In a Wendy Williams interview (it is on youtube) Lisa said she didn't come because she wasn't a big wedding person (or funeral). The only weddings she had been to where her mothers, of which she said she had been to 3 (that may have had something to do with it). She said she didn't want to travel 2000 miles to sit at a wedding, she didn't think it was a big deal. It also fell on her boyfriend (Sean's) birthday. There was also some heat at the time. Lisa later rapped in a song "Through The Pain" her congratulations to T-Boz about the wedding and the baby. Infact the whole verse about TLC is lovely. I feel TBoz & Chili did a great job protecting her issues and her mental health issues that she brought into that girl. She was busy making bad choices, believing in a fake scammer in the jungle, seeking psychics to question her death date, and was having a relationship with suge knight. She was under all sorts of pressures because she tried to move on and got big headed to leave TBoz and chili. She didn’t wanna accept they were a force together. She was mad because she wanted her way, wanted to rap on all TLC records, and wanted more creative control of the entire groups visions. She felt lost & unheard because of that which is what fans don’t wanna be real about. Lisa has deep inner trauma, depression, and mental health issues going on because of that abusive childhood. She sought all sorts of spiritualist practices and dabbled in that stuff to connect with her father. Like she needed to heal and get help from doctors then come back to TLC with her group to finish out their reign. It’s unfortunate she passed on, her fans are delusional about that. People thought TBoz and chili was hanging up on her and the media ran with them being the bullies of her. They were older than her and she was the youngest. So many people tryout think TBoz and chili never contributed to that and that was all a lie the media wanted us to believe. People kept sitting in her ear telling her she was the star of the group and had so much star power but her first album flopped really badly. She was smart and beautiful but she’s not the main voice behind tlc. It was TBoz and I feel they were so tired of her toxic ways and mental health issues overlapping with their group business endeavors and money. It did held them back a lot. They were not on hood speaking terms because she issued a challenge to those girls and went thinking she was better than them. People truly fed into that and gassed her head up; which is why now all TLC fans think she ran and founded TLC but she did not. She wrote raps, named their albums, and had creative suggestions/input but she wasn’t the signature voice behind this group. She was one of them but not like how people was gassing her up to be.
This was before Lisa passed..August of 2000 to be exact. Left Eye didn't show because at the time they weren't all on good terms and had petty drama. They talked about it in TLC: The final chapter some years ago. T-Boz was hurt that Lisa didn't show even though they were mad at each other.

I was 17 in 2000 and didn't know any better. I was upset at her then but now as an adult I of course see things from a different perspective. Tionne did say they spoke before the wedding and Lisa sent her lots of great gifts. I still would have liked for her to be there.

Lol the wedding was beautiful but I never understood this pairing. She and mr Dalvin made a much better couple in imo. Dalvin seemed really into her and I read that he was taking care of her during the time she had it bad with the sickle cell.

Sandra Potter during this time Lisa wasn't feeling the group and wanted to work solo. In an interview Lisa said that the wedding was for her family and that she didn't know if she was invited. Which sounded ridiculous because they were group members, but I just read between the lines and saw that Lisa just didn't want to be involved anymore.

Looks can be deceiving. Just because they look good together doesn't mean it wasn't toxic. Couples can separate for reasons deeper than apperance and apperance alone cant keep someone in a relationship. Not a genuine one anyway.
There was also the infamous EW article challenging T & C to solo albums. She also didn't want to tour but they had already sold tickets, so she was kind of forced. She was just on a totally different page than Tionne and Chilli during that era. I think the majority of their issues were professional, not personal.
kevin toon You're right, he didn't beat her. Several industry insiders have spilled this one. Don't get it twisted, Tionne "T-boz" Watkins was a real hardass and would throw down real quick! It was even said that she drug a dude through a drive through window for being rude to her.
T boze just wanted to get married, not realizing that she should have choose a man with good qualities. But a lot of young women and some older ones don't know what to look for in a man when choosing one. But I bet she will be more wiser now when choosing a man than she did when she was younger. Life and experience will teach you a whole lot about relationships. That's why I don't encourage people to get married when they don't understand what to expect from a spouse and marriage so when they do finally choose someone they can have a better chance at having a happier life and future with their spouse.

I honestly don't think she was really mad at Tionne and Chilli but she let her frustrations with the label and their producer Dallas Austin (Chilli's then boyfriend and the father of her son) spill over into the group. The songs she submitted for 'FanMail' weren't used, Dallas' production fee was outrageous, creative differences with label etc. Her frustration caused a lot of tension within the group during 99-00.
It surely did. I realized after I’ve come back to glance their their artistry. She was very problematic towards chili and TBoz. She also had other issues as well that I believe she would bring to that group like her alcoholism and traumas from a child. She was lost as well. I felt chili and TBoz was really tired of that then when the industry fake people got in her ear to had her up to truly thought she was the star of TLC, that’s what created even more drama. She’s wasn’t the signature voice behind TLC, it’s TBoz. She wasn’t running TLC like their delusions fans don’t wanna accept. They only worship her because she’s passed on but she was creating problems for them. They did love her like a sister and felt betrayed that she went to sign with that man suge knight. Suge knight and her dated, she was doing all that out of frustrations and that man put his hands on her to and abused her while she was his artist. She had such toxic things going, then she only went to that island because she was lost and trying to find peace.
