Saya sangat senang penyampaian anda saat sedang memperbaiki. Walaupun saya tak begitu paham bahasa inggris. Terima kasih. Info memperbaiki tc. Electronic m350
Nice repair! I think the kind phrase is "built to a price point" - but yes, cheap. I was surprised you didn't check the +15 current prior to replacing the regulator - 78 and 79 series regulators have over-current protection built in and will reduce output voltage when overloaded.
I used a lot of TC Electronics gear when I did FOH sound......Yep, pretty cheap gear but they worked fine. Over a 9-year period our TC stuff was faultless I must say, albeit not powered 24/7.
Thanks for the video! I got one of these with the display issue and am in the midst of trying to repair it. I completed re-capping it today but it still didn't work. The +15V rail is showing 14.7V so that may be the issue. The -15V rail is at 14.9 something. I ordered the two 15V regulators and will replace them both and see what happens. The 5v and 3.3V rails seemed fine. I think this one was used for a while after the display went. There was dry, crusty capacitor leakage in multiple places so I think it has been failing for a while. I'm thinking that the continued use probably damaged the regulators. We'll see what happens.
That sounds like a good guess. From what I can see online those things did have problems with the displays but somewhere along the line I think I saw that some folks were controlling them through MIDI?? Don't know much about MIDI.
Frist of all I know nothing about this just because I have this effect unit dying slowly then I Google and find out they all have same problem with the power supply then your video makes me want to repair mine myself but be honest I need your help on what exactly capacitor do I need to replace them (know nothing about them) thank you very much and yes I am very impressed
Considering the minimal cost of the parts I would just change all the caps in the power supply. They are easy to get to and since it is your own unit and not a customers you don't have to justify changing out potentially good parts. But at the very least replace those 2 220uf shown in the video. All the parts are available at mouser.com or digikey.com. Thanks for watching
Do you mean the magnifying light? I don't know. I got it from Amazon several years ago. My only requirement was a round tube and big enough. I think it was $30.
Interesting - as far as I can recall, the internals look the same as the G-Major/2 I have (apart from the analog connectors). Some of the G-Majors had S/PDIF too. I wonder if they basically just use different firmware...
Nice one! Hello how to connect this to mixer? I have Yamaha Mg10uxf- there is one Phones jack (like TRS) labeled FX send. And there’s no label “FX returns” input for mixer. So I tried I plug it to mic input instead, I’m getting hiss /noise. So what kind of cable will work to route this thing to my mixer?
Now I see why these units fail so often. Just had mine become unresponsive on the front panel. Pretty annoying that it's essentially "on" all the time.
I really don't have any solutions for you off the top of my head. These are pretty complicated devices and there are a lot of things that can go wrong, especially after so many years. Thanks for watching
i still have two M ones. one 1st gen, TRS plugs bought new, and a 2nd hand M one XL. great sounding units. dead screen on the 1st gen. lights up, but no symbols. i've put screens in other rack gear before, gotta get to it. would you know if the screen is available for this 1st gen unit? i don't see it anywhere.
It doesn't look like they will sell you a screen for it from what I can tell. Check your voltages first before you swap out the screen though. It might be a simple repair.
Hey man! I have some problems with my TC Electronic D-Two, hum noise (even in bypass mode) and sometimes the LCD is going to freeze/blank, also whenever I dialing the level and mix knob, hum noise is getting worse and some strange sounds appeared, do you know why? Oh FYI I used TS jack for mono input and output 🙏🏻
All I can think of is power supply problems. It could be bad filter caps but also, if it has 78** or 79** regulators check the bypass caps, usually around 10uF. Also check your grounding both for missing ground or ground loop. Hope that helps.
I have a TC Electronics G FORCE, DOES NOT POWER ON. I was thinking it was the power switch itself because it just didnt fee right as I removed everything from the front all these soft tab buttons went everywhere its a mess. I now know after watching this , I should have gone right to the multi meter. Can I send you the unit for repair ?
TC Electronic is owned by the company that makes Behringer.. That's probably why. Yeah, not terribly impressive. Coffee powered radio.. thats what I like.
That is most likely the power supply. There isn't anything special about it. It has 3.3V, 5V and +- 15V. It is a switching supply and you might be able to find a replacement on Ebay. I don't know that for sure though.
