Brooke, there isn't anything you can't do! I think the valance was a wise decision! I think the longer panels would have been just too much for the kitties to resist 😂
Brooke, it is lovely! Yes, by all means, when kitties move out of milk room, do a bottom matching curtain that is a little longer--the typical cafe curtain look with the peek through space between top valance and bottom curtain! Whatever you do, enjoy! I went with a multi -color floral in a cream background curtains for my bird room since the walls were cream too. It looks great. It was more for me than the bird as to color choice (I think she likes it, but who knows?!). I was thinking you could also do multi color since the license plates are multiple colors. But if red is your jam, go with it!
Brooke !!! You can do Anything that you set your mind to !!!! The Valance is Beautiful!!! The more that you use that sewing machine the more comfortable you'll get . It looks Awesome !! 👍 We in my part of S.C. got rain all day yesterday too . Much needed ,I may say ...Yall enjoy your Sunday !!! 😊
Nice, very nice choice with the room. It does look country and western. Great to see Didi, Tucker.. The three barn bosses! Lol, Sylvester's mew and ladder climb.
Good idea with the curtain. Yep our cats got a thing for climbing them when they get in there spasy. How adorable that little kitty cry. Hahaha. You made them great to. Just gotta let the machine do the work and cost it threw. Im excited for ya. Our cat loves the ladders to.😂😂
Brooke, you need to take pictures of the Nanny's that you milk and start putting them on the vacant walls. That way you have a history wall for your new barn.
Brooke, you did a great job with the curtain, it makes the room look so comfy and cozy. It strikes me funny that your nervous about making the curtains but your not nervous about driving a tractor, building an aviary, building the milk room, giving injections to the animals, help with building a fence, etc. etc, etc. It would be too long of a comment to list everything you do and I'm amazed at all you do. 🥰
Very nice job Brooke! I have been sewing for 41 years and it tickled me at how excited you were with what you accomplished. You took your time and made a beautiful valance. Well done. 💜🐾
I don't think it's a boring brown at all. Perfect mix of browns and the curtains are so cute. And I love all your kitties, including Pink💓and Tucker ❤️so much!
Great job Brooke! I am not much of a seamstress so I really appreciate you tackling this one! I just love Deedee and her sweet white muzzle! She just radiates happiness!✌🏻🫶🏻
I'm so glad you're having fun accessorizing your milkroom, Brooke! I understand how hard it is sometimes getting started on a project. But you forged ahead, and the results are awesome, and so are you! Thanks for bringing us along. 😁😉🤗
When cats are indoors, they love to look out of the window.❤🐈⬛❤You might too, while milking goats!🐐 Great job on the valance! If you don't use the fabric to cover the bottom, you can make another valance panel to make it more richly gathered.❤
Great job Brooke! It really does brighten the milking parlor up. Good call on holding off on the actual curtain because of the kitties. that's their, "Window on the World." They would, likely, tear the curtain to shreds trying to see out the window. I love the idea of the "Cafe' Curtain".
I LOVE the happy in your voice, you DID do a great job Brooke. You also picked out the PERFECT material. Really cute, keep challenging yourself that room is so cute!! 🥰
Great job on the valance, Brooke! And I think it's a good decision to just have a valance up. It won't block the cat's view and the cats won't be tempted to shred the material.
Good job, Brooke! 👏 I always enjoy seeing you and DeeDee and the kitties embarking on a project . You are such a happy family! And even though its a gloomy day, we need the rain, and your positive personality makes it sunny 🌞🌞🌞😎❤
Love your indoor project this morning! The milk room gets more cozy each time I see it. The fabric is perfect and the cats seem to love it. With Jason supervising, you are a master seamstress.
I really love your excitement at making a small curtain lol. I was brought up on crafting and so it is all easy to me, but I get that it is a major achievement for you and it is lovely to see your pride. Well done Brooke. You are always an inspiration to everyone. xxx
A tension rod might be easiest when you are ready to put a bottom set of curtains. Your valance looks just fine. I see some very pretty colors popping because of the red fabric. So great! Love seeing Ms Dee Dee supporting her Momma.
Hi Brooke. So happy you took this project on. The red bandana fabic was a great choice! I agree if you hung tiers at the lower part, I think kittens would have destroyed them eventually! Brooke, regarding your curtains at the counter, I really believe you will be happier with a rod than velco. There are rods made for that! With rod, you can just slide the curtains to side when you want something. With velco, it gets more complicated. And I think it would wear on fabric more. Also, if you want more gathering, you may want to double at least what the actual measurement is. You did a great job!! Brooke, sorry I know Im going on and on. But a thought came to me...depending on measurements, you may be able to hang cabinet curtain with a tension rod. Happy sewing!!
Brook the more you sew the more confident you’ll get. Rule of thumb on curtains is double the width of the window to get the perfect gather. Great job!
This has nothing to do with your video and for that I'm sorry. DOSS FARM (HOMESTEAD) FORMERLY ADLER FARMS LOST THEIR HOME LAST WEEK! HAD A BIG FIRE. THEY ARE ASKING NOT TO SEND MONEY. THEY COULD PROBABLY USE SUPPORT AND HANDS WHEN IT COMES TIME TO REBUILD. THE KIDS AND THEM ARE OK. JUST MAYBE SHOW EM SOME LOVE FOLKS. I just found out today. My heart hurts for them. Idk them and they don't know me...but my heart hurts for them none the less. I absolutely love the fabric choice and the color. It looks fantastic and no one would ever be able to tell that you're not a a sewing kind of gal. Again, I am sorry for thrusting this into your comment section. I just felt like the homestead Community might want to know and reach out to offer their moral support. Again, they are asking that nobody send any money
It's good. For the future, double your window width to measure your fabric. That will make them more billowy. Maybe 1 1/2 times for the counter curtain that you're hanging with velcro. I love how you say "Va-Lance" ...in Ohio we say "VAL-ance"
Brooke you are amazing, you can do anything. I knew you could do it, you have accomplished a lot of projects on the farm. Love the valance and fabric. Great job!
It’s SO PURDY!!! For the skirt you might want to double the width for a nice fullness. It just brightens things up. A few vintage looking large milking signs would break up the brown walls and give interest.
😂 I love the way you say. " Valance". You say..Va..lance. We say Val...ance. I live in Ohio and have never heard it pronounced that way. That really does make a difference! I have sewed all my life. The rule of thumb for ruffles/ gathers is 3 times the width. 🥰.. OXOXO to you and all your family and animals ❣️
The Valance looks so cute on the window! Later on when the cats can go outside, maybe they won't be in the Milk Room so much! That way you won't have so much hair flying around when you're milking the Goats! Sure don't want that! When you move the cats into the Barn, you could put your other little curtain up and if will look even better! I love your Milk Room! Its Beautiful... You could take 8X10 pictures of each Milking Goat you have, Frame then and hang then on your Wall also to Decorate the Room! Put a Red mat around each picture to match the curtains to brighten up your room also. I want wait till ya'll start cleaning the Barn and doing stuff so As can watch ya'll... Wish I was closer, I'd come and help ya'll do all the Farm Work! What Fun that would be! When is Jason going to plant the Fall Garden or Did he give up on it? Its to late now, Right? You did great Brooke! I knew you could! Much Love. God Bless. 🙏🙏❤❤👏👏
Very CUTE!!! You could also put a valance on the inside of the door window to add another small splash of color, as well as bringing some balance to the room. I have to admit...I am extremely jealous of your milk room! Lol 🥰😘
Nice curtains! Slowly learning can be an experience. I did my own for my kitchen many years ago. Hobby Lobby has a very nice material of farm animals. That also would look nice. 😊
Good morning Brooke, DIY you can do it determination. If you want to add drapes, you can buy large hooks that you can mount on each side of the window frame, the drape of curtains can drape each side of the window. So you can have the colour for the full length and leave the centre of the window light still shining through. Good Job. 😀👍👍👍
The fabric is perfect. When you get ready to add the bottom section, measure from the mid-point down and make cafe curtains. It is a classic country look. Love you guys.
Those are so cute! I wish I could sew, maybe someday Ill learn. Your milk room is so cute and special with the lights, door and curtains! Great job Brooke! thanks for sharing your life with us
If I can do it, so can you. I sewed a valence as well. It didn't matter if I went a little crooked because the fabric gets scrunched up at the top. I used a bedsheet, so the bottom of the curtain was the top of the sheet and therefore already hemmed😊
I love the curtains! Are you doing the other curtains in the same fabric? I think that would be the perfect amount of "pop" for the milk room. This was another great video Brooke! Thanks for all you share with us. ❤❤
Brooke you could always get accidental paint from the paint stores and create a wash by adding water to tone down the colors. Experiment & have fun using your favorite shades of purple, red, yellow, blue, gree, pink, orange etc. It would really liven up the milkroom & make it a happy place to be especially in fall & winter. It's really creative & would add a bit of "sunshine" even on a rainy day!
I agree with you Brooke! When I saw the kitties with you near the window, and remembered how much fun they had with your shower curtain, I wondered how that was going to work out. You had the; hopefully; perfect solution. I bet it works well! 👍😉🥇🙃
Well done, you, Brooke. You could put a matching valance mounted to the top of the door’s window to bring a little color over to that corner (now that you’re a professional seamstress!)
Thank goodness for any rain !!! You’ve given me the get up and go to tackle a project of my own today. Thank you Brooke. By the way love the color 😍 red is my favorite. Y’all be good ❤
Nicely done Brooke!!! I was thinking valance the whole time you were measuring the window! No need to do full curtains later because once you get the same fabric skirt around the bottom of the sink area, it will be all the color pop y’all need in the Milking room. ❤ Love all your projects ❤
What a uplifting video and good job. The curtains look great. This summer I refinished my computer desk. Have wanted to that for years but was afraid to do it because it was laminated. I have refinished lots of furniture but never anything laminated. Well one day I just said I was going to do it and it turned out great! I am so happy.
Great video…your creativity will make this room so inviting! I have curtains in my house on all the windows…and I leave them half open…my kitty doesn’t bother them at all. On one window she uses the curtain as a “cover” while she spies on all the critters outside :) ❤
Hi 👋 would you consider whitewashing all the pallet wood. It would brighten up the room and act as a washable surface for added sanitary purposes when you do start milking ❤😊
🤠 Great job with the curtain. BTW, this video shows not only the need to try new things, but also, take the time to do it right. Speed will come with experience.
I agree with your decision to just do the valance for now and you did a perfect job, not just sewing, but picking out the fabric as well! It looks great.
