I played Heroes 3 first and I have to say, this game is beautiful, the art and sound is timeless. I appreciate this is a sort of HD mod type situation but I'm blown away, genuinely. I think I prefer this art direction over 3.

It looks even better if you actually integer upscale it (possible with fheroes2) as all the art is pixel art.

The titans are a case in point. In Heroes 3, they just look like thin men or golems with a helmet on. In Heroes 2, they look like mighty TITANS: tall, stern, imposing, and deadly. And when they die, it's a mighty demolition.

I played this as a kid when it came out, really started my love for the series and is fantastic to see videos on it! Truly a classic and though not as great as HoMM 3 it definitely should be seen more.

This can currently only be done in the source code which then has to be compiled. Easily modifying this is part of the project's roadmap.

I just noticed (again)… Norovo is using the MIDI music instead of the CD music. I forget what someone told me before, but is this a preference, something to do with copyright claims, or did he just never install one CD soundtrack or another?

It's a combination of assuming the MIDI is safer from copyright issues and assuming it's less distracting than the opera music. But I don't feel that strongly about it, so might try CD music in another series

I think it's based on chance. So you can lose your hero if you're unlucky

If at all you still have The Conquerors Expansion 1.0C With UserPatch 1.4 (or any higher version), I invite you to play the latest scenario I released in AOK Heaven Blacksmith. It is named John Mendl 3. Into Swabia. (Not necesary to play John Mendl 1 and John Mendl 2 - they are available in Blacksmith since long ago if needed). John Mendl 3. Into Swabia has been designed with utmost quality of effort. It is a patiently planned, action-packed quest-filled adventure on a Large 8 Player Map. AoKH Blacksmith has a page for this scenario where description is given on what this scenario is about. There is a README in AoKH to guide with installation as it uses DAT Editing.

In HoMM3 Nomads have a Special Ability: Sandwalker Nomads' sandwalker special ability causes hero to ignore terrain penalty on sand. This ability applies if the hero has at least one nomad in his army. Can also be true for HoMM2
