I couldn't agree with you more! I've been looking for a 27qhd to replace my 22hd touch and was so excited when they released this. Until I saw the specs and the price. It's not enough of an upgrade to justify the price, especially since it costs more than the 32 pro did. None of it makes sense.
The other odd thing is at that price, it should have the best panel ever made. It might have to do with sacrifices they needed to make for that Pantone certification. The brightness though?
Agreed. I imagine the design choice was made to save desk real estate but in practice, made them change everything else. It would have been great to get a refresh of the Expresskey remote. Maybe even with LED like the old Intuos 4.
I can maybe understand if they thought back in 2017 when it was probably in the design phase. Maybe they thought not everything has Bluetooth. I actually got a tourbox which is Bluetooth. I should have a review up soon.
Man, I am so glad you made this video! I have the 24 Pro and have been going back and forth looking at "upgrading" to the 27 Pro, but in the end it seems they put form over function. Being able to rest your forearm or wrist without being over the screen is a small, but important feature. Also, the 120hZ is the main upgrade feature, but if you don't game it's a hard sell to pay almost 2x the amount with the stand! It would be one thing if the price was even close, but it's almost like they took a step back by being too concerned with competing with the look and size of other drawing tablets. I sure hope they don't make these same decisions on upcoming changes with the 24 pro! If they kept the 24 design and added 120hZ with the pro pen 3, charged $300 to even $500 more, they would have knocked it out of the park in my opinion.
I agree although if the pro pen 3 becomes backwards compatible, it’s literally the color and 120hz. I think the 27” at that point becomes negligible because your arm is covering it.
Right, in reality it means you can really use the entire 27” space. I still don’t get it. It’s like the engineers aren’t even artists. Let’s reduce the express keys to 4, and make it so you have to reach around the device to use them.
I did not but I am in touch with quite a few people who own it. The drawing experience is great, maybe slightly better than the current pro line. The 120hz isn’t as world changing as they hoped. In other words, I think they thought it would feel as fluid as an iPad. That isn’t a negative for me since I don’t expect emr to ever be like that. The one negative seems to be fan noise. Supposedly they are on all the time give it take and the driver does not have the option to put them low. Like I mentioned, the color stuff is the best you’ll find so if Pantone certification means anything to you, it’s your only option.
@@CreateNowSleepLater Hey brother, thanks for that information I just saw your message just now. Yes, I keep hearing the colors have improved a bit, especially if your into printing to get the right Pantones downs... but just like you mentioned, there's not much of a different beside the slimming down of the tablet a bit. I still think the gesture controlare still trash, nothing close to the iPad but who's perfect, right. I wish the gesture control can be improve as a software update on my cintiq pro 32. I'm looking forward to the future of this tool and also to the match apple monitors quality, maybe a 5k or 6k, unless Apple can improvement first on its pen pressure....oh we'll see what the future holds.
@@McCloud23892 I have my eye on the xencelabs new 24" too. It has all the color upgrades in a 24" model. Those guys are not messing around. On the pen, I just think we've reached a point where it can't get much better. I'm guessing Wacom will update the current 24 at some point. I'll see what thats about but I dont think its enough to get my to upgrade from my pro 24.
Just got a pro 24 for $840. Its in mint c9ndition and couldnt be happier, i hated the massive bezzle at forst but in practoce i really like it! Lets me rest my hand while still being able to draw
Good to have it. If pro 24 has a space to dock a MacBook or other laptop behind instead of buying their own Cintiq engine to make the screen all in one computer. Then, that will be amazing!
I like big bezels and I cannot lie.. ;) Haven't used my express key remote, at all.. couldn't get it to work intitially (like, within seconds), so now it's just collecting dust under my wacom =P
I love mine. I used a Logitech G13 gaming KB but I didn't love it. The thing that help alot is when you have all your on-screen panels setup. It's essentially endless. Like on my radial menu I have all the transform tools, liquify, mesh, etc. I still have undo/redo on it too so I dont really need to move my hand off the remote much.
I upgraded from the 24 pro to the 27 pro and the only downside with the bezels being smaller is adjusting layers or whatever is in the bottom right of the screen. I really notice having nowhere to rest my hand for that. But for everything else - the bezels are not missed.
@@CreateNowSleepLater I totally get the bezel people but I'm in the same as Darc - I could get a 27" for the same space as a 24! I wonder if the new 24 will follow suit?
I was on the fence between wacom or Xencelab/huion/xpen, after your review I'm pretty sure Xencelab 24 display is the right buy for me. I really wanted those 27in and a touchscreen (I pain with krita and touch is part of my workflow) but I think you made it clear to me that Xencelab display is the right purchase for me.
I'm trying to get a Xencelabs to review but they are backed up. Hopefully eventually I'll get one. The touch is still exclusive to Wacom at that size. What are you using now?
I totally get it. The prices are mental and the performance to cost ratio between Wacom and the competition just doesn’t justify it. I also think they have taken a step back engineering wise. The Pro’s seem to have a lot of complaints about fan noise. I think Wacom needs to get back to basics.
nice, just right in time, when i was thinking either 24 pro or this new 27 one :) but daang, the price for 27 its just nuts. I think I will pickup the 24 one.
I love the Pro 24. I did a full review on it but the review is a little long in the tooth. One thing about the fan noise, the back panel of the Pro 24 I left off. Plus I have it on an arm so it is well ventilated. I like being able to get to the cables and the VESA mount thing from Wacom prevents removing that back panel so I just left it off.
@@CreateNowSleepLater I think you have a lucky one! I had two, the first was pretty loud, with a high pitched whine, the 2nd was much quieter (though not silent). I think they either used different fans during production or there's something different with the temperature sensors. Either way if you've got a quiet one you've done well!
Going from the pro 24 to the pro 27, I can honestly say I don’t miss the large bezels. As for the fans, they are audible, but not really distracting(I also sometimes have headphones on). Of course, this will very to the individual and whether any fan sound is acceptable. They also run much lower in power save mode, so it’s possible they may release a firmware update to control the fans(like they did for the pro 24). As for the price, I am using the pro 27 to replace the pro 24($2000) and the BenQ pd3200u($1200) which was highly color accurate. Including the higher refresh rate, the cost itself isn’t too hard to understand-though an included stand would’ve been nice(I ended up using my flex arm with the 27 adapter).
Nice, thats great feedback. For me personally, its not so much the noise as much as my mic would pick it up. How would you say the drawing experience is compared to the Pro 24? In terms of the bezels, are you primarily using keyboard shortcuts?
@@CreateNowSleepLater for the drawing experience, I definitely notice it compared to the 24. It’s more a nice improvement rather than a complete upgrade in terms of feel. I do rely most;y on keyboard shortcuts, but the touch function allows me to use gestures and on screen controls with modifiers. So far, I’ve enjoyed the touch function and find it works very well(some initial reviews had me concerned). Regarding the fan and mics, that’s a valid concern. I guess it would depend on where the mic is placed.
@The Chingas De Mingus how does it hold up now? Are the touch function functional? Also how is the screen display vs the 24 inch? Does it look better or about the same
@@Jaugarez I'm not that fella but from my brief use of it I'd say it did look better. Very bright and I didn't notice any sparklies like on the Pro 24 screen. There's also a partial touch mode, which seems like a good idea.
I bought my pro 24 three years ago, and honestly? I kinda feel like it's going to be my definitive tablet for at least the next 10 or so years. Unless it brokes or something over the top happens, I highly doubt i will change this beast anytime soon.
@@CreateNowSleepLater I think we are at the point of incremental improvements now. We're not going to see big jumps between generations or something that's appreciably better than the Pro 24 (especially if you like the bezels!). These companies are now at the point of shaving little bits off lag, parallax, refresh rate etc but its getting into marginal gains territory. The 27 pro, with 120hz, pro pen 3 etc. adds up to a very nice experience and it is nicer to draw on but it's not a huge difference over the previous generation IMO
Bezel reduction is such an odd decision, this is a tool for creating stuff and having that extra space for your hand to rest on when near the edge is golden as it prevents hand cramps. Wacom has reduced them on their newest models the Cintiq Pro 2023 and Movink, really hoping they don't do the same on the new Intuos Pro line that might come soon. Whole device is overspec with an insane price tag, I assume Wacom is going this way of trying to please so hard the most demanding artists and studios out there if you consider that other companies are starting to step-up with premium tablet models.
I guess. I don’t see many of these new Cintiqs out there in the wild in any of the artists I follow. I see a lot of them migrating to iPads, Huion and other brands. Either way, I just don’t like the design choices they made.
I think that the previous models are of better design. Much more streamlined and ergonomic. This would have been the design before the 24, 32 ,27 of the last models.
Yep, I cant imagine myself using those express keys. I practiced with my Pro 24 which is around the same dimensions and I would have been hunched over the thing. If you dont have long arms, I just dont see it.
@@CreateNowSleepLater Yeah I agree. it seems like they made it so you have to go out of your way to use the functions it has and on top of that they stripped down most of them.
Hard to say. Some of us who are older tend to draw with our arm, not our wrist. Sone would say you can never have enough space either. If you feel confined, then go bigger. You have other options in the 16 and 24” space as well.
I don’t. Supposedly the new pen is a bit more accurate but I wouldn’t expect a world changing difference if you already have a pro 24”. I think the draw of this one is size and the color certification.
Can the pro pen 3 nibs fit into the pro pen 2? I know tips is longer on the new one but is the insert part still the same length and diameter ? I want a longer nibs on my pro pen 2
Something went wrong here. During the demo, they did a terrible job with a looping video through the entire thing. The design engineer talked about. I kept thinking, is this guy even an artist? How did he expect to get to those express keys on a 27" device? They obviously wanted a slimmer look to compete with everyone else. That decision impacted every other one.
I just bought a cintiq 32, one of the last brand new models. I bought it because I know the next 32 inch is going to be way too much if this model is already 3500 usd.
I think they have lost their way. I don't know who they are making these devices for. Design choices are silly and this entire new line is so expensive. I can't imagine why anyone would pay these prices with so many other choices out there.
I have been using the simple Intuos all my life, with different 4K monitors, or laptops, it is cheaper and better in my experience so far, I prefer to use a control like the switch console, with the Joytokey program, to make shortcuts, I highly recommend trying it, as a better alternative for hardware, I love wacom for its intuos tablets, But I think the intuos is so perfect that buying these things is unnecessary, although they are clearly beautiful.
I had a few intuos. I still review traditional pen tablets so I agree with you. I did a super old video using xpadder with an xbos controller similar to what you are doing now. I admit, I use the expresskey remote now. Its just easier with the Wacom drivers and the ability to call up all the onscreen menus.
Your comment is exactly the picture of my own experience... I own an Intuos Pro Large paper edition... Well, apart from the paper edition really terrible the overall experience of Intuos Is so great in terms of Posture, portability that when I look at all these beautiful Cintiq or even Huion Pro 4k I get caught inside the temptation until I ask myself if I really need it... And the honest answer is no... 😅
Which part are you referring to? The expresskey remote takes two usb connection unless you charge it off something else. I use the SD card reader to transfer files between my main PC and laptop. Is that what you mean?
