Great video! Regarding AAR misses/ghost shot stuff: If you miss, it shows the position of vehicles at the time you fired, which can sometimes make it look like you ghosted the shot through a moving target (in reality it was no longer there when the shot reached that part of its path). If you hit, it updates the positions to be wherever they were at the first contact for that shot. Source: I wrote the code.

oh hello! are you planning to implement simpler aiming, like in wot/warthunder? I understand that how it is implemented now is probably closer to a real life aiming, but for casual player, as me, it is so unwieldy

@@Uterr We are not. Many of the fire control systems require a steady traverse rate, which would be very difficult to depict with free/twitch aim. We know some players find it unwieldy, but we're sticking to it.

Probably not worth the overhead to keep track of enemy position at any particular time versus the warhead position, but wonder if it would be worth drawing an estimated enemy position at closest approach. That could be something calculated in the AAR just based on logging the target's velocity at the moment a shot was fired. Probably would lead to just as many but different odd looking shots though and then still get more complicated having to ensure the model is on top of the ground. Not to mention having to guess what the target even was if a shot is significantly off. Either way though I love the particle detail on hits.

Probably one of the most challenging missions in GHPC because of the numbers disadvantage and the importance of using terrain and hull down, but a very satisfying mission to complete. Good stuff :)

@RZU 147 I've played this mission (also my favourite), and you could easily get squashed in this mission if you're careless. A platoon of m60a3 vs a company of T-72s and BMP-1 is still deadly threat.

I was always missing with the T60A3TTS so I read the Manuel, it’s important to rest the sight over the target for 1,5 seconds so the gun computer can estimate the movement speed of the object and lead accordingly. If you turn the turret, lase a target and fire away the computer will understand the rotation of the turret as movement of the target and misses every time. I love that the systems are so well simulated in the game!

I think the misses that went through the target is that when you fired the shot the target was in a different position. I think the after action report only shows targets where they were at the end of the mission.

I think it shows the position of the vehicles the moment you fire, otherwise the shots wont come out of the barrel in AAR if the tank moved since it fired.

Ok i asked on discord and got the follwing explanation. when a shot is fired and the round does not hit a target the rounds flight is recorded but the "target" position is as it was when the round impacted the terrain. thus between the time the round missed and the round hit the terain the targets in this case have moved to a point where they could have been hit by the rounds flight thus it appears on the AAR that the round should have impacted. this shows how close a miss you had and thus the one or two full misses shows how "far" by comparasion you missed by

This game has a ton of potential. Been playing ever since Wolfpack 345 brought out the first video. Reminds me of 1990's game "M1 Tank Platoon". Used to love playing that. This game is much better and still developing. Thanks again Wolfpack for another great game choice and good video!

From the User Guide on their homepage: (...)"If a shot strikes a target, the synchronization is where the hit occurred, but if a shot misses or strikes ground, the sync is done for the time the shot was fired. This means that, when firing on moving targets and missing, it's possible to produce a shot path in AAR that passes through a vehicle. This is not a bug."(...)

I'd be on the phone behind your M60, screaming for the counterbattery strike. Depending on what(and who) survived the 2 enemy arty strikes, we would be setting up TOW and .50HMG. Maybe in time to help with the BMP's. M47 is useless(hopefully the PLT Sargeant traded some Dragon thermal gear for 90mm recoilless). Tradoc said to expect as much ATGM wire on the ground as barbed wire in WW1. Then lead a patrol to check out the BMP's, and put any surviving Motor Riflemen out of everyone's misery. That would have been a weird personal Alt history. Kinda strange to see it all splayed out on computer.

Man you'd think at least the frontal armor of a main battle tank would be able to stop incoming shots, but no, those T-72s might as well have been unarmored. What was the distance?

First shots were fired at 2.3km. The M60 wouldn't be able to go through a T-72A at a quarter of this range. However we need to remember, that the T-72 Ural was also a thing. And i'm not sure if it's cast turret would be able to stop the APDS. The hull might.

I am honestly shocked those hits did not register, "Gunner, Heat, PC!" is such a well modeled game. Heck, it even registered that you hit that one enemy's heart!

I attended Armor School at Ft Knox Ky in 1991. We trained in a simulator called the "Coft". There was a position for each crew member. This game reminds me of that but of course has much better graphics than 1991. For gunnery we were told to remember to "laze and blaze"...

Think you mean SIMMET for all crew positions and UCOFT for gunnery training (tank killer as warmup exercise) I actually completed ALL levels in for UCOFT.

I think the turret wasn't able to angle down and the bushes made the rounds do different tragectories? Some of your shots were dead-on and went right through armor. it warped through it. I love the old school woodland camo.

11:30 you missed the BMPs because you aimed directly at them while they were driving towards you.. HEAT has a high arcing trajectory and longer flight time, so while the white non-arcing visual shows through the BMP, your actual shot went over.. you kinda need to aim slightly infront in those situations. Laser ranging and stabilisation tracking at targets coming in towards you while you have long-travel-time-arcing-shot means you need to correct for the time to impact.. lead shooting like those deflection shots in flightsims.

Bought the game and well…I’m having issues with turret traversing. Any advice? I use my mouse and my directional arrows on my keyboard for movement. What do you use for turret traversing and elevation? It’s very impressive. Obviously the lack of infantry is apparent but I’m sure this is to maximize graphic generation. Great video again. Looking forward to your help

@@Uterr Seems this is the wrong simulation for you, then... Alternatively just lead and aim with your eyeballs MK I. He mostly missed the BMPs because he aimed at them and not at the ground in front of them, while they rushed towards him at max speed. If the FCS can't do it, just shoot and adjust lead by the margin of miss.

so a bit of reality for you on turret pppoing. It doesn't work like that. combat experience in Syria and mroe recently in Ukraine shows that the overhwelming number of these "instant turret tosses" where caused by secondary explosions as long as 10-30 minutes after a hit that caused a fire. and only if the crew were dead or the vehicles abandoned to burn that long in the first place. and most of the time at least some of the crew survived as well. Additionally the turret of Nato Tanks tend to be much heavier then Soviet era designs, like 20 TONS in the case of the Abrooms, so that would also play a huge part in how much force is required for a turret pop.

From what I see, HEAT rounds have an arched trajectory while SABOT have a near flat trajectory. It seems your HEAT have landed behind those BMPs. Maybe the onboard computer made no ajustments to the trajectory, or the BMP just rolled forward at a higher speed then calculated. The white trajectory line does not account for the trajectory of the shell.

Trajectory is mostly a product of velocity, HEAT are slow so they arc more. The fire control system updates with the ammo loaded automatically. (Well in game, IRL you hit a button/twist a dial to the right ammo)

From the AAR it appears that only 5 of the 11 misses were poorly aimed and shot. Possibly skipped rounds or drive bys on the other 6.

So those bulges on the back of the BMP are fuel tanks? I've heard of that, but when I google it, I get some conflicting information. Apparently, US military intelligence in real life thought they were filled with sand (???). Do those tanks feed into the "main" fuel tanks used by the engine? What a weird and interesting design decision.

Penetrating the glacis of a T-72 with a frontal shot at such an acute angle, even with APFSDS, at >2km seems overgenerous in this game. I am not seeing any deflections or sabot-shatters so don't think they are modelled in which is a shame. It would be nice to see more cinematic elements in the game like ricochets, the ones in the movie Fury were awesome and it would be great immersion if they were in this

This is M833 vs T-72Ms, its not unreasonable to have it penetrate often. The round is over a decade newer than the tank and engineered to kill it.

I'm pretty sure that the misses that "hit" are actually the trajectory for HEAT is different from Sabot. But the shot line for both is identical. The HEAT rounds are lobbed in a more parabolic arc whereas the sabot's are a straight shot.

I played the little campaign mode in game,and when playing I feel really bad for the Russian crews,like the American armor has so much more fire power,like playing as the Russians I've had two Bradley's destroy eight T-72s from so far away we couldn't see them didn't even know we were under attack till it was to late

​​@@bpw102896 Not really. The Bloc vehicles you see here are all export variants firing outdated shells with very poor/non-existent composite armor. Actual Soviet vehicles equipped with their top material would result in a lot more American turrets getting blown off.

That is not a bug, the AAR shows the position of the vehicles at the moment you fired. if the are on the move it may seem like the shot went through them in AAR.

The M60 has better ranging and can engage from a longer range, and the 105mm with Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized can do enough damage to those East German T-72s. The Marines in Desert Storm engaged Iraqi tanks with M60s, and did well in reality, and those were similar to these. It doesn't help that the East German tanks aren't equipped with ERA, and just, don't have the optic range to engage the at the range of the M60, so they lost because they couldn't start shooting fast enough.

@@NephilBlade Depends on training, weather, and gunnery. Nothing's ever truly predictable. If they could range out far enough to hit the M60, I'd imagine the engagement might go differently.

T-72s cannot fire accurately at 2km while moving at speed. You can get the game and try out the T-72, it's pretty cool. Very effective within a mile or so, but you run into problems out past that if you and the target are not both stationary.

It can be, the enemy will retreat when it takes severe enough losses... but right now its a placeholder system. The game is still in active development, the AI in particular is nowhere near done

The age 10 years old understanding of Geopolitics. The T-72 snorkels under rivers and small lakes & BMP swims across and bypasses the M-60’s who never see them… if they want to. Even if 10ft tall 105 mm M-60 do see very low profile 7ft tall 125 mm T-72 with auto loader and ammunition in carousel under the turret the side effect of ammunition explosion blowing the turret off the tank means absolutely nothing. After any tank has been hit penetrated and then ammunition explosion it doesn’t matter where on earth the tanks turret is the souls of the tanks crew are no longer. The best defense is not to get hit at all. Adult geopolitics. T-72 will fight defense battles because there is nothing in Europe worth the tank gas to drive there for then and today the prize is in Russia the same prize that was there in the 19th century, the 20th century and 21st century… the worlds most and best fertile land/agriculture, natural resources, and oil. This game can be pretty cringe for a simulator. Every T72 manufactured from 1979 onwards had laser range finders . Accurate to 1m out to 5km. Which means this should really have just be a series of trades ending with whoever had more tanks or fired first winning. Seeing as there were more Russians and they fired first. They would have won this engagement. The M60A3 only entered Europe in 1979. The T72’s just conveniently forget to use their most expensive part of the tank.

You can use the T-72 in this game. It has a laser range finder. What it does not have is the ability to fire accurately on the move at range or at moving targets at range.This is because the fire control system is quite bare bones, this game does a very good job showing how the M60s fire control is a bit better and the M1s fire control is massively better. The T-80B is going to be added and has much better systems than the 72M1

I switch back and forth. The sight picture via thermals is not as clear.

@@Wolfpack345 Yes, but the thermal target is an uncluttered defined target void of shadows, dust, light, dark, and camouflage. All you have to do is engage the target in your sight. You save time and your own life by engaging first.
