I quit tablet reviews before covering what I actually use as a full-time artist: a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD Touch for five years and the Cintiq 24 Pro for about a year. I ditched the review format for an honest, slightly humorous talk about Cintiq ownership and screen tablets in general.
That crazy Cintiq Pro fan was enough to make me almost switch back to the 27QHD. The fan fix made a huge difference and I'm happy now.
There are several features of Wacom tablets and how their software works that make it worth the investment for me. If $ is a problem there are other types of Wacom tablets competitively priced; this video is not about how to save you money, it's about some of the best tools on the market. When you're considering a Cintiq you're likely a full time artist. I can say, yes, end of 2020 there is still a definite physical quality and good customer support difference between Wacom versus its rising star competitors.
I paid for the 27QHD with my own blood, sweat, and tears. I marked the video as paid promo because of the 24" Cintiq I received pro bono. I was not asked to make a review; I did so because talking about long-term Cintiq ownership outside of livestreams is something I meant to cover long before companies started asking me to review their products.
I'm glad I quit reviews. Tech reviews were sucking away lots of animating hours.

• Screen Protectors (Do you need one? Some would argue the light surface scratches are fine - I don't feel them and have to look close to see them - so I'll keep drawing without a protector and see what happens. The 27QHD surface held up better.)

⭐️ Reasons I Prefer Cintiqs ⭐️
The expresskey remote. On the same remote the same button has a different shortcut if I'm using Toon Boom than when I am using Photoshop. Wacom's custom button programming is unrivaled.
Quality. The quality of materials is better than what cheaper brands use.
Screen Colors. Some other brands I've used had great screen colors as well.
Compatibility. I've never used an art program Wacom didn't understand. Compatibility was an issue for some other brands.
Longevity. I haven't tried using a cheap tablet for any length of time so I can't say from experience how well other brands would hold up. I'd love to hear from any 5-year owners of other brands, good or bad ownership stories!
Customer Support. Personally I've had really great customer support experiences with Wacom. I had little contact with other brands' customer support but their English was overall much weaker.

Unlike a true review? This IS a true review. Or at least what one should be, instead of the video equivalent of magazine "reviews." Granted you don't go into as much detail about certain things, but by and large this type of video is so important.

A very good review from an Actual pro- like me ! I have been using my 27 inch HD for years with absolutely no problem . But I was toying with the idea of going for the 32 inch monster . ( greed? Maybe ). So I’m glad to hear some who has actually works with them to get a comparison . Actually I have doubts if the extra 5 inches diagonally would make much of a difference. It’s also the higher pen pressure resolution that is an attraction. But in my experience the higher res/ pen pressure seems to be too much when I work on my 16 inch cintiq pro- Thanks for the video you made

Bought a Cintiq Pro 24 for over $400 from a recycling company, it's almost in excellent condition (some small dents on the plastic casing at the bottom) the screen is flawless, no dead pixel, no color distortion, NO Scratches nor cracks. Besides missing some parts (that can be easily replaced) everything is perfect. The flex arm is the most expensive part that I got from Amazon separately. Aside from that, this tablet is amazing (the fans are also super quiet), it is unbelievable that I found it on a cheaper price range, most used models would've been sold for $1500! I've just gotten a steal of a century! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Most honest feeling review I've found yet! I'd don't trust any review that avoids saying anything bad about the product! I'm glad to know that the 24 Pro is loud too, I don't know if anyone else would have mentioned it. I would love to know if you thought the flex arm was wiggly when you lean on it and if so, does it bother you?

Thank you for posting this. I have the 27QHD and found it better to take the wee receiver out of the cintiq and plug it into one of my front USB ports. Stops a lot of weirdness except the low battery message.

Thank you. The blue hue when starting up is a factor on mine as well as some concerning flicker, but drivers aside, the QHD has been a work horse.

Funnily enough I have non of the same issues you have with the 27QHD ... although I got the touchless version. And yes: I get battery warnings for the remote all the time, even when its charging.

I also have a 24 pro. It really is the best size! My remote magnets much better on the RIGHT side too, but I do not use it as much as I should. My only complaint is that the only way to get the 4k display was to use the USB c video connection... and that wire is too short... especially if using the Ergo stand that eats up half the length! What screen protector would you suggest?? I am heavy handed with drawing and prob use my pen nibs for far longer than they should be used :x

I wish that fan control speed update was also available for the Mobilestudio line of tablets. Mine always sounds like a jet engine about to take off!

I also have the 27QHD. I've had several Wacom devices over the years and I've never bought one with touch. I do so much better with tactile controls. The EK Remote is really good.

I once bought a new EK Remote because one of the buttons began to stick on the original. I found that the backing on the new one would not stick well to the screen. I ended up taking the back off the old one and using it on the new one and that solved the problem.

I strongly considered getting the 24 Pro, but I have to move around the country yearly where I may need my computer desk to double up as a dining table. The Cintiq 16 Pro is a wonderful size for portability and screen-space, it some-what suffers from the jet engine fan noise but is easily ignorable over my regular pc fans. My biggest gripe with the 16 Pro is that Wacom were greedy idiots and did not include vesa mounts for either the 13 or 16 pro models (yet the cheaper Cintiq 16 has vesa?!!), so I can't attach my screen to an arm and have had to make do with a monitor riser or make my own as Wacom have confirmed that they're never going to make an adaptor after promising customers for years. Sides of the monitor aren't wide enough for the express keys remote. It's still a great tablet for my needs and there's things like non-vesa adapters and DIY mounts to get around that one issue. No screen-protector as I clean the screen with a moist cloth and replace the nibs when worn. Also recommend getting an angled USB magnet connector because you don't want to damage the usb ports!

Hey, so I am deciding between a ipad pro 5th gen with M1 chip and apple pencil 2 or a wacom cintiq pro 24. I mainly want to re-write my university/highschool lecture notes into adobe PDF using adobe illustrator. I am going to be using it to draw alot of illustrations, graphs, writing and mathematical formulas. I do not care about extras such as shortcut keys, ergonomics companies throw at you. I just want the device with the cleanest, highly responsive, lowest latency pen strokes. Thank you

I feel you ,.Im coming from a cintiq companion 2 I hate its idiotic touch meh. .. as an freelance artist I want to upgrade to something bigger .. and there’s thing I want to ask u if u are so kind to throw me some light about it .. the 24pro screen and the pro pen 2 And their nibs .. are they wear quickly /very fast ? In some forums i read pe0ple complaining about it .. And did you feel the big jump in pen pressure ? I mean coming from cintiq 27 pro pen 1 to pro pen 2 (2048 vs 8thousands ).. Im trying to decide which way to go ..if 27 or 24 pro .

Hey crowne prince, good news. 2 Wacom express key remotes could work at the same time with different settings all you have to do is change the name of the remote (Link attached). I got a new Cintiq 24 pro which comes with a remote and 1 I had previously I changed the name and it works:)

I would love to work for you & learn. I've at an age of 29 decided to change my life focus around and starting from scratch with a new profession, being an artist & digital designer, because this is something I truly have a passion for, but never felt like I had the time and I definitely can't draw, but now I'm practicing everyday and will learn & improve constantly.

Don't. As someone who has had an xp pen for a while, they have very bad issues with the cord and the port. It becomes unusable if you dont position the cord very specifically, and even then after a while it will turn off. Ive done a lot of research and this is an issue all users seem to have no matter what version of the tablet. It is not worth it.

Hey, I have a question for you...I am a motion graphics artist and also an express key remote fan. I am running out of shortcut keys and wanna purchase another one. Could you please tell me if 2 remote works at the same time with different keyboard shortcuts for each remote. I use after effects as a primary tool. So I need both to work with different shortcuts on both of them.

Short answer: no. Using multiple remotes doesn't work the way you want it to. If you need more buttons there are other remote-like tools you can get. I haven't tried them. If you're familiar with computers you can even map a wireless video game controller to act like a Wacom Expresskey remote using JoyToKey. joytokey.net/en/

Even though it's an older model some suppliers might still have some in stock. Amazon has a lot of the smaller tablets; for the bigger ones like 27QHD I had to buy from an electronics supplier because direct from Wacom was sold out at the time. Search "buy cintiq 27qhd" on google.

My old wacom bamboo * a classic of the time I started art * Lasted almost 8-9 years before the wiring went janky . Got a Wacom Intuos Pro M since I dont think my eyes can tolerate a second screen , but I love it . Wacom will always get my money when I need a new tablet , cuse DAYUM they last forever for a niche electronic .

Meanwhile I've had an off-brand huion-adjacent non-screen tablet since 2010 and I am DESPERATE to replace it, but I can't find any tablets for sale anywhere in my city anymore (and buying it online right now is... complicated) so for now my decrepit Ol' Reliable will have to hang on for a while still.

Interesting huh. I wonder why I never had any issues with my Cintiq 27qhd and drivers. I never update wacom drivers. Heck, if windows wouldn’t turn on auto update by itself every time I turn it off (yesss, creepy) then I wouldn’t even update windows ever. Liking the size difference. Hoping my cintiq lasts me many more years since I love the goldilocks zone resolution of 1440p. But I wouldn’t mind switching to the 24 once thst happens (knocks in wood)

I don't think it's possible to actually scratch the cintiq screen with normal use. I too found a very very fine and shallow scratch on mine after months of very very light use, and that puzzled me. So I went all in and tried to scratch the screen with a screwdriver!!! on purpose in a corner I don't draw on, and it just glid off, no damage whatsoever. Thus, I think that these screatches might be coming from the factory or something.

To be completely honest, I think the only reason to invest in Wacom at this point is that they're consistent in quality and the drivers are at least guaranteed to function without too much fiddling. While it would be convenient to have a tablet that doesn't have a 20% chance of scrambling my main monitor upon power up, I don't think it's... (checks website) 300% markup worth of convenient. Though that Wacom One looks like a good upgrade path when my XP-Pen Artist 10s finally decides to die completely. (btw, to anyone that owns one, the horrific parallax can be fixed by taking a hobby knife to the plastic space behind the bezel. The front panel is regular glass, so there's nowhere near enough flex to justify a whole 3mm gap. Just keep in mind that the front glass is glued in place, so don't even bother trying to remove it.)

For fan haters: Get noise cancelling headphones. I only use noise cancelling headphones while playing on a gaming laptop which is insanely loud but completely quiet one I put the headphones on

I bought a used 27qhd non touch and I feel so small with this huge monster on my desk...lol but with a 3D connexion pen and remote Im on cloud nine...The 24" fan would bother the heck out of me...since I love to work when everyone is asleep....I'm glad my 27" is still good for industry...I'm also using iPad pro and ipad mini when traveling. But when I power up my Mac desktop and cintiq I feel like Im about to blast off into space lol Star Trek...

Whoever is talking about the fans is lying to you. The fans has a low speed mode that makes the noise SO QUIET and isn’t a problem

@@dallenartandanimation4946 The low speed mode only changes the fan curve slightly and doesn't affect the maximum rotation speed in any way. My Cintiq Pro 24 had super noisy fans (it has 4 fans inside) always when the room temperature reached about +24 degrees Celsius. My ambient room noise levels are whisper quiet and my PC is totally silent so the jet engines inside the Cintiq pro 24 sounded horrible until I gave it the knife and silenced it for good. Well actually I disabled only two of the fans and now the noise is 90% lower and it's tolerable but still not totally quiet.
