Jonathan, I’ve completed this table old saw rebuild and when using the glidecote, do you coat blades also? I have used wax, but just doesn’t seem to pull its weight as well on the cast iron top, those old ones weren’t polished like the new tables and I think that may have something to do with it. It’s not worth risking taking the flat out of the table to rid it all and sending it to be resurfaced defeats the purpose of rebuilding it to afford my new planer. I’m using those top end CMT Orange Combo, Rip and CC blades you just featured from Taylor Tools (thanks a bunch for the tip off in that sale and additional discount, I got 3 quality blades for the cost of just one Forrest or comparable 👍). I know that Bostik used to have a product called bladecote, but they went and redid all their branding at some point (probably while I was off killing bad guys 🤪). So what all is glidecote good for and is there a coating you’ve used that you recommend for blades and bits of all sorts? Semper Fi and keep it up brother.

Hi Jonathan, I am embarrassed to tell you what happened. I bought a brand new Laguna Fusion 2, it arrived in February 2022, the other day on a Friday afternoon finishing work I blew the table saw clean with my compressor, on Monday morning the table saw was complete pitted, there must have been condensation (water) in the compressor and I did not release this. The question how can I repair the table saw. I am so upset....... ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!

Everyone always uses a tooth as reference . Teeth chip and wear so it makes MORE sense to use the saw body and NOT the teeth.

I would be interested in the tune up of a compound miter saw. Even after the wind up, my saw/ blade feels like it has a random shake to it. Maybe its operator error or just in need of a tune up? I have a Rigid 15 Amp Corded 12 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw with 70° Miter Capacity. It is 1 year old with a new'ish Diablo 12 in. x 100-Teeth Ultimate Polished Finish Saw Blade installed (for reference).

There is definitely some nuance to the surface cleaning process that I still don't understand. I applied vinegar and water and it removed the rust spots quickly but the entire surface rusted instantly before I could apply wax. I next tried it with the baking soda afterwards which helped, but still some corrosion formed before I could apply wax. Not to mention that the baking soda is pretty messy. A detailed video on just the surface cleaning process would be appreciated

Jonathan; great shows. I just recently purchased a used 10" King Tablesaw, and I am presently working on cleaning it up and throwing a set of wheels under it. It takes me a rather long time to complete such projects due to some rather serious upper limb injuries. I used to work with metal as I was a Blacksmith, welder, and did some basic machining for my career of 30+ years. Anyway, I purchased this amazing tablesaw for $100 as I am upgrading from a Canadian Tire brand 10" tablesaw, wow what a huge difference the King is over the Canadian Tire brand saw !

That's pretty good Jonathan. A couple comments. I would check the runout on the saw arbor face flange. Its a good idea to clean the flange with some solvent as pitch will build up on it if you change blades a lot.. You like to have less than .001" runout on the flange. You should take the runout on the blade also and you would like have less than .004" as far out as you can take it. Its a good idea, because of runout to mark a tooth with a sharpie and use the same tooth for checking blade alighnment with your indicator. Cheers

I am not sure if you do this on a regular basis, but checking your combination square for "Squareness" is extremely important. Always check your squares for "Squareness". I typically check my squares on a weekly basis, mainly because I have basically destroyed some of my metal projects due to an out of square tool. Awesome show, I have learned huge amounts from your shows, please keep up the great job. Watching in St.Marys, Ontario, Canada

Just thought of something for checking that the blade is square to the table when set at 90 degrees: the throat plate might not be perfectly flush to the table, and the part of the blade above the table is not very large for an accurate reading of squareness with the combination square. Why not remove the throat plate, then test for squareness the other way around, down in the well, with a try-square with the inside edge of the stock on the table and its blade against the saw blade (avoiding the hub, obviously)? That references the reading on the table and not the throat plate, and now we have ~8 inches of blade instead of 3 to measure squareness.
@melainekerfaou8418
@melainekerfaou8418 2 года назад
Just checked: the blade of my try square is too wide to fit in the well between the saw blade and the wall. However, that of my combination square fits nicely, with a bit of wiggle room to spare.

Hey! I have a table saw in my garage, but it's an older saw and the top is made of a rough aluminum (I think) and parts have a really tough time sliding, making it feel extremely dangerous any time I use it. What would you suggest? I kinda want a new saw. Something affordable for a home shop.

I finally got a table saw, a Rigid from 2000 or so. I have been working on getting the top rust free all day today, and most likely into tomorrow as well. Does it have to be completely Rust free? What are the detriments to having Rust on the top? And when you use the Paste Wax on it, do you wipe it all off right after you apply, or do you let it sit and dry on it first? Thanks in advance!!
