One thing I'd add is to allow access to the server from devices on the local network without auth. Found at the bottom of Settings > Network. Life saver when the internet is down.
I paused it @6:48 I just want to save anyone else who may do that. He is right about to talk about internal users. Don't pause and dig wondering why you don't have a plex user.
Make sure you are logged into the NAS on the same browser (if local). If you are remote, you need to access the Nas and ensure the account you are using has sufficient app privileges. Plus R/W access too to the shared folders (maybe even just Read Only will be enough). Lastly, ensue the Plex app is running and up to date on the mashine
I'm very confused on the Transcorder portion. I thought all Synology NAS does not have Integrated Graphic. It makes so sense to me what so ever. I currently have DS1821+ FYI.
I set this up for one TV and it worked great. My other Samsung TV that is hard wired to my network discovered my NAS and was able to access all my movies and shows without needing the PLEX app. Is this by design? How is a Samsung TV able to just access media files on a Synology NAS? What if I didn't want the Samsung TV to have access to the content of my NAS?
I cannot set up Plex on my DS224+ because I never get the server setup page and there is no way to bring it up. Launching the app from DSM 7.2 just says there is no permission to access and that's as far as I can get. in settings there is no server tab, nor is there an add library tab. Can anyone offer any insight?
That would be ideal, because everyone claims that the Synology OS is easy to use unlike the Qnap OS, so why would there be a guide only for those who don't really need it?
I'm not able to get this working. At first, I'm not able to open Plex using the quickconnect link in the Package Center. I have to go into my router, having set a port forward of 32400 and clicking on the ip-address from there. Then I get Plex running, but I don't get the introduction/explanation page, so I can't click "Got it!" and I'm just forwarded to the Plex homepage. I don't get any Server Setup page. If I click on Your Media, I get a button to get Plex Media Server and am forwarded to the that same download page from te beginning. Package Center says my Plex Media Server is enabled. So what is going on here?
what helped me was to remove from address bar 192-168-110... and replace it with name of your nas. In my case it is ds932:32400/web/index... After that i did not get the wizard but it finally allowed me to claim the server
@@moulderca3681 For me, the problem was that I didn't know I had to get a claim-token. I thought such a token was for when you already had a plex before and wanted to start fresh. Didn't know you had to get a token as a new user. After now working a while with Plex, it's strange there are discrepencies between the webbrowser version and the tv app. For example: I've set up an additional 'managed account' on my own account, for my father. I've set the option to get a 'select user' screen when I open Plex. In the browser, this works. Unfortunatly, my father doesn't know how to work a computer, so I need this to work on the TV app. But it doesn't work. When I start the TV app, I'm automatically loaded into my user. To get the 'account' for my father, I have to go to my user settings, click the 'switch user' and select my fathers profile. Which is too convoluted for my father. Haven't yet been able to get the 'select user' screen on start up. I also don't seem to be able to lock the left menu. I hate how it always disappears.
Already recording a 6-7 part series, just trying to find room in the schedule to publish them. If you are in a pinch and need that to problem solve/setup right now, email me on Robbie @ NASCompares and I'll send you unlisted links first thing tomorrow
@@nascompares how about upgrading from the F2-212 to the F4-424 I really need a video about that before I make the purchase I have the terramaster F2 212 now and want to get the new F4 424 because I think it will solve my buffering problems when trying to play 4k movies on my tv using PLEX
It's very unlikely that Plex sponsors anyone. But it is simply one of the most asked for and used apps. I had a Plex pass long before I got a NAS, and it even has an app for my two TiVos. So I doubt he is ignoring Emby because of any sponsorship, but rather due to user base size.
