Trust me, I've seen hundreds of live metal bands. Nothing beats Motorhead in a small venue. Never heard anything that loud. I was yelling at my friend's ear and he was hearing nothing lol
I saw them just before the Overkill tour in West Runton Pavilion, Norfolk, England - ie the middle of nowhere. I don't know what the capacity was but the venue was barely bigger than a village hall. It was so loud I lost balance at one point and my ears rang for about 3 days - not really very healthy but a landmark life event for me.
Have you been to a Sunno))) concert? Very very loud, but all low frequencies, it vibrates your chest, but is quite manageable to listen to. Another loud band is Lightning Bolt, not metal, just a drummer and a bassist, but they use such high frequencies it causes the most tinitus out of any band i have heard live, but i never got to hear motorhead live :(
I'm going to recommend the title track from the album "Orgasmatron" and the song "Deaf Forever" from the same. Hard-hitting stuff that will have your fist pumping in the air!
I got to see Motörhead up-close and personal at The Stone (RIP) in San Francisco. The loudest show I had ever experienced. I was thrilled to stand next to Lemmy at the bar during the opening set. Also said hello to James Hetfield, who was in the crowd (this was around the time of Ride the Lightning, if memory serves). Be sure to listen to Orgazmatron (pay attention to the lyrics) as well as two early live tracks from the No Sleep ‘till Hammersmith album: Bomber and WE ARE THE ROAD CREW!!!
Love yer reviews bud.. gotta admit I'm surprised after your journey through the harder and faster bands of metal that you are just now finding motorhead.. the band that basically invented thrash metal as we know it.
I saw this tour back in the day damn these guys were loud saw both the Bomber and Overkill tours also been a MotorHead Banger since i was 14 R.I.P Lemmy Phil and Eddie
Right of the bat i'd say: Iron Fist, Killed By Death, Dr. Rock, Bomber, Overkill, Electricity, Stone Dead Forever, Eat the Rich, No class, Dead Man Tell No Tales, Too Late Too Late, Damage Case, Born to Raise Hell, When the Sky Comes Looking for You, Motorhead...is it enough for an hour? those are my favorite ones
I remember the first time I heard Motorhead it was on a Late Late night music show on the ABC (Australian broadcast corporation) call Rage and it was a double feature Ace of Spades and Eat the Rich
My dear friend i don't even know you i don't know who you're, but everytime i see your reactions and i watch you enjoying this music and loving all this bands and all i can do is respect you for your interest in this heavy metal music that means so much for me and for many many metal heads in the last 40 years. That's why i consider you my metal brother, all the respect from México City. Please you must react to so many bands like gravestone, tyrant, steeler from Germany, or Candlemass from Sweden, Cathedral from England or to my favorite guitar player John Norum from the band Swedish band Europe. Stay heavy!!
I never did this as a request cause I figured you might have heard this on tv or in a movie.. this is their popular / "overplayed" song. It's a good song but I'm glad you heard some of their other tunes first.
You’ve got to hear live album “No Sleep Till Hammersmith” it’s even heavier. Loudest concerts ever recorded, did structural damage to the venues from sheer volume!
Here is your playlist for the livestream man - from the top of my head - these will kick your ass - I left out Ace of spades since you did it today but these will start the addiction for you - Bomber, Jailbait, Killed By Death, No Class, Iron Fist, Orgasmatron, metropolis, We are the road crew, overkill, MotorHead, Stone Dead Forever, Rock n Roll, Damage Case - I know I am missing a ton more but start here
You could try one of these tracks T. Snaggletooth, shine, over your shoulder we are the road crew, going to Brazil, locomotive, motorhead, capricorn, damage case, iron horse, metropolis. This is a small selection of all the songs I would recommend. Sorry to anyone if I didn't list your own favourite, but I know that it's one of the ones I didn't get to list here.
Became a huge fan when I was working in Scotland in 81'. Check out Iron Fist, I'm the Doctor, and Dancing On Your Grave to name a few. Also listen to the cover by Drain S. T. H. of Ace of Spades. They made it their own instead of just another sounds like.
You know I'm born to lose, And Gambling's for fools , But that's the way I like it, Baby, I don't want to live forever! Maybe the greatest lines in rock history
Motörhead has extremely many bangers. More than any other band i really love. But for some reason they never got as big as they should have. One of their greatest albums called "Another perfect day" Sold almost nothing and people hated it for seemingly no reason.
They're all gone.. Lemmy, Filthy & Fast Eddie.. Lemmy was such a badass that, even though he had terminal cancer he continued to tour. He played his last concert 9 days before he passed on..
I'd recommend, 'I Ain't No Mr Nice Guy' for more Motorhead. Aaaaaaand also going a little back in time to Hawkwind, the band Lemmy was in before Motorhead, try, Silver Machine' or 'Lost Johnny' both of which Lemmy provides vocals for. I would guess, being from the States that you know the origin of the term Motorhead! The documentary, 'Lemmy' is quite frankly amazing if you have never seen it. Did you know he was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix? Used to score acid for him! He tells that story in the movie!
At that time they were the fastest, heaviest thing out there. Put in perspective, this was before Metallica, Slayer, etc. One of my favorites is Orgasmatron
I don't know how often I I have the pleasure to see them since 1984, sometimes it was tree times the year on different festivals. My all time favorite songs are: Bomber Ace of Spades No voices in the sky Killed by death Orgasmatron Dead man tell no tales 1916.
Such an awesome song!! If you want another song that packs a punch you have to check out Fire Down Under by Riot......just like Ace of Spades it smokes & all under 3 minutes lol. Enjoy the reactions, Thanks!!
Shocked you never heard this one. Iron Horse/Born to Lose, (We Are) The Road Crew, Just 'Cos You Got the Power, Orgasmatron, Shoot You in the Back, Metropolis, Capricorn, Bomber, No Class.
Lemmy what a man , got kicked out of Hawkwind for taking the wrong type of drugs, listen to Silver Machine (Lemmy on vocals) but also my favourite track by Motorhead, Deadmen tell no tales.
T, two totally contrasting songs by Motorhead you should listen to. 1. Overkill (there's a live HD gig in Germany that's just killer) 2. 1916 - A ballad (yes, a ballad) about WWI, Lemmy was a huge war historian and this song is so damn poignant.
"We are Motorhead and we play rock n roll" - Lemmy's introduction at every gig. Loads of people have recommended so many Motorhead songs but for me to get where Lemmy started from listen to Silver Machine by Hawkwind. Lemmy was the bass player with them and their lead singer took ill and couldn't do the song so they tried everyone in the band to see who could do and no one could until one of the band members said let Lemmy do it and as they say the rest is history.
Ok, I'm back with my Motorhead Request!! A Short but Sweet Tune off the BASTARDS Album (which is debatablely one of their most Heaviest albums) Just going to go with the song called "BURNER"!!
^ ^ Not only Is this a great song but .....But Phil Taylors drumming in thsi is just off the scale ! Evey thing louder than everything else! Foxy Pagan Love fae Scotland VVxx
This album came out in 1980...mightve been recorded in 79. It was the 40th anniversary last year. Ace of Spades was the first Motorhead album to be sold in the US..despite the fact they'd already put out 3 other albums and the band was 5 years old by that point. I think Scott Ian from Anthrax said when he first saw the album with the band dressed in western gear and bullet belts "who are these Mexicans and how do they play so fast!" 🤣
