In my opinion, this is a bad mistake from the US. Israel is only going to be more brazen in their attacks against Lebanon and Iran, since they will be less likely to suffer from the consequences of their aggression, thanks to this missile defensive system.

The US protecting Israel is the US protecting itself. Israel gives the US valuable information about any potential terrorist attacks on the US. Keeping Israel alive and safe keeps the US’s first line of defense intact.
