Synthesis of Graphene Oxide (GO) by Modified Hummer’s Method - InstaNANO 

hi, i'm about to do research using GO, is this method is quick and simple based on your experience?

Put it in a microwave, that's it

It’s may turn deep yellow ..but you will get it in black color when dried…follow decantation till it is neutral then can oven dry to get the final product

Alexey Eliseykin tbh i am not sure, because i haven't performed this in lab but learnt it on Google classroom lol. i think potassium permanganate will oxidise graphite and hydrogen peroxide is added at end to stop the reaction

Syafiq Asyraf yeah you may try to change your graphite! Alternatively, you can check at the purity of your reagents

Because adding water to acid produces an exothermic reaction (heat). It can cause the water to boil and erupt splashing acid on you. To be safe you want to use AAA or "always add acid" that way the heat is transferred into the water and gives it a chance to cool down before vaporizing into steam. Since the order of this is to add the acid at the end, they suggest adding it slowly so it doesn't boil and hurt you. If I was wrong about any of this, hopefully someone smarter than me will correct me

@ranikabir I try for making graphene oxide i go through so many literature also used sonicator, centrifugation and washing seven or eight times but XRD peaks are not matching with the literature i can't find what is the reason behind them kindly share yours experience Thank you.
