Tabac, just tried it for the first time today and it's hands down the best shave soap I've ever used, too hard to explain.

So far I think this is my favourite (I use it on the stick)! I bought the After Shave which is a German scent that no one in Ireland is familiar with. It's on the old style manly scent and very traditional musky spice which gets my approval.

I love the scent, totally love it. As soon as I put it on my face I loved it. It gives me a great shave and with all shaves you should use an aftershave.

Just ordered it on amazon. Cant wait to try it out ive been using the aftershave for a while now. Here in europe, tabac is actually a pretty cheap brand

I bought tabac and was blown way how great it was. I even received so many compliments one day when I forgot to use my cologne. I received so many compliments from girls, I actually bought the cologne version, 10.1 ounces for like 12$ ! Couldn't believe it, but it doesn't have a spray, so I'm gonna buy an atomizer and pour some in there and use it as a spray rather than a splash.

Hi Nick. Tabac is one of those classics, a contemporary of Old Spice. It's fairly easy to get hold of and reasonably priced here in England. Our national chemist store chain Boots have always stocked it. Try the cologne and the balm too next time! 👍💈

Funny, i got the soap with the bowl at the same price you got the refill. Tabac is probably one of the best soaps out there, i have never seen the same lather on another soap. Considering it lasts VERY long i guess the price is normal (your persona blades cost more). I happen to like the smell a lot and don't feel it's over powering.

Tabac is amazing for straight razor shaving . It also can take quite a bit of water and still retain a thick creamy consistency.

Why the obsession over price? That's only a problem if you buy every new artisan soap or cream that comes out every month, Tabac is still cheap because it lasts far longer than most other soaps, it's so damn hard.

You know, talking about slickness… I had similar experience with “The quiet man”. Tremendous load of foam and thickness otherwise, but slickness was a little behind. I did my shave without applying preshave oil and it gave me some afterburn feeling. My sensitive area is also around the mustache and that’s where I need extra slickness too. Don’t get me wrong, the “Quiet Man” is awesome and I like it big time, but for my skin type and lack of tremendous experience in wet shaving, slickness will be very nice addition! With all of that said I think, I will skip the Tabak for now and go to give a try to “ Maleki”. Also, don’t forget that some soaps are tallow based and other glycerin and vegetable oil. The Tabac as long as I know has some tallow which is supposed to add an extra slickness compared to the plant oil based, but since I don’t have an experience , this is just a suggestion. The “Quite Man” has no tallow though!

If you make the lather thick as ice cream it needs water and that's probably why I keep seeing you speak of lack of slickness in videos. I tend to do that sometimes with face lathering, just a thought.

I agree with you 100%, amazing lather, not much slickness. One of the least slick soaps I know. When I palm lather, I take my finger and run it over scraping off the lather and see what it feels like, no slickness.

Nick, I think in all fairness you should re-evaluate Tabac. Your grip is the price and in the last year or so you have loved soaps , especially, I coloniali, that were much more expensive. Tabac lasts a long time so the cost per shave is pretty cheap.

I purchased the tabac after shave balm and loved the scent of it. Since I loved the after shave balm I decided to buy the tabac shaving soap. It lathers very well and I prefer it to the proraso shave cream I first purchased. I think it’s great but I do agree with you that it doesn’t have enough slickness

I always have proraso shave cream tubes in my bin. Sandalwood and the mint. Great quick shave works well with synthetic brushes. 10 yrs strong and I love the slickness.

YMMV, like they always say. I have some Tabac, but I won't buy another because of the scent. As far as lather and slickness I would give it a 10/10.

I’ve shaved with Tabac for quite some time. I like the smell and the lather is great. If you think it is not slick enough, use a small amount of Cremo for a base, with the Tabac over it. Makes for a wonderful shave. Dave

Tried Tabac soap for the first time today, don't know what all the fuss is about? Smells nice (classic old school smell) but the smell pretty much disappeared when I was lathering it up and afterwards I couldn't smell it at all. Shave was ok but other soaps lather much better and are slicker. I live in a soft water area.

it´s a german product + got high US import taxes to suffer. as germany has a high living standart the production coasts are higher than in turkey or other countrys as well. that rises up the price.

I'm on my second puck of Tabac and MWF.. Both are good soaps but if I had to choose I'm going with tabac. The slickness is just a little better and I really like the scent. If you don't like the scent of tabac and you do like the scent of mwf then it's an easy decision. MWF is a good soap! But I probably won't buy MWF again just because I like other things better. Not because it's a bad soap!

RazoRock Zi Peppino would be a good option if people don't like the strength of Tabac. It's identical, just more mild.

Love this stuff. Sort of old mans smell, but I don't care. Very nice performance, especially in super lather with a great cream. I own both the stick for travel and the soap in the bowl for home. This is among the 25 soaps I own, all of them are supposed to be at least 9/10. Tabac is no slouch. I'd rate it 9/10 :-)

Most shaving creams and soaps are premium price here in australia... But price matters not to me its the shave that counts...even if i paid $60 for one (havnt seen one there yet ive seen close) its still cheaper to buy a puck or cream than buy cans of goo...a can of goo doesnt even last me a month i like alot of lather and to have it super thick and protective as i use one of the most aggressive de's you can get shaver shop muhle...ill try tabac one day...have tried the deodorant and the aftershave if it smells anything alike ill be in heaven

Tabac is very good. I wouldn't purchase it again, but I would certainly put it on a gift/wish list. It is definitely overpriced, you can't ignore that fact.

6/26/19,,, So I received a container of Tobac today & I have not tried it as of yet from the UK for $20 which includes the soap puck and the white glass container and glass lid with also a 2 to 3 week wait for shipping but well worth the wait for the price of the soap with the glass container & lid. It is a better price savings then paying $35 to have it here in a hurry or yesterday like they say to day got to have it yesterday with todays high tech delivery services..... So Since this reply is 5 years after this video was 1ST posted,,,, & you may have ALREADY tried doing this since posting this video in 2014 ,,,,, but I'll ask any ways ,,,,, I was just wonder if it would be helpful for you to get that extra slickness from this soap on your face by adding a few drops of Vegetable Glycerin to your brush.... So maybe a few drops before or a few drops after you load the brush with soap to see if it helps to make the lather slicker on your skin and see if that helps out with extra slickness to your shave with the Tobac or any other soaps for that matter with that lack of the feel of slickness ?

Definitely check out their bay rum scent when you get it it's a slightly different take on the bay rum scent but I enjoy. Also sharpologist is where I herd about it. In my opinion its not as good as barrister and mann or synergy or ppf but its still an amazing soap.
