In this video we take a look at how we can use AI to auto generate system design diagrams including cloud architecture, database ERDs, flow charts, sequence diagrams, and more! Check out this new AI diagraming tool at 👉 Eraser.io
I've created hundreds of PlantUML diagrams as an architect and this tool is insane. The amount of time it would have saved me wheew. I like the `as code` part of it, so the diagrams can still be kept in a repo and versioned, but the generation is pretty spot on, especially for cloud diagrams.
So you can use any of the big LLMs like ChatGPT to generate diagrams. You just have to describe what you want then ask it to return the diagram in a mermaid format. Then you can paste that in tools like excalidraw and such.
Overall its very nice but my only issue with it is the entity relationship diagram can only be edited with code and not both through the ui or code? Idk
I do think the code editing is nice because you can see everything as a flat list instead of wrangling with lines/arrows manually. I think if you have a big and complex enough ERD you’ll find it to be pretty valuable. Just my two cents
They do have a free tier which includes 20 tokens for AI diagrams if you want to try it out, but beyond that you do have to upgrade to a paid subscription www.eraser.io/pricing
@@mariusespejo I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I don't know how to use it, but it just drew something completely off the wall, from what was in the JSON.
@@nicosilva4750 there seems to be option for diagram type on 9:36 for entity relationship diagram then propapbly put the JSON on the prompt?. @mariusespejo i think you selected the sequential option, not the cloud architecture.
I'd use it if it would be exporting to mermaid or if they would provide the tools to be able to visualize it easily. I wouldn't mind paying for the generation but after that i don't want to be limited in the generated result.
