Thank you so much Tim! Really appreciate your comment and support, and so happy to hear you would share this with who may ask about parameters! Thank you, thank you :) :)
I guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Cole Mayson I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank you Neutrino. I appreciate your note :) ... I think the Tableau community is wonderful and I see many who share their time and knowledge as well. I am just happy to be able to contribute even a little. Thank you for your support!
Really like your Tableau training videos. They are systematic, well structured, and the key points are highlighted. For me they are the most efficient way to learn Tableau
You are a generous creator. The quality & depth you provide through your content is remarkable. This channel is literally have so much to offer to the #tableau community. You are setting some high standards here for #tableaututorials .
I wanted to know a bit about how to use parameters but I got a whole lot more!! It's jam packed with so much information, extremely practical and very easy to follow along. Thank you very much! 👏👏👏
I have more than six years of experience with tableau, I was thinking of making some videos for my students, but as far as I found your videos, I thought that is not necessary anymore. Your videos are incredibly helpful for anyone in the field. Thank you for your great effort🥰
I totally agree with Fahimeh. I too use Sqlbelle videos as best in class workshops on each of her totally free contributions. What an amazing, confident, and generous individual she is. Thank you to you and those like you (tableau Tim et al). I’ve now started to pay for the sqlbelle master classes and I’m happy that I can repay for skills I go on to get paid for using.
Parameter is the mostly I loved using in tableau with dynamic things loved the vidoe as always I don't have words to express the content quality, your the best teacher I have ever seen and I follow u a lot 🙏❤️ thank you so much.
Peter, I really appreciate your comments, your suggestions, your support, encouragement and overall positivity. Thank you, as always. I hope you are still finding value in the videos - I know you already use Tableau :)
Hi sqlbelle, can you please make a video on "SQL for Data Analytics" i.e. in depth coverage of SQL to be a successful Data Analytics/Analyst. Thank you so much !!!
Jesus, this is an amazing content, Im currently working on a tableau project and this will help me tremendously, now I have a doubt, how do you accomodate multiple table charts on a single daahboard sheet and make it look as a single spreadsheet, and be able to covert it into a PDF, and probably email it?? Sorry if the question was too long or complex, I'll be waiting for your answer anxiously #sqlbelle
Thank you Rafael :) ... I think there's a few ways to do it. I would probably try: - wider dashboard - horizontal container - put all the tables on the horizontal container, possibly distributed evenly if each table has the same number of columns, without any padding - in the past i had to put the headers differently (different worksheet) so that they look more seamless Hope this gives some ideas...
I learned a lot, as I had been struggling to understand calculated fields, filtering, and parameters! I like your videos because your voice is clear, and you speak at a pace that I can follow for learning. Thank you for posting such excellent tutorials! 👋
Thank you for your kind comment Irshad! I'll start putting together the resources in Tableau Public. I will update the description soon to include these details.
Thank you for putting this together. another well thought organized video a must-watch for anyone who works with tableau daily. awesome. keep them coming :)
Your Tableau videos are amazing. I would like to know if we go through all your tableau videos and practice regularly can we say we have an intermediate level in tableau? Like a score of 6 or 7 out of 10, 10 being the highest.
Thank you Pratheek. I think it will be a good start and I think you will get comfortable with working on some basic and intermediate functionalities, but mastery in Tableau really comes when you incorporate using it in your projects and/or daily work. If you want to practice, I would encourage you to participate in social projects like MakeoverMonday or WorkoutWednesday, and many others. www.tableau.com/community I hope this helps.
Donabell - your videos are becoming just like a Lord of the Ring series. Can't wait to for the new episode 😀 My fav was the connecting two dates from # datasets. Again - you were blessed with the talent to make hard easy and glad you are sharing with the world! THANK YOU!
Thank you Abderrahim - this is such a nice note! I don't think this really comes close to LOTR :) but I appreciate the comparison! I am happy you found it useful! :)
Amazing video Donabel! Shows your passion and efforts you take to drive your point across! Add to that the explanation, examples and demos and you are winner every time! 😊👍
So happy to hear Vijay. I look forward to your comments :) .. they're all very heartfelt. I appreciate you taking the time to provide me this feedback, and appreciate your support! I hope this was informative and that you've something new in this video even if you've been using Tableau for a while :)
@@sqlbelle Welcome Donabel! 😊 Actually speaking, everytime I go through your video, I realize how much less I know Tableau! But I am sure that with your help, I will soon become an expert! 👍
Dear sqlbelle, i love enoying your videos, but in web traffic worksheet how you have created visit date and you have used filter in this worksheet also, but you didnt mention from where you have created this filter and visit date, if you acknowledge about it, it will help me to understand better , lots of best wishes to you for your work.
Thank you Ravi. The parameters were created in a previous demo 12:05 - Date Range in Reference Line/Band ... Visit Date is a field that exists in the web traffic data source. For 21:38 - Filter unrelated data sources, the goal was to demonstrate that even if you have multiple unrelated data sources, you can filter them simultaneously with the help of parameters. Does this help?
A couple ways we can do this would be through actions or through sets (set actions). Yes I do plan to create some tutorials around these topics. Thank you for your suggestion and support!
Thanks Kiran. Would you be able to let me know which section it is? Filter actions are different from the "regular" filters; these actions are driven by interactivity, for example by a click, a hover or a menu. Happy to help clarify if I can.
Your channel is absolutely a gem!!! Thanks for clarifying the very details on this topic! just a quick question in the Moving avg I think another option to smoothen the line is to put in the path mark? Will it work in the situation of dual axis with dynamic parameter?
Thank you for your kind comment Phong! I am not 100% sure about putting the values in the path mark - the path should show the sequence, but the moving average is an actual value that needs to follow the time instead of another sequence. I haven't tried it this way, but would assume that if that's an alternative way, that would involve more steps and possibly more calculations.
Again, great video. Just don't switch screens so fast. 22:50 mark switches before I could see the results of the Within Date Range on the Orders table. BUT AGAIN. Great video as always.
Thank you Terry for your feedback. I'll definitely take that into account with my editing. I think I was getting conscious about the length of the video and I was trying to cut a lot of the spaces. Appreciate your suggestion!
You are one of the best teachers.. Your way of teaching is awesome.. I have seen these concepts and similar examples by others but did not understood the concept.. Now It is clear for me.. I am going to WATCH and LIKE all your vedios. Thank you @SQLBELLE
Thank you Abdul Khader 🙏🙂 for your very kind and generous comment! So happy to hear you found the video useful and that it helped in understanding the concept of parameters.
Hi Belle, great video! However, on 17:55 about TOTAL of AGG SUM. What if I have Fixed LOD on the SUM, I cannot use the total there. Do you have any advice on this?
Hello Joanna - I will be happy to consider this - would you be able to provide a bit more context as to what you're looking for, and who your audience is? Are you able to elaborate on your use case?
@sqlbelle Thank you for your response Ma'am.. My audience are the management.. Our company is a Restaurant Business with more than a hundred stores.. The management want to know what segments are more profitable.. Segments are Dine-in, Carryout, Delivery, Funzone, and others.. We allocate the expenses in diff methods.. 1.Some are specific to the segment 2.some are from the other datasource which have a computation of the standard food cost, 3.some are based on sales 4. Some are based on sales but some segment dont have an allocation at all.. Hope you can consider this.. thank you so much..
I am new for Tableau Application i really like your YOU TUBE channel hear i learning new ideas and topics. Those video's are very helpful for me to learn new skills in Tableau. I Really so Thanks to you Sqlbelle. And my request keep posting new updated
This is amazing! As I said previously. You have in depth knowledge about Tableau. Your Videos are very clear and easy to understand. Thank you so much for publishing this video.
This video is exactly what I needed to learn about parameters and calculated fields. I am trying to make interactive dashboards, I owe you one thousand thumbs up!
Thank you so much for this video. I was wondering if there is a way to create a date filter using parameters so my other charts on the dashboard doesn’t disappear. Currently, I Have 3 different charts (last 6 months, current month and last two months) however, when I select month filter the charts (last 2 and 6 months) disappear.
Thanks a lot for making and sharing the video. The content is great and cover a lot cases of use. I need to watch several times to digest and apply. Have much understanding of parameter of watching your video. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated.
Hi, thank you for the great video. Could you please make a tutorial for Top N behaviour with different filters especially color, year? Top N doesn't work properly
Hello mam..!! In use case 4.. sort stacked bar.. can u please explain how sorting in region works.. We are Sorting region with selected region sales in ascending, but there other region values lesser than the selected region. But how the selected region appears first..?
Islam memprioritaskan kehalalan kebenaran seperti keadilan dll. Kalau Alquran suci tidak berselisih seperti: Allohswt itu satu, di ayat lainnya juga satu kalau Allohswt dua, pasti bebenturan kekuasaan. Kalau selain Alquran, banyak yg berselisih kaco. Amin: Cucu2 rakyat makmur jangan hancur
Great tutorial! at 31:35, is there a clever way to dynamically change the formatting of the values of the scale for the rows e.g. $#M and then maybe a % when a different parameter is used.
Thanks Anthony. We can do these using calculated fields. One possibility is one calculated field formatted as string, the other alternative is multiple calculated fields - one to determine the precision / # of digits or decimal places .. the other to determine whether to have a $ symbol in front, and another one to determine any symbols following the number.
I have Year which I want to add as a parameter my field type is an integer. Please let me know how to solve it. That parameter will show me the count of 2 different nations (column name). When I select year I want to get the count from another column "A" (that has a count for those 2 nations) for the specific year. If needed I can share my dataset for more clarity.
relate to all the praising comments! did "pause and rewind" quite a few times to make sure content gets into my head solidly and stay there for long :) kept attention through out the entire video from start to end, really cool! thank you!
Parameters in Tableau are the my favorite... I was waiting for a video on parameter and here it is... an extensive video on Parameters. Anyone who watches this will never forget the concept behind parameters in Tableau... Thanks to you...
Hi! Firstly thanks for explaining all topics in the easiest and detailed way. I wonder how can i find this dataset for practice ? Could you please help me
As always, something for everyone here. Just when I thought I knew this cold, you show me something new. Thanks and I am looking forward to your next tutorial.
In the chosen chart practice, I selected line and the rest disappeared but the size of line chart remains the same without expanding , can anyone tell me how to fix it?
Thank you for another awesome Video !!! I recall reading that case statements are faster than If statements thus if performance is what someone is looking for, Case is the go to statement :)
Hi Yatish - thank you for your kind note. I am not 100% sure about the IF or CASE - I would say it depends. Some of these may depend on the data source. For example if connecting to relational databases, it depends on how the query engine interprets the incoming query and how it will evaluate it. I don't think it's cut and dry.
Hi sqlbelle. The datasets that you used for the video is there a way to download them so that you can follow the video and do the steps at the same time.
