Tim: Finally I have completed viewing all your videos, no comments but i did hit the thumbs up button. I just want to say, the effort you go through making and producing these videos is outstanding. The green screen, annotations, camera views are really top knotch. I'm in the process of shopping a used KLR to ride the forest roads in our area in search of the Brown trout. With that being said, I have watched a ton of KLR videos in hope to help me evaluate my purchase and have found yours to be the most informative. Thanks for showing us how "You Did It". I'm subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks again. Blue

I agree 100% Blue, I have had many KLR's. I only hope you get as new of a Gen 2 as your budget will allow from what I THINK I've noticed 2011 seems to be the next year where Kawasaki makes a bunch of "mods" that might save you from spending any of the money most us owing 2008-2010 putting progressive front springs, and on the 2011 also has a better rear shock, I Think I read, I know that a great company that makes a killer brake pad dual position (one position for standing, and sitting) I agree Tim's install or "How I did it " video's are the best, I asked if would consider doing showing a EBC front 320 mm Rotor install with an eagle mikes caliber relocation bracket. Good luck, again if you haven't already bought one I hope you really consider 2011 or newer and I'm sure you can find one with 5k miles, for 3500-4000 or maybe lower depending on where you live, lucky guy somewhere near the elusive brown brook trout.

Instead of shaving the fender down in the back to raise the front, I just added several washers to the front bolts to raise it. No need to cut the fender.

Tim, Great videos and explanations for techno-geeks like me. I bought the fork-brace to relocate the fender. Though I did not mind the looks of the stock-fender, I felt that it was grabbing too much wind at hwy speeds. I noted that the forks were very long-legged, too. So, the fork-brace just made sense, and I liked that Eagle-Mike provided for an optional way to lower the fender. I noted that the those holes do line up with the factory fender holes. So, I simply used the factory fender as a template for the UFO fender I purchased -as recommended by you. Looks GREAT!!

Thanks for the great video...I've order the Eagle Mike fork brace and fender kit...everyone refers to the Acerbis fender but I never liked the look of it. Your UFO choice looks beautiful and I appreciate all the details you shared on custom fitting as well as the Amazon link to the correct product. You are a master of detail! Thanks!

Discovered your videos today. Great stuff. I have a 2007 KLR and still have a few mods I need - fork brace and lower fender, fork springs, and better lighting, to name a few. Will definitely subscribe and keep an eye on your channel. Headed out next Nov. to follow the Baja 1000 on my KLR. I guess I better get busy.

Hey, Thanks you have swayed me to the UFO fender, I really didn't like the stock gen 1 fender, I have the brace and the Ricor springs & intimanators installed already, this fender will finish it off nicely!

In the process of going through your videos and they are great. Don't even have a KLR but I am seriously considering it once I have room for more than one bike. Maybe sooner if the trails keep calling but my Monster would have to go. Thanks for taking the time to make these. Any more coming soon?

Are you running the stock front wheel? I laced up an 18" front rim at a Tech Day and I was able to mount my fender to the bottom of Mike's fork brace. I'm too old to fall off off-road anymore, so my KLR is a streeter. I can still run graded fire roads. I lowered the front fork tubes 1", Eagle Mike lowering kit, progressive fork springs, and an after market shock spring. It does a fantastic job of carving the mountain roads around where I live and does not react to side winds. Running Michelin Macadam tires, will be switching to the appropriate Pirellis next.

Looks really awesome man. Great job. Where can i get the parts to do the same thing on my klx250? Really the fork brace is the main factor. The fender is easily found
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 6 лет назад
Adventure Riders - I got this fork brace from Eagle Manufacturing (Eagle Mike), it is for the KLR 650, I'm not sure if it will fit the KLX 250. You should check with them before ordering. Thanks for watching.

Seems with the eagle mike or super brace the fork covers do not sit as before. I've seen lots of dust and mud get in under the cover. I saw that you have added a zip tie. Has this helped?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 5 лет назад
Hi Robert, Yes the zip ties really help to hold the boots in place on the fork brace.
@mrthomaslaux1
@mrthomaslaux1 7 лет назад
good day, Tim. Can u do this with the stock fender with the EM fork brace?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 7 лет назад
thomas laux - The stock fender will work when lowered. However, since it is larger and has a greater curve than the ones usually used when lowered, it will cover more of the front tire than you may want. The mounting to the Eagle Mike fork brace will work fine. Perhaps there are others out there who've done it and can comment. You can also google for images of "KLR650 lowered front fender" and there are a few pictures of the stock fender lowered. The fork brace can still be used with the stock fender in the original location. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

What tires do you like to use? How about k60 scout? Thx Tony
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 7 лет назад
Tony Castro - I am currently running the K60s on front and rear. I've had them for a year and have been very happy with the rear. the rear has worn well and long and given me great performance both on and off road (although a bit noisy on road). I have been less pleased with the front. It does okay on the road, but tends to slide out in loose surfaces off-road. I have heard that Heidenau has changed the design on the fronts, so I can't speak to the new design. My next set will be a Mitas E-07 on the rear and a Continental TKC80 up front. I think that combo will give me a more quiet rear, yet still good all around performance and wear. The TKC80 should give much better grip off-road and it still has a good reputation for on-road for a knobby. Thanks for the question and for watching.

I am currently only riding on the street with no off road. It has been very high winds lately and my highway riding has been nerve racking to say the least. Would there be any issues/advantages with just removing the stock fender for the season? Would I get cooling issues? I plan on installing the eagle mike brace and new fender next year when I start riding again.
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 5 лет назад
Hi Joe, That stock fender can act like a sail sometimes at hwy speeds. I see no problem with 'just removing' it all together. It should not change the effectiveness of the radiator for cooling. In the rain you will get a lot more spray from the front tire. Good luck and thanks for watching.

In 2014 and a half of the KLR suspension was upgraded. I have a 2018. Do you think the progressive fork springs and rear shock are a significant upgrade over the newer KLR suspension? I have access to a new set of progressive suspension I can put on my 2018 but wondering if it's worth the effort?
@awiegwa
@awiegwa 3 года назад
depends on your weight and how and where you ride it. Taking it over very rocky terrain and riding it like a dirtbike? Then upgrade the suspension....just riding forest roads with occasional gnar...then don't stress over it and go ride.

I am using the UFO "Supermotard" Universal Spade (also known as "Supermoto Style 2") in Black, but they are available from UFO/Tuf Racing in several colors. The "spade" style has the flare at the front tip.
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 7 лет назад
Hi Mike - The nylon spacers I used were 1 inch long and you can trim those as needed to get the angle you desire. The aluminum spacers were 3/4". As for the light mounting, yes I do have a video. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O4tyI5s7v-A.html Thanks for the questions and for watching!

Can you use back the original fender with the eagle Mike fork brace ?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 6 лет назад
Angelo K - Yes, you can use the original fender with the Eagle Mike fork brace, but it does look a bit odd with such a long fender. I have seen guys run them just fine.

Is their a benefit too lowering the fender or is it just for looks?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 4 года назад
Some may lower the fender for looks, but I did it to reduce the amount of spray from the front wheel when riding in rain and mud. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

What's with the front tire is that a directional tire backwards
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 4 года назад
It's a Heidenau K60 Scout. The direction is not reversed. I did not care for this front tire. I really like the K60 as a rear tire, but I would go with a more knobby-like front. Thanks for watching.
@TheMarky26
@TheMarky26 4 года назад
There doesnt look like much clearance between the fork brace and the tire..With a more aggressive set of tires would that rub?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 4 года назад
I think that even with a knobby tire, it would still clear. However, mud build-up may be a problem. Thanks for the question and for watching.
