I have never heard Ta Nehisi Coates say anything or original or remarkable. He is treated by MSNBC/NYT/NYMAG like some profound truth-sayer...when do I hear it? I've sat through so many videos and interviews and not once have I heard him make an interesting comment, just a few ho-hum zingers. This guy is not that deep.

She's doing all the talking, just a few words from T-N. I mean, she's right, that Americans are quite properly becoming a "mixed" people like Brazilians, it makes sense. Not sure what the broader point here is. Well, MAYBE it's that DNA testing artificially makes a person seem like precise "slices" of distinct racial ancestries, but the thing is, that will change with each succeeding generation.
