Pete and Rachel talk about how the new single 'Can't Outrun The Truth' came about, why it was written, who wrote it., who produced it and who sang on it. Over a mug of tea in the kitchen, they discuss the recording of the song and about how it was all done in 2021 during lockdown with Pete in his home studio and Rachel producing whilst suffering the aches and pains of a bad back. Such is show biz!
"Can't Outrun The Truth' by Pete Townshend. Written and produced by Charlie Pepper.
Digital single out now on Polydor. Listen: petetownshend....

I saw Pete first perform with the Who in 1970 and both he and the band were incredible and the whole experience is indelibly printed in my soul!I saw Hendrix a few months before and he was not particularly memorable. Although a great player he became lauded after his death by people who were too young to have ever seen him.Pete, thankfully,is still with us and although the Who are not as such you can still see and here his talent!

I was on his personal and eelpie websites 1999-2002/3 and got LOADS of amazing (often signed) stuff he was selling. He was a genuine pioneer of the internet, I think they say early adopter, and we could interact with him too back then (Bowie too!). His inquisitiveness, and his naivety, sadly got him Into trouble which ended up ending his website etc and nearly breaking him. But actually the guy knew about the dark Corners of the internet long before the mass media and governments woke up to the issues that are now so out of control that applying any controls now appear to be censorship, which is bollocks. The free speech tag applied to SO much of the internet is appalling. But we missed the boat. Bowie knew in his interview with Paxman in 1999. Townshend is a visionary human being, in both art and music and life in general.

Only other person I heard with that gift of gab was Allen Ginsberg but, unfortunately, he passed away. When I was in school in Boulder Colorado, Mr. Ginsburg would come to the library and just talk for and hour. One time I saw him walking down the mall and offered to buy him lunch so we sat there for an hour and had a conversation. If I could buy you Lunch, Mr. Townshend, it would be a great honor.
