Cammy and Lizzy, you are totally inspiring! You bring joy to a lot of people, and set such a good example of dedication and hard work, along with beautiful teamwork and an amazing sense of humor 😊. Thank you for sharing your time with us.❤
I love Lizzy's wit! She is hilarious. Awww Miss Bonnie what happened? That little lip quiver and tears had me melting. I wanted to reach through the screen and comfort her. I cringed for you when the bottle squirted over.
@@TheSheepGame Well, the term is exactly what it sounded like to me. I've just never seen it, never heard anyone mention it, and didn't know it was a thing. But I'm glad to know now. I greatly appreciate the education!
What is your cross grazing regime? How often do you put cattle through the paddocks to help reduce the worm burden? One of the first things my grandmother ever taught me as a child, was when farming, you have to cross graze all species. The way she explained it, is that nature designed animals not to chose to eat grass growing out of their own manure. This is true. A cow will happily eat grass growing from sheep or horse poop, but not its own. A horse will never touch grass from horse poop, but will always eat grass from cow or sheep poop. Nature is wonderful, she would say, that is how it breaks the worm cycle in each species. The cows eat the horse worm eggs from the longer grass,, which pass through them and the horses eat the cattle worm eggs which do not lodge either and pass through. Same with sheep. One thing she did say was to avoid cross grazing horses and sheep, since both were short grazers and harder on pasture. Let the grass come away longer, let the cattle eat the roughage, then horses or sheep follow. Not sure if any of this helps, but it has stood me in good stead over the years here in NZ. Often the old way of mixed farming and mixed pasture was kinder on stock and the environs, less invasive, less drench resistance.
I watched post mortem video. I didn't like it but learnt so much.. Glad you made it.. Oh and one last thing..Bonnie.. Couldn't find a name that suits her more. Totally adorable
Send that rain across the pond! We're in a drought here! Even wee Bonnie is sad to see it rain there! Poor lambies, but sooooo glad to see Meg again!!!
Good on Billy for replacing the lamb. Agree fully with you regarding xl bully, that the issue is the dog, but the true blame is on breeders who originally/continue to select for successful fighting traits. And the eventuality of ill-informed owners trusting the dog. The breed has been genetically selected for killing drive, strength and ability to endure pain; to be successful "fighting". They are genetically programmed once they attack to continue until the opponent is dead. If a dog didn't fight successfully it died, those successful became part of the gene pool. Every xl bully/mix has inherited this genetic programming (just like every border collie has inherited herding drive or a sighthound has inherited prey drive).Certainly many never harm a person their entire life, but any of them, once triggered, can seriously damage or kill a person. Statistically in a dog bite situation the xl bully does considerably more damage than other breeds. In the US Pitbulls (xl bully) account for 60% of human dog attack fatalities despite being 6% of the dog population. Limb amputations are considerably higher in xl bully attacks. And the statistics of dog on dog fatalities increases exponentially when an xl bully or mix is involved.
That's what kills me about the "flower crown" crowd. They'll often pull out statistics saying "Chihuahuas bite more than pitbulls". While this may be true, a chihuahua, or even a golden, doesn't do even remotely the same type of damage. I don't care if Rotties, shepherds, or a cocker spaniel is repsonsible for more bites per capita. They aren't the breeds killing people at a significantly higher rate.
Great VLOG... thanks for sharing! LOVE YOU MEG!! Good to see her running around with the other two! Wee Bonnie.. agree.. what a cutie pie! If she turns out to be a lot like her Mum.. you are in big trouble LOL. Love from the USA!
Great video, Cammy and Lizzy, i agree with you 100% Cammy about the dogs. Im not against xl breeds at all i have Great danes but would never have a xl bully type while i had kids in the house.near my kids / grandchildren. You and Lizzy make me laugh so much with what you come out with 😂 you really are a great team 😊. Little Bonnie has such beautiful eyes 😍 bless her little princess bow peep. Hope your recovery is going well Cammy you owe Lizzy a spar break when your back on form or atleast a huge bunch of flowers 😉 💜
Great video again. Love Bonnie's beautiful eyes. Missed Jock and Angus. Scotland has still beautiful weather. Here in the North of Sweden the night are really cold now and than.
It's gonna be foreign to your nature, Cammie, but maybe consider rotational grazing for parasite control? You divide your pastures with electric netting and move the sheep to a new field every 2 days. Set up the next field when you move the sheep into the new one, by simply taking down the netting and putting it back up in the new spot. Sometimes, 'bigger isn't better'. Takes time. Takes electric fencing, but it reduces the worm burden to a point where you will be saving money AND making more from the improved growth rates, without a worm burden..
I feel your pain mate. Worms here have become a really big issue in the last couple of years. Is good to know you have another option in Startech if needed.
Leaving it in the rain Cammy! Come on man. You're almost up there with 'the breaker of things'😅 Thanks for the video. Look forward to hearing more about moving some south on crops.
Another great video. Dam fly strike. Into spring here in New Zealand. Will put preventer on mine soon, as shearing is a wee way away after being sheared pre lambing. 🇳🇿
Interested in hearing about the traveling lambs We fed cows carrots one year The vet said that a cow who’s calf died and only triggered labor after it was rotten ( three days) survived because the carrots fought off the infection Don’t know but she should have died Went on to milk like a trouper but got an infection a couple years later we fed her carrots after the fact still wonder if she would have beaten the infection if she had been eating 🥕 while healthy Wouldn’t that be interesting if eating the vegetables improved their immunity
Agree on the dogs being the breed, not the owner- how come when pointing dogs 'point', herding dogs herd kids and small animals or retrievers carry things around, it's in their genetics but when it comes to bully breeds genetics become a moot point? With animals there comes a point where no amount of nurture can train out nature. Tame the instinct, sure but you are *never* going to 100% know what an animal will do- it's why rescue greyhounds are recommended to be muzzled whether they've come off the track or not, no amount of 'leave it' will stop them going after a smaller animal if the instinct kicks in. If I hear an XL owner say "It would never be mine doing that" I immediately put them in the idiot owner category. A responsible owner knows that it could be theirs one day, and takes every step to minimise the chances.
The price of the dewormer and other meds kind of took my breath away. Too bad about the lamb. Sheep are always looking for new ways to die. It looked so lovely there when you were setting up the Te Pare.
As a farmer and owner of multiple dog breeds, had and got Jack Russell border collie rottweiler German shepherd cane corso. My corso is just like an xl bully and there is more chance of the collie biting my family or someone random person (unless you break in my house) rottweiler and shepherd the same thing. It's crazy you're kids are around collies and there some of the highest bite rate dogs along with cocker spaniels
@deedawson6074 and many pack members have been bitten by many breeds, there at the bottom of the pecking order. I'm just stating its not just xl bullies that bite
While Cane Corsos are still a molossoid breed, they are significantly different than pit type dogs. They are closer to LSGDs than pit fighting breeds. They are also better bred. You are playing Russian Rulette when you get a bully type dog. Whle collies or spaniels may bite more, they do significantly less damage. Bullies may not have the hightest bite rates, but they are far and away the highest in damage and death statistics.
Bless weekend from Montreal QC .. and welcome back Cammy ! .. and another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation documentary countryside adventure and gorgeous settings presentation camera work and as always beautiful upload and share ! .. TQSM ! ..
Do you have to treat the ground at all? Or rotate off the ground the sheep were on for a period of time after deworming? Will they just reinfect themselves?
Cydectin or Moxedex arnt fit to shift haemonchus this year whatever type of worm it is. 2 mild winters past as meant that ground is polluted with them this year, levafas diamond has been a saviour this year to get lambs turned around again after been badly knocked
I can't speak for fuel quality in your area however, I only use the highest grade of premium gas for portable equipment because here, it means the gas won't absorb water as badly as methanol/ethanol gas will and you'll be having an easier time starting 😉👍🍻
Hey Cammie, just wanted to ask, have you still got the shetland x ewes?? Seen a lot of the cheviots and the blackies but haven’t seen anything on the Shetland in a while, feel your pain about rain in summer, it’s spring here in NZ and the rainy days have outnumbered the sunny days for sure, keep your head up.
Cammy, Cammy , Cam my you have to take better care of your Equipment, keep it out of the weather gas drained well oiled, greased if need be. It will save you TONS OF TIME when you go to use it when Needed. Taking a Few hours will save you many Hours of Frustration. Just thought, love your Videos and the Family cheers..
What type of dog are you talking about I could only understand "an ex Hill billy dog" I have never heard of such a breed... did the dogs kill. people in Scotland recently?
XL Bully dogs, they have been put under the dangerous dog act. Owners can keep them but they are not allowed to breed, sell etc and must be kept on a lead and muzzled when outside. Some owners, members of their family, public have been killed by this breed of dog.
@@TheSheepGame dunno about worldwide. My friend used to breed them ( XL bully) before the UK law changed. Everyone who has this breed in the UK needs a licence of exemption and has to adhere to the regulations.
6:48 it all depends how you train your dog an if your dog has aggressive issues needs to be in a pen but if it get bad enough were life could be in danger then you put the dog down
Sorry it's the first time I've disliked what u have said, dogs are born innocent puppy's they aren't born to attack. It's thr owners fault for not being responsible enough to train the dog properly. If u get any dog especially big breeds u need to train them properly, because this is what happens when dogs are left to run riot and do what they like with no training!
Before anyone says I'm obviously a xl bully owner no im not i have a Cocker spaniel I have had bully's in the past but not currently, but I am experienced and know that dogs aren't at fault for stupid irresponsible owners that don't train them.
I understand it’s a delicate subject. The reality is very few people ‘properly’ train their dog and all large dogs have the potential to do harm. Therefor it comes down to the power, an aggressive collie attack is far easier to survive than an attack from a pitbull type dog. I trust my dogs but I would never leave them alone with the kids. Especially in a confined space like a house because I don’t trust them as much as I love my kids! 😅. Just my views on it. It’s ok to disagree agreeably 🫣
Cammy have to say I don’t agree with you about the XL bullies. Blame the deed not the breed is my way of thinking. Also in some cases it comes down to owners not teaching their children boundaries with dogs also. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. Lizzie you have a brilliant sense of humour ❤😂
@@saraanderson8858 that’s a completely different topic. Livestock guardian dogs are bred with a purpose of protecting livestock from predators. So your friend can spend away.
A dog is only as bad as the way it is brought up have had 2 pit bull and had no problems with them in 23 years so don't blame the breed blame bad owners
