Synyster Gates is legit the most incredible person I’ve ever heard of. The fact him and his father made a completely free online school just because they want more musicians out there is beyond respectful. I love Syn, he’s such a great person.
I respect so much Syn and Avenged, and I believe both are so underrated at some point. I mean, they are famous, I know, but they don't get the deserved credit for all the awesome music they make.
Me too, man. Me too... At least a rerelease of the original so I can own it. Jeeze that's good stuff. The fact that it sounds like ass(production-wise, duh) and still manages to be one of my favorite albums says it all. Mezmer and Pixel & Nasal are my favorites.
Every time someone big mentions bungle, my day is made. They need all the exposure they can get. The fact that my favorite guitarist loves them completes my life.
Wow! so glad i checked my emails and caught the last few minutes of this! my absolute favorite modern guitarist hanging out with the Beato! made my day seeing two amazing musicians hanging out together and sharing it. love hearing your influences and who's music inspires you to play. his story with his dad and country picking is great. i've got a similar experience (but no dad). i was at a little guitar store in small town North Carolina (outside my Marine Base), and i was ripping through Death's Crystal Mountain when this old guy came up with an acoustic and thought what i was playing was really cool. must have been 75 years old. so he sits down and asks me to show him the riff. (and i'm a pretty arrogant, young Marine Megadeth head at the time) i'm like there is no way this old guy's gonna be able to play this on that acoustic. so i show him the riff, and he shreds through this wild bluegrass version of the riff that completely blows my mind, is about twice as many notes, and was completely incomprehensible to me how he did it! it was insane. he definitely did that on purpose! it was probably the classiest thing that happened to me at a guitar store.
@NoiseFeedMusic I dont like associating with emo, punk, etc. I like metal. But I discovered A7x before I saw their previous image. but honestly labels were pushing that image heavy in the early 2000s, and new bands getting signed onto labels are gonna listen so they can make money. trivium and avenged sevenfold both had that emo lookin era. they grew out of it, and now we got things like The Stage. When listening to their interviews they are just like us, or me at least. we love our traditional heavy metal, we grew up on thrash metal, maiden, metallica, megadeth etc. they arent screamo kids
Gypsy jazz is awesome. I remember when I first started playing some of the Django Reinhardt pieces and all I could think was: _"how the hell did this guy play this stuff? With only 3 fingers?!!"_ Seriously, those are super-challenging pieces. They are no joke.
I have been waiting and hoping that Gipsy Jazz might be featured on here. Thank you Synyster Gates for forging the path on this great channel. I am hoping that Rick might pick up on this, and with so many great contemporary players to chose from; Bireli Lagrene, Angelo Debarre, Seb Giniaux, Adrien Moignard, Rocky Griset, Rosenberg family. No shortage of fine players, and I have only mentioned a few.
This is amazing, thanks Rick for interview the lead guitarist of my favorite band ever!!! I knew the jazz influence of Syn but, is interesting know names, and is great the Mr. Bugle stuff, I like too is insane!!!
+Rick Beato I’d call Elfman a Symphonic Punk as for genres - I always loved Oingo Boingo and the clash of new wave, punk, big band mashing brass sections with multi vocals and rock all combined. Great stuff translated to film.
I checked his school out when it was first launched and his first economy picking video is now my warmup exercise everytime I play. I went through every video and took it all in with a grain of salt, wonderfully helpful.
Well, this was certainly a treat! The first thought I had when this video popped up was, "OMG awesome! But 22 minutes will never be enough. I hope the next video is much longer. I could do with say 2 hours...minimum.
Sitting here with Avenged Sevenfold Guitarist: Christopher Walken, to ask him about his current projects. Not being a hater, Syn talks a good game but his rock playing is average shred material. I'll give him points for the gypsy jazz stuff. And actually he looks like a cross between a young Christopher Walken and James Spader.
@@mightymouse742 music no competition man. And If you judge guitarist just by his skills, how does it relate to music then? Isn't the melodies what it is all about? He makes super riffs. And he's great guitarist btw.
@@michaldvorak1403: No competition, you're right. Just an observation. As to not hurt people's feelings, which is the norm these days, let me rephrase what I said. He's not my cup of tea and I personally don't think he's a great guitar player. Good guitar player, yes, great, no. But other people feel differently. He's doing what he enjoys for a living, that's all that matters.
as a guitar player, this guy is only one since DIMEBAG who is truly blessed, COOL GUY. I DON'T THINK DIMEBAG WILL EVER BE REPLACED, HE WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY HIS FRIENDS AND PEERS AND FAN'S, AND THE TALENT AND PERSONNA!!!!!!! A7X!!!
What a nice guy. I mean Rick is pretty well known. But probably not as much as Syn. Especially the youngins. But that's so cool he'd do this. So humble so nice and genuine
Most surprising guest I’d ever seen on your channel. I Love Syn personally EDIT: He’s already been on the channel but this is the first I’ve seen him on here
just checked out some gypsy jazz clips. great stuff. that "pump" rhythm reminded me of some Tom Waits stuff. Tom has a whimsical bent to his tunes and what I've heard from Elfman and Patton have the same thing. real cool, too, is Mr. Gates mentoring kids. that and keeping the old stuff alive, current, and vital. BTW, when I heard "Hail" I ran out and bought the album. super heavy but kind of understated, I thought- really makes the crescendos jump out. nice mix, great work. kudos. Ü ♥ ♫
STST is amazing, however in my opinion, it's not their best for 2 major points. 1. No Synny Synny me No likey likey lol and 2. Waking the Fallen is like a better longer version of STST with better qaulity AND Synyster Gates Genesis album was WTF.
Today, I ordered your boo, and it is amazing! :D Awesome Channel and content. Knew about you for a long time, but recently started binge watching all of your videos. Keep it up! Greets from Belgium
Rick - have you done an episode on Vulfpeck? If you're not familiar with them, check of the video for their song "Dean Town." It restored my faith in indie rock music.
The band has said that they listen to a lot of different genres and this often makes its way into their music. It'll probably continue to happen as long as they find inspiration in it
Rick, may I suggest you to see a finger style guitarist named ALIP BA TA. He has youtube channel named also Alip_Ba_Ta. He made some cover including Avenged Sevenfold : Bured Alive and Dear God. This guy is phenomenal guitar player. I'm sure you will agree with me if you see some of his Cover. All the best Rick
Man this is so weird, before this came out I was listening to Pinkly Smooth and kept saying to myself "I wonder if they'll ever remaster this album" and then this happens. I hope this comes out.
Hi Rick. You should make analysis about Silverchair's Diorama / Young Modern Station album. I'm frustrated coz no one talk about it. It's so underrated. If you like Radiohead's Kid A or Ok Computer, you definitely will like Silverchair's album i've mentioned. Daniel Johns is genius musician. Hope you read my comment.
Avenged Sevenfold killer version of "Wish you were here", the band caught my attention when I first heard it., much the same way The Claypool Lennon Delirium covered some old Pink floyd and King Crimson. All great stuff MY only criticism is that Avenged Sevenfold is all over place, too eclectic, but most of us would love that
The eclecticism is what keeps them fresh. Also they can show different sides of each member's influences. They have punk, core, metal, Jazz, and etc. Influences and each album allows them to show that more.
while there is no secrets there are certain riffs that are easier (or even stuff u know every note too, stuff youve heard a million times in highschool or whatever) but help you develop those shred techniques. when i first started thunderstruck really helped for my hammer/pulloffs . and now hail to the king is really helping me with those but also adding moving your hand a bit. and also zack wylde solos are great beginner shredder techniques. also i do minor and pentatonic scales every day . no i dea what notes but thyere getting me faster up and down
Squeeze me Macaroni, Slap your Face with my Bologna......genius , hilarious lyrics.....Girls of Porn and Squeeze me are damn near comedy.....just awesome!
