For example on the MBP you can simply plug in two Gb adapters and create a trunk from there. On my iMac Pro for this test I just used the Gb port on the back of the 'pro and then the Gb port on a Thunderbolt dock I have. It's all done in the Preferences. What I'm playing with now is trying to get multi-channel SMB to work as that'll actually give you >1Gbps speeds to a single host. Ref lightroom I think there's diminishing returns on cores. I recently threw all of my RAWS from my trip to NZ at the 18 core 'Pro I have access to thinking it would process them a lot faster. Outputting them took about 3 hours. Surprised me that so I tried it on the 8 core - was about 5 minutes slower. I suspect if you have a modern ish machine with >4 cores or so it won't make a massive amount of difference unless you're doing 100s of large images. Those I mentioned above were all 120MB RAWs from my A7R IV.
MacDoesStuff thank you! Yes, SMB multi channel would be very interesting to see. I vaguely remember looking into that myself a while ago but feeling defeated by the single Ethernet port on my MBP. I also have the OWC thunderbolt dock but it didn’t occur to me that you could use that to double up. Presumably using a thunderbolt to Ethernet dongle as well as the dock would do that. How exciting! 😀
hi there, i wish i could figure out link AG on my mac pro. i have a tp link tl-sg1016de and i have already setup my synology nas with lagg and it works fine, i have ports setup on the switch for the mac for lagg but it will not work unless i plug back into standard ports. and works fine. ive went thru on my mac and setup lagg and tried but i keep getting BS IP. (169.192.***.***) so i am at a loss and need help to where im going wrong. thanks for any help someone can give, please and thank you. P.S. also ive done a manual ip address and it still does not work what am i missing. thanks again.....
Just so I understand - you setup the LAG and it won't accept an IP Address and keeps going to the 169 address? That usually means there's a clash somewhere. Make sure both of the interface you're using are on DHCP and DON'T have the IP you're trying to assign to the LAG before you configure the group. I get oddities on my iMP with TB3 ports if the address I'm trying to use on them was every used on another interface - it just won't accept the address. Wonder if it's something similar to that?
Sorry, missed this. I can't imagine it would help that much for those use cases tbh? Multiple machines streaming and gaming perhaps? I.e. end-points connecting to a switch, and that switch using LAG to another switch/internet breakout? Doubtful I imagine.
