I got my first herniated disk L4/L5 12 years ago. My mom gave me a LG3000 analog TENS unit that she didn't use any more. That thing saved my life! I've owned several over the years. The place I went for PT talked me out of the disk fusion surgery I was planning, and the TENS unit was a big part of why I didn't have surgery. That said, you definitely have to be carefull with it. It can hurt you if it gets turned up all the way all at once. God bless who every invented this contraption.

I have been using my TENS 7000 for the past 20 years whenever my L4, L5, S1 start sending pain from the back down into my buttocks and down my legs. IT IS A LIFESAVER !! I use it for about 30 min at a time, sometimes I might use it 3 x in the day and VOILÀ, no more excruciating pain. I might put on a cream mixture of Diclofenac ( now sold over the counter) and a cream that has CBD in it ( also sold in a little shop nearby, legally), Icy Hot, Arnica salve and some comfrey salve or liquid. I mix this up very well and put it in an airtight container then use it sparingly on the lower back. The proper proportions of each are up to you !!
@yvonneanderson4
@yvonneanderson4 Год назад
I bought the TENS 7000, the least expensive and simplest ( you just need the unit to regulate the time and strength of output). The last one I bought as a gift was approx $20 and get lots of sticky pads ( about $15 for 50). Much cheaper than going to your Chiropracter that you have on speed dial.
@mrgimble2

I spent a small fortune on a Chiropractor for my lower back pain. I spent pennies on a TENS unit and have gotten FAR more relief from it than the Chiropractor could ever give me. Of coarse you guys don't advise using the TENS unit, you might lose some money! 99% of the doctors I've seen don't know any damn more than I do! Keep your advise, I'll keep my TENS!

I agree , i.e. chiropractors are for people with good backs who want to keep them that way. I have had the same unit that was given to me after my fusion surgery ( what a dumbass mistake they was ) anyway I saw one over the counter @ Walgreens. Can’t remember what price just was reasonable. With or without just search here for therapy but be careful & never go near a neurosurgeon.

@@MrWhitelightning73 I got a prescription TENS unit with a lot of pads at a yard sale 30 years ago for $10. I asked the gal twice if she was sure she wanted to sell it. I suspect it belonged to her ex husband. Years later I asked my fairly new doctor to prescribe some more pads. He lost his shit, demanded to know how and why I had a prescription only medical device without a prescription. I ended up firing him to his face & walking out over his behavior the next visit. He should have thought to prescribe me one for my bad neck & back long before I told him I had one. Instead he was a dick about it all, as if I was taking someone else's prescription drug. It's nice to see they've lost control over such devices and that they're now available and affordable to all. Now, if we could only get our own MRI machines for cheap....

Steven Schultz ~ the EMPI (DJO Company) TENS unit is used for pain. I use mine for the pain I have in my neck (although one should NEVER place the electrodes on the neck, but only at the base of the neck ~ and NOT ANYWHERE near veins!!! I use mine also in my Thoracic area (just at the base and in between my shoulder blades), as well as my Lumbar region. I also have procedures done to include TPI's, EPI's, FJI's, RFA's. It is NOT for weight loss! (You CAN'T be SERIOUS!) It is used for PT/pain!!

The device helps with certain body parts. I have to add though, do not use electrical pulse device if you have tight pelvic floor. Then you want to lengthen and relax the muscles, not contract it even more. Electrical pulses induce contractions, making muscle tighter, and you need it looser and relaxed, with pelvic area.

I am a PTA and I have epilepsy. I have been a patient( wrist/shoulder) with TENS and have accidentally forgot to turn it off working with a patient( oops) so don't put everyone in a box. I know this is 12 years old, but this reminds me of people who would ask if I could do this. I can do what I want. I just graduated with my bachelors summa cum laude and I'm getting my masters. Also, if my PTA program knew I had epilepsy and knew the contraindications and epilepsy was one of them they wouldn't have let me try it.

Hi! Question about the Dr Ho’s circulation promoter-the manual doesn’t say anything about either using a conductive gel or a saline solution, they say to use plain tap water (we all know that most tap water contains minerals will alter the flow of electrical current). Next there is no where in the manual that indicates the amount of current (uses two AAA batteries) - could this lead to burns. Hubby is suffering with plantar fasciitis and a friend recommended this circulation promoter. Right now he wants to try this gadget, added a dr schools heel pad to his foot wear, wears oophoo’s (sp?) in the house. I suggested the frozen water bottle for the affected foot and of course physio. Currently, the recommended to see physio is going on deaf ears 😢. Any suggestions?

There is no end to Doctors and dentists that contradict your statement that these cannot be used on the face. It is a safe treatment for TMD. Read up on placement and you should be fine. I place one on my TMJ and a second one the rear base of my skull (neck) or second one on the angle of my jaw or just forward of the angle (depending on what muscles you are targeting).

@kathleentripp5262

Yes, I would talk to surgeons but there is a chance that he has perhaps a long term neuropathy... You want to check with them of course if the Tens unit would be safe to use but I can tell you that I was in a horrible headon collision major injuries and just recently after unrelenting pain for 9 yrs. I bought a Tens unit to use on right foot, which had severe pain and neuropathy and while I had it on it helped with the burning, numbness, and tingling and after taking it off after awhile it would come back. I finally ended up getting my Marijuana Certification in AZ. and it was recommended to me to us a topical Marijuana cream on the foot as long as I use it once per day I am 90% better which is a major miracle because I was in tears with this pain, I was irritable all the time due to the pain, it has also reduced my blood Pressure 15 points on both ends, but I also want to continue using the Tens as well which I think would help that little bit more.... Good luck

Save your money for physiotherapy. There are about 58 warnings, cautions, adverse reactions and contraindications in the manual you should read before purchase. One warning is “This device should be used only under the continued supervision of a licensed physician.” So right there you should not purchase for personal use. One of the cautions is “Stimulation delivered by this device may be sufficient to cause electrocution. Electrical current of this magnitude must not flow through the thorax or across the chest because it may cause a cardiac arrhythmia.” The unit I purchased malfunctioned and I got the full intensity on my muscles and tendons which you would not like to feel. It is not worth the purchase.

Most of this is a no-brainer, but some people... O.o Anyhoo, whatabout menstrual cramps? And if it works, would it be a bad idea to put 2 in front and 2 in back or would that be okay? TY

I certainly would never use 2 in front and 2 in back... I can't remember if it said in video about don't put it through body at all or not but the instruction manuals say and show not to do that....... It is all common sense....

After 6 months of my THR on my left femur, I still had hip and leg pain. Similar to Sciatica. The PT tried the TENS, and I was in more pain, as soon as he turned the machine on. Was the pain reactivated due to the metal implants? It felt like a knife hitting the nerve. Please reply, what frequency or machine can the PT use, to reduce my pain?

is this advice for all tens units? because some sites say it is safe and effective to use on your neck. But a nurse used this on my moms neck and now she is in pain.

what they mean is the trap muscle running down either side of the upper back neck area. if your confused use look at an anatomy chart and see the trapezius muscle

I've heard in some articles not to apply it to the front of the neck! Read up on it to be sure :)

I feel like most of this is common sense. Maybe there are some idiots who are putting it on their temples for a headache so I guess a video like this makes sense. If you guys/gals use the type of gel electrodes shown in the video you can use Aloe Vera sunburn relief gel to make them sticky again. Just smear a little bit of it on the adhesive side and voila they will be ultra sticky again. The electrical conductivity is maybe 90 percent of what it originally was. I know they sell little bottles of gel for this specific purpose for 15 dollars but you can buy a gigantic bottle of Aloe Vera for 4 or 5 bucks and it should last you from the time your kids are born to the time they get their Masters Degree. I am not joking the bottles are huge. I wonder if you can use the gel from an Aloe plant. I will have to do some experimentation.

There are a lot of articles and studies my MD's and PHD's that use TENS on facial muscles with no problems. None of them decry use on the temples, unless it is across temples (intercranial). Idiots are people who rely on "common sense" , not having the common sense to arm themselves with actual knowledge.

“Do not use on neck, that’s your carotid artery, that could throw THINGS off” I don’t use it there, but DETAILS would be nice! lol
@kellyccc
@kellyccc 4 года назад
Common sense that you don't do anything that interferes with the carotid artery. If you don't know what it is or what it does or why you shouldn't mess with it, Google it. It's a short video, they're not going to give you every answer you want, they're just telling you areas not to put it. Don't be lazy, do your own research. Btw, my TENS unit instructions had the exact list of places not to use as Bob and Brad listed.
