The distinctive loud roar as the T-6 Texan flies over is actually a continuous sonic boom from the tips of the propeller breaking the sound barrier constantly.
@@NatedoGPYes, unless the propeller is designed properly. If it’s designed correctly, it can have it’s prop tips go over Mach 1 no problem. The XF-84 Thunderscreech had it’s prop tips go Mach 1.18 only in Idle so you can only imagine how fast they’d go when it’s prop spins up to max RPM. In fact that plane’s prop was so loud it not only drowns out the jet engine completely used to drive it (even if it has an afterburner like the navy XF-84s. Yes, a turboprop with an afterburner. All of us know how loud an afterburner is so imagine that), but it makes u literally sick when you’re constantly being struck by powerful shockwaves from those prop tips
Tomorrow, I have a Texan coming in the hangar to "prep" for the last year of the Reno Air Races... I couldn't be more happy! Now the *real* issue, falling asleep. 😂
Hi there, I was wondering if I could use parts of this video in a top 10 airplane video that im creating? I would be able to give you full credit for the original content. Thanks
I am from Uruguay. Our Air Force used this famous Advanced Trainer in the fifties & sixties (as well as many other air forces worldwide). I am no pilot, but I notice she has a somewhat restricted forward visibility while on the ground...
That's why they never taxi in a straight line: straight ahead, they see nothing. They always undulate along the taxiway so they can see past the engine.
Can you pass this question on to a qualified Harvard pilot, please! QUESTION: I know you would never normally do this, but would it be possible to start a Harvard by hand swinging the prop, or would the engine compression be too great? Many thanks, Paul Murphy (student private pilot).
Not a T-6 pilot but i am in aircraft restoration. In theory it is possible but the T-6 has a hand crank inertial starter on the port side of the fuselage between the engine and canopy which is used in case of starter motor issues
