Drake grew up in Jane and Weston, he only moved to forrest hill in HS so hold this L. And +Sathira Kathugaha this is not "jamaican slang" only people outside the dot would think so, this be Toronto slang it's patois, somali , west AFrican lingo, us words and more all mixed up loool
Sunny D Lmao people in the U.K. are like "Our country existed before yours so we had the dialect first." Which makes zero sense lol. The accent didn't just appear when the country was first founded. You're telling me Elizabeth I was like "Yo swing the the carriage my guy issa jubilee ting tonight" ?
How is it that I'm literally watching this 5 fuckin years later and I'm still laughing my ass off! I can't wait for you guys to get back to doing your thing! Stay blessed 🙌
Pork Chop Extra Gravy wat you mean the slang and words the words we use in our slang are almost impossible for an american to say it right you fuckin shit brain
Pork Chop Extra Gravy The slang words definitely don’t come from America lmfao. I’ve never heard any American use the Slang that we use in Toronto or in the UK. It’s from Jamaica.
bruh i swear theres only a handful videos that get me cracking up 😂😂 This is definitely top 5. Love the t-dot shit keep up the good work, this channel is mad underrated g
And while U.K and Canada is claiming who used the accent first. Being born and raised in Jamaica......on behalf of Jamaica, and its citizens, you're welcome. Remember where it initially came from.
dizzy8izzy yeah, no. That's not Trinidad, Haiti,Domincan, Grenada or Barbados influence. Well maybe a touch of Trini in there but that's majority Patois of Jamaica. I'm from Jamaica, raised in Toronto. I deal(dealt) with these nationalities all day. I know the difference in each dialect.
It's very interesting being from the UK to hear this slang, the similarity is remarkable. Even subtle details like the word 'likkle' instead of little which is a patois. To give you a perspective, these guys sound like Americans speaking in my local slang, which is very fascinating, somewhat odd but intriguing at the same time, (except some words e.g blem, bean, marved etc are not used in U.K).The Canadian accent is virtually indistinguishable from a US accent to a U.K. listener. It seems that Canadians take offence to UK people insiniuating that Canada is 'copying' the U.K's slang, and that UK take offense to the opposite. Don't let UK comments fool you, we don't all believe that Canada stole our slang, because it belongs to Jamaica. The UK people commenting are just ignorant. However, there are distinct differences in the way Jamaican slang is used in the U.K. and in Canada. In the U.K. Jamaican slang is the dominant hood slang across the WHOLE country e.g Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Wales, Leeds etc. So people with funny Northern English accents speak the same slang as someone from London, only the accent differs (it's very funny to witness this). Also, because the Jamaican slang is so widespread within the UK, it extends to predominantly white ghettos, so even white English poor kids use Jamaican slang dialect. It's a part of UK culture - even BBC comedy skit shows include it. Whereas, in Canada, it seems that Jamacian slang is not popular across the whole country, however I may be wrong.
Alex Adenuga Tdot slang is prominent in Southern Ontario but not the rest of the country... but to put it in perspective there is about 15 Mill people in Southern Ontario and only 35 million in all of Canada.. It's also spoken by all races in Toronto. we have been speaking this way since the 70s...
Alex Adenuga it's about ten % of Canada's population use or understand it... It's easier to learn and use by any Canadian that entwine or come across some positive Jamaicans/Caribbean . #jamaidian 🇯🇲🇨🇦💯
Alex Adenuga what a terrific breakdown. If London and Toronto were people they would be cousins. The same cultures make up both places. The black community in Toronto is Ghanaians, Somalis, Nigerians, Jamaicans , Trini, Barbados, Guyanese, these are the groups that are centred in certain areas like Jane and finch, Rex dale, malvern. Almost all of us got family in the UK lol. This talk is primarily used in Toronto and the cities bordering Toronto. If you listen to bakardi slang by kardinal offishall from. 2001 h breaks it down. Back then patwa was used more heavier cause most those guys came to Canada as little kids. This generation mostly born in Canada. Also American can tell we have an accent different from theirs.
"The nerve of you to tamper with my headgear, you know I'm in dire need of grooming! You act as if I'm incapable of an exceptional amount of damage towards your body" I'm dying 😂 these translations tho
Young P.X stfu y u hating... The UK colonised u... Other than Drake our rap scene is way litter than urs, that's y ur guy I'd messing with us. Get outta here with ur dutty self. KMT.
Yo i just love all the work that goes into this, on a real note. The graphics, the acting, the scenes, the people, the sound effects, the amount of EXTRAness that gwans in the whole video; everything that goes into the video. 4yall doing big things for themselves and for the GTA. Respects
Fuck TDot. Just because it was older doesn't make it better. Kardinal Offishall was alright but we were never popping until Drake came along and put a spotlight on the 6.
You can really see the people who are new to 4 yall since Drake put them on more life, up to this point all the talk between London and Toronto man has been bless still
To The U.K. people who are saying Toronto "stole" their slang obviously don't know that the slang from both cities is because of the CARRIBEAN (not just jamaican) influence in both Toronto and London. Anyone who is carribean or has carribean parents could tell you that.
I'm Jamaican and Trinidadian and Tobagonian mixed and mi speak both languages and mi hear both languages in their slang. I'm not from Canada or the U.K. and have never been but just by the video alone, they switch their slang up
YOOOOOO THIS IS HILARIOUS!!!!! I've been subscribed for a while but for some reason I missed the first T-DOT GOON SCRAP DVD so shout out to Drake for putting it on More Life! I actively watch their vlog channel tho & the editing is ALWAYS A1! I hope they have some behind the scene footage cause this is amazing honestly!!!!!!
Yo it's funny cause as an American I peeped the Caribbean influence on UK slang when I was in high school(2010) as I started playing way more FIFA and getting turned onto grime music. Growing up on the east coast (big island presence in cities like NY,Philly, Boston, etc) I had mad friends straight from the Caribbean so actual patois and creole was commonly used. However in order to go deeper I started using uk slang and none of my Caribbean friends knew what I was saying lolol. I just graduated from college and one of my boys is from Toronto (big up Scarborough). He and I use basic tdot/U.K. Slang in our regular conversations now lolol. Americans definitely aren't hip. Big up 4yall though. Big up U.K. Too. Much love from philly!
blissfulwinnie You & I are the same. I been a Dirty Jerz/New Yorker for years till I hit up T.O, LDN and the Caribbean. Man dem have the lingo still. America is the home land, but learning the rest of Anglophone slang connects you to WAY more ppl dem.
