This is a complete beginner's Meshtastic build guide for assembling a Lilygo T-Beam Supreme LoRa radio. The Supreme is the most feature-rich T-Beam model currently available. With this radio, you can connect your phone via Bluetooth to the free Meshtastic app and communicate on your own off-grid, encrypted text channel. You can transmit GPS and other data too!

(MAKE SURE you select the correct frequency 915Mhz in the US. Also, you might notice two versions (SoftRF/Meshtastic), it doesn't matter which one you get because the only difference is the default firmware, and we'll be flashing new firmware anyways so it doesn't matter.)

Always choose the Panasonic battery ! These units really chew up the power and for 90c more you're getting an extra 25% battery capacity. Matt, this video is fantastic, the clarity, camera work and chapters make it instructional PERFECTION 😁 PS : Lock washers always go between the nut and the flat washer. Your G/F's nail polish makes good locktite 👍

And avoid like the *PLAQUE* any of those Chinese batteries with *_"Fire"_* in the name. _(UltraFire,_ etc.) First of all, for most of those, they are rated in what I call _"Chinese mAhs"._ Those are like regular milliamp hours *MULTIPLIED BY 10!* (Just like _"Chinese lumens"_ on flashlights!) Given the relative hazards of lithium ion batteries, I don't know why you'd want one with _"FIRE"_ in the name. What I'd like to see is a version of this that uses LiFePO4 batteries. They're a bit lower in voltage, but last for many more charge/discharge cycles, plus are less prone to *CATCHING FIRE!*

Another way to tell which USB port to use is to not plug in the USB cord at all first click full install and erasure it's going to pop up that window and say pick your USB device now plug in the USB cable using the boot button and whichever new device pops up that's what you just plugged in

Vape shops are also a good source of flat top 18650 batteries with good capacity.

Tony's cases are really nice. Except for those supports LOL. I used a very small flat headed screwdriver and kind of chiseled out those last bits of supports. Fortunately they are on the inside so it doesn't really matter. I've got an order from RAK I'm waiting for so I've got plenty of time for support removal. Great video.

Yeah, I tend to avoid supports whenever possible. It's a little annoying to require it because of how it was designed. But overall, it's a nice case.

Mine was working with an old version of Meshtastic. Upgraded it and now have a blank screen. It's working, Bluetooth shows, but no display :(

I had to get a usb-c data/power cable. My pc wouldn't recognize it with what wound up being a power only cable.

This supreme version looks great, but I could not find any reason to pay almost 100€ for it. Only benefit i know is great GPS chip. Are there any other benefits Im missing (comparing it with 54€ version of lower t-beam)?

i think power consumption is much less, so the battery holds longer

if you want a easy place to get 18650s go to the local vape store not the gas station that sells vapes but a actual vape store theyll most likley have 18650s in stock and decent high quality samsung and sony ones to boot as there may have been some situations in the 2010s that made us religously serious about using only the best genuine batterys youll pay around 4-6 bucks per cell brands Sony and Samsung Cells are some of the best on the market although you do not and will not need the top of the line cells the really high end ones are mainly for people who need a high power draw cell for example being able to draw 30-40 amps of current out of them for high end vape rigs 10a would be PLENTY especially considering youll be drawing half a amp at best capacity (the mah or Ah number) get as big as you can afford thats your battery life the more of it the longer its gonna last as long as its sony or samsung and in your budget youll be fine (ive not uses panasonics but ive heard no complaints about them) although i will say that panasonic 10a 3450mah is a good price given its capacity

@@andrewb576 your most welcome btw if you see disposable vapes laying around on the floor or have freinds that use them just know the batteries in those are actually rechargable lithium cells usually around 350-600mah i use them on my heltec v3 which has a charging circuit onboard and they work quite nice especially for being something free that would have gone in the trash word of warning though whilst disposable vapes are not ultra toxic waste they have been in someones mouth and they do contain potent nicotine liquid so wear some gloves when taking them apart and wash your hands afterwards

@@mattreviewsit Considering the overhead for an entire isle dedicated to random fasteners that only ever get sold in small quantities after sitting for months - years, I'd wager quite a bit less than 8000%. Then add in the thievery that seems to be rampant these days and expect Ace isn't getting filthy rich off random 40cent fasteners.
