It's a circle (parallelogram mechanism). Its radius is the blue rocker length.

appears that the spring is extending at the end of it's closing motion which oughta slow it down some

I see, but thia extension is very small. I feel like this design doesnt't have enough damping on the downward motion, which makes it prone to catastrophic a slam-down
