In this woodworking project I decide to upgrade my table saw. This is a project that I should have done years ago, as I do get many comments about the condition of my table saw handle… So I decided to give it an upgrade. Watch I dismantle the table saw's old handle and make a brand new one - Enjoy!

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ru-vid.comUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

The only functionality this adds is the joy of using the saw from here on out, and that can be the difference between enjoying working in your shop or not. Well done, and thanks for sharing, Jon!

Great looking turning~! I was thinking the same about that old ragged, taped-up handle. A great example of taking "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and throwing it out the window~! :-) I'm looking forward to that workstation plan. I've been searching for a good cabinet build to replace my lathe stand and that quick shot of yours looks really nice~! (So far) I'm horrible at designing my own projects, so thank the woodworking gods for guys like you~!

Nice Work Jon its the old saying The Shoemakers Son doesn’t have any Shoes thing We all neglect little things like that in our own Workshops and homes I had a piece of moulding that needed to be nailed on and despite being a Professional Woodworker for 20 years it took me 25 to nail and putty the holes on that moulding in all honesty i did it the day i moved out of the house my excuse had been my hammer and tools are at work but that day everything was in the moving truck i was using to carry all my possessions ! It took me only a couple of minutes to do And the movers to move a big heavy piece of furniture something i would never allow on a job site or a customers Project but i lived with it for all those years Go Figure ? ?

Jon, is your shop floor plywood on sleepers over a concrete floor? I recently retired and am in process of setting my old cabinetmaking shop back up. I have a 2000 sq. ft. garage with a very uneven concrete floor that is murder on my body after spending a full day on it. Wood floors are much more forgiving so the thinking is to level the floor while also making it more comfortable under foot, warmer and possibly running wiring/ducting under it.
@JonPetersArtHome
@JonPetersArtHome 4 года назад
Hi Lane, The barn had a gravel floor before and I framed it out with two by sixes and sheathed over with three-quarter inch plywood. It sounds like putting slippers down would be the way to go for you… Definitely nice having the plywood floor

@Jddlincoln
@Jddlincoln 4 года назад
Go as large as you can afford, Space is always at a premium in a wood shop. My old shop was 1500 sf, i work solo and with two kitchen builds going at one time I ran out of space. I am currently in a 20x20 shop and boy do i miss the larger shop.
@JonPetersArtHome
@JonPetersArtHome 4 года назад
The barn is 16 x 32. The upstairs is an art studio/ office. The inside wood shop is about 15.5 x 25 it used to have a covered porch before I closed it in and that’s now storage. If I could build a new shop about 30 x 40 sounds good.

Hey John, nice upgrade ;) I’m sure you’ve pondered over a Sawstop..I’ve been a contractor and builder my whole life but I’m now getting into woodworking and setting up my woodshop. I’ve always used the best contractor and jobsite tablesaws, but now that I’m using the tablesaw in a different capacity I’m considering the Sawstop Professional (though the price is outlandish and I have never used one.) Do you see the place for it over say the grizzly simply due to its safety feature? Thanks, Adam Build Guild n’ Refine TV
