My name is Cammy Wilson and I am a sheep farmer based in Ayrshire, Scotland. Through this channel I plan to show you all aspects of keeping sheep and also some of the things I get up to as a contract shearer and sheep pregnancy scanner.
Having a laugh is my priority but if there are any educational bits in here too then that's just a bonus =D.

The thing about shearing that gets me is that I watch yall do this, and I think, there's got to be a better way. You spend so much time in stress positions, tearing up your back and stuff, getting kicked and headbutt and stuff. And it looks like there's got to be another way. Like putting them on an elevated platform so you don't have to bend like that. But there really isn't. I've watched you for a couple of years now, and no way have presented itself that wouldn't be much slower, more work for you, and more stressful for the sheep. Makes me get sympathy pains every time I watch.
Wee Bonnie ❤ I got here to your channel through the amazing sheepishly me channel 🐑 You remind me soo much of my uncles, they are both shepherds in Corsica, my great grandfather was also a goat shepherd and although I don’t know much about the subject (I’m a pharmacist 😅) I love that world, the animals, the countryside ❤ and your videos remind me my childhood summers with them, so thank you for that And thank you for showing that amazing profession so many times undervalued! You’re family is the best! Keep doing what you do 🩷 Kisses from Portugal 🇵🇹
Guid on ye. Great role-model. (I said "role-model" not "model" 😜) Fascinating to know, though starting at 55 might kill me 😂. Did ye have to pay Marrisa out o that, or did she get paid separately for baling? Don't need to know, just curious. Orra best, Mark
I've always wondered how the pay grade is on shearing sheep! Another fantastic podcast!!! This is so interesting and you are so full of knowledge. Thank you!
Great to see this. Considering the hard work that goes into it, plus tax (if it's part of work), it's a decent pay, but one you have to work for. Might look into it as something to do on my days off haha
That is good money. Your fee per sheep translates to $2.88 Canadian. Here in Ontario it is hard to get anyone who charges less than $5 and often more. The difference is that there are not many flocks where they are shearing more than 150 to maybe 200 at a time because we mostly run accelerated lambing, so smaller groups more often. We do have some large pasture lambing flocks over 700 head and up to 2000+, but they are not as common. We are in real need of good shearers who are reliable. Thanks for sharing, and for the glimpses of your lovely family.
Your shearing is beautiful and I love watching you do it. Oh what a beautiful family you are! Really enjoy your videos and seeing the little ones. My goodness the boys are growing fast and Bonnie is just lovely! Lizzie, you have such energy, you’re already on the go. ❤❤
> Breed of sheep up next. @ 7:10 > English subtitles > Translated Exactly to this > "look at the sheap we've got here suff crosses pelar." (What Horrible translating) sheap / pelar - haha. So, I looked up a 'pure breed sheep chart' and found a sheep breed w/black face...and a name starts with the letter 'S.' Are those sheep > Suffolk ? 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 I'm just trying to learn my sheep. I had no idea there were so many different breeds.
Bonnie is just beautiful! And shhe looked so comphy! My dear mother in law was named Bonnie too! She was so full of love and life! I wish your beautiful girl the same love and a long happy life! I loved mymother in law so much and miss her everyday! Therecan never be enough Bonniesin the world!!
Yikes > Three (3) children...under the age of Three (3) > I will 🙏for more sleep for Lizzie. (Well, how about for your entire family) If all the babies Sleep... the parents sleep too. Haha. > Oh....Sweet, sweet Bonnie. > Later in Life, when things aren't so hectic...it will be a Blessing that these 3 siblings, are so close in age. > It's a life-long Bond.
Great video Cammy aye it’s hard work for shears but as you said money is good great at the end when you are chatting and encouraging young people to give it a go 💪👌
Err...it's not the first time on a Sheep Game video...remember that you filmed her the evening of her birth...a big 10lb 12oz👶...man, your Lizzy is a superwoman😃🌠
Good morning Cammy. An interesting video about sheep sheering.❤️👍and how nice to see all of you and your family. Such a nice o e also. Your beautiful little baby darlings are so cute and Lizzy looks great.❤️🥰
I really look forward to your videos each week Lizzie and Cammie. 🌟 I only wish there were more! You are all amazing. ♥️ I have a degenerative condition that now keeps me mainly housebound and in a wheelchair. I have daily IV infusions into a needle that goes into a port in my chest. Thank you for bringing me joy. You really do make a difference in keeping my spirits up‼️ I’m not giving up - I have two beautiful kids and everything to live for. Keep up the good work and blessings from my family to yours in Alice Springs, The Northern Territory, Central Australia 🇦🇺.
A substitute schoolteacher in Escondido, California earns much less than that! You need a bachelor's degree from university and to pass a California teaching exam.
Watching you from Missouri USA. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. We raise meat goats but still gain knowledge of how you run your farm and it is inspiring!
i am surprised you only make 1.65 pounds per sheep considering how hard sheering is but then farmers aren't getting much for the fleece at the moment are they. thank you for sharing
Great video, Cammy, especially with you encouraging young lads n lasses to get into shearing. It may look easy to us watching, but my word you work hard for that money and earn every penny. It's great to see you encouraging the youngsters into sheep farming/ working with sheep. It was so lovely to see Lizzy (she is looking so well) and Jock and Angus, and of course, little Bonnie, what a beautiful family 😊. Thank you for the vidio, take care, see you next time 😁💜
I wouldn’t bust my ass for the peanuts you make shearing. It’s absurd. Put your efforts elsewhere. Hell, the shearing content isn’t even that great. Boring AF.
