Growing up as a weirdo in the Midlands of UK, Motorhead were the band that united punks, goths, new romantics, hippies, thrasher, nobody complained if Motorhead came on. And Ace Of Spades was kind of the outsider anthem of 80s and late 70s.

So true, I remember rock clubs of the day and you'd get the different factions sitting together and keeping to themselves, but certain bands and songs came along which united everyone, this was definitely one. I always hated traditional heavy metal, I loved punk, post punk, Indie (mainly, I was an Indie Kid), ska and lots of other music, folk, blues etc., but always hated metal, but like most of my peers, Motorhead changed that as its almost impossible not to love this song!

I am 62 years old and the survivor of 14 Motorhead tours. The best sound equipment in the business. Crystal-clear sound powered by some distant alien Sun from another Galaxy. It was so powerful and so loud that we thought they were going to blow us out the back of our concert halls. And we were looking forward to it. First heard this song in The Young Ones, as Motörhead played in their flat while they ran to their quiz show. Moving to Los Angeles, I made sure to hit iconic locations. One of these was The Rainbow Room on Sunset. As soon as I walked in, there was Lemmy, sitting at his usual spot at the bar. I was taken aback and decided to just thank him and shake his hand. He invited me to have a seat. We talked for quite a while. I went in for dinner and came out with so much more. What a night! Saw him a couple more times before he died. A♠️

My parents bought me a turntable and stereo with 2 times 20W output for christmas in 77. Got 20 german marks as well. few days later I had the first Motörhead LP. NEVER in the history of parentship have parents regretted buying a stereo more... :-) Loved that disc more than anything. Saw Lemmy at age 15 the first time live and 18 times altogether, the 18th was his second last gig ever in Ludwigsburg/Germany - 14 days before his death, at age 50. He was 'with me' for 35 years and never changed. He was a shadow of himself, but did his utmost to entertain the crowd. When I heard the news of his death I cried. This man was one of very few true RocknRoller.

I love and appreciate your input on rock music. As far as rock music goes, Motorhead is in my library. Today's music is commercialized and edited. Back in the day, it was 'in your face'. Even with the success Motorhead had, Lemmy stayed the same. Down to earth and simple. He made millions. But he kept a simple lifestyle. He was about the music. RIP Lemmy, you are truly missed.

You are not kidding, I saw that original 3-some point blank, literally leaning on the stage. When they turned the amps on we all looked at each other, we saw some heading for the rear of the hall. The late Ian 'Lemmy' Kilminster was one of rock's ultimate warriors. A true-believer, who used to drink whiskey in pint glasses and deafen his audience of ardent admirers. One anecdote that springs to mind is the time the band (originally to be called 'Bastard') were tuning up before a gig, only for a man five miles away to phone the venue and complain he couldn't hear his TV!

The reason why you love it so much is because at it's heart, Motorhead is simply a "Rock-n-Roll" band. Not really a "Heavy Metal" band. I think the muppets character was made to be like the drummer they called animal? They say if Lemmy moved in next to you, your lawn would die! Lemmy lived on cigarettes and jack&coke drinks. That’s why his voice was the way it was. He sat and played video poker in a bar the Whiskey, I believe , on THE SUNSET STIP in Los Angeles. When he wasn’t on tour, you could find him there every day, sitting at the end of the bar, minding his own business. Roger in Pierre South Dakota

So, some fun facts about Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. - He plays the bass like the guitar because he was a originally a guitarist for the band “Hawkwind”. At one of the shows their bassist didn’t show up, so Lem served as the bassist. - Before he was in a band, Lemmy served as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix allegedly told him he wouldn’t make it. - The song “Mama I’m coming home” was written by Lemmy for his friend Ozzy Osborne.

Lemmy wasnt just a rock and roll icon and hellraiser (would drink every day) but he was also an intelligent guy and had a very strong opinion about stuff - he also collected german war memorabilia. He initially started off by being the roadie for another band called Hawkwind and then became bassist for them. He got kicked out for drug misuse (yeah really!) and then went on to form Motorhead. He used to have the mike upwards so he could perform without looking at the audience. Was once considered the loudest band in the UK in the 80s and 90s. They also teamed up with Girlschool a female UK rock for St Valentines Day Massacre/Please Dont Touch and also the Nolan Sisters (not the typical rock group you would associate with Motorhead, they were clean cut goody two shoes) but yeah, Lemmy was a character. He got diagnosed with cancer two days before his birthday in 2015 and died two days after his birthday RIP
