Every once in a while you happen upon a treasure when someone is getting out of the hobby. I was able to convert this T-Maxx to electric with all the parts that I got, and guess what?!? Istill have enough left over to rebuild a nitro/gas one (may be a video later on)!!!
So I go through some trials and tribulations on this truck, mostly transmission issues, but I've had to replace chassis parts as well. But giving this truck life again has been a lot of fun!
BONUS: FUNNY EXCHANGE BETWEEN ME AND ELENA AT THE END!

It was a lot of trial and error. I'm still having issues with the spur. It'll be back on the bench soon to iron those issues out and probably go back to the 3 speed gearing! 😆 🤣 😂

Haha I can't find a video of it either, I was going out on a limb anyway, just sparked a memory from an old video game, lol But I will be converting my tmaxx to brushless!

@@italianboy0220 I’m revisiting this build! I have a new body for it, and I’m going to be putting the 3 speed back in it because…. Why not? Also I keep melting the spur gear over and over! Good luck with your build!

Cool video iam in process I have a revo 3.3 nitro which has broken reverse gear I bought a forward only gear set iam making a motor mount for electric brushless motor right now i have 4 nitros 2 tmaxx and 2 revos and i have decided this revo to build electric just want to see it go on electric nothing wrong with the nitro set up just changing the set up so figuring out the parts. Anyways thumbs up and I subbed

i just converted a revo 3.3 to a 6s brushless system lock up the second gear in the trans. you will have forward and reverse and brakes

It's been 2 Years, How's the duration of the System? People been saying it's not healthy for the ôter since it's a 1/10 System not 1/8

The only issue that I've had is with the slipper clutch. It/They get really hot and start slipping a lot. I have the slipper clutch eliminator, but I haven't gotten around to putting it on yet. It is on my todo list soon. I'll post an update when I do it.

Do you think it was worth the money to do it? I have an old tmaxx 2.5 that im thinking about trying to do this too but I’ve never done anything like this before l.

Their easy to do, I’m actually doing two 2.5 tmaxx’s over to electric right now!

@@kylewinchester7153 really? What are you going off of? What do you think it’s going to cost you after everything? I just have the old transmitter and receiver so would have to change that as well and I don’t want to put crazy money into it lol

I have not been able to successfully get a nitro to work for me, not for lack of trying, but electric has been a lot quicker and easier, I ended up selling all the nitro parts which completely funded another electric motor and esc!

what did you use for the motor mount?

I traded for this truck and the guy had already bought the parts for the conversion and just never did it, so I don’t know exactly. It looks like the generic ones you can find on eBay or Amazon. There are no markings on it at all. I’m pretty sure any of those will work just as well.

I've still.got one of these in the shed and thought about doing something like this but there's just too much old school plastic in the driveline.

Yeah, but you can still get replacement parts relatively inexpensively online or I go to my LHS. I’ve been pretty lucky and the biggest issue that I’ve had is that spur gear. I guess that VXL has some really good torque! That’s probably what’s been saving most of the driveline.

@@letstryitrc yep mine had a steady diet of spur gears even with the nitro engine I could just imagine how it would like the power of a proper brushless can.. I was thinking of making some.mounts so I could just use the centre diff from something else in there eliminating the traxxas tranny all together but I still do t think the duffs would take it very long

@@ozjado I think my next move is going to be putting the 3 speed back in there and just not having reverse, would like to do something for the brakes, but probably just not have one of those either. I have to play with it.

I did the same conversion on my tmaxx 3.3 and by removing the 1st gear and locking the second gear in place will get you foward reverse and brakes. Also metal spur and pinion will solve all the issues. Nice truck tho!

@@ZINIGANGVLOG I went with the Vileneon ESC and Motor… the only special part that I had to find was the motor mount which I found on eBay. I’ll put together an Amazon part list for you that’ll work.

It seemed as though your one-way bearing is shot which makes 1st gear spin. So it was trying to catch 2nd gear engagement from a dead stop.

Yeah, the case was split the whole time making it miss the gears…. The single speed conversion worked out pretty well though

I have the 160a hobby wing hobao esc, arrma spektra 3200 kV motor, 72 spur, 20 pinion gear, locked in 2nd gear with 4 bolts no first gear....tmaxx 3.3....4 s 5000mah Lipo, homemade aluminum motor mount........45 min run time

That is a stout setup!!! I have to revisit this project, I kept burning up spur gears and haven't messed with it in a while. Thanks for sharing!

@@letstryitrc Throw a steel spur on that bad boi. you can pick one up with an assortment of steel pinions on Amazon/ebay for about $12.

I agree! I just like having the ability to stop when I need to! 🤣 but the 3 speed would be dope too!!! And I know I could use the stock break and add another servo, but I’m all or nothing!

Bro why are you using the transmission??? It's going to be geared way too low and be slower than the nitro engine and less efficient

Yeah bro! The single speed conversion hasn’t really been that fun and I burned up a ton of spurs… like literally melted through the centers. I plan on putting the 3 speed back in and just giving up reverse

@@letstryitrc hey man don't give up yet. You can change the gearbox so that it's solid single gear, for instant torque. and change the spur gear to a higher ratio and it'll be faster than a nitro and perfect.

@@letstryitrc then reverse gear won't be needed to reverse and it will run just like an electric. I think the e-maxx had that setup
