In this video, I show you an easier series of techniques to remove your wheel bearings and CV axles. Wheel bearings are definitely high wear items especially if you have larger tires and a heavier setup. If you run into seized parts while doing your work, definitely check out my previous CV and Wheel bearing video - where I do run into rusted on parts - it's definitely NOT FUN: • FRONT Wheel Bearing Re...

You're the best. I subscribed to you a while back after finding your alignment video. I am doing the lcas on a buddy's truck right now and was at the point of thinking i was about to have to pull the axles. Just in case i pulled youtube up and it defaults to subscribed videos on the site. Less than 10 minutes ago sure enough here this is. I didnt think to punch the sleeves through for clearance and you just saved mea lot of time. Thanks man

Hey Karl... Great video as always. 2 things...1. How do you know that your alignment will hold true when you use the red loktite on the cam washer? Isn't that part of the adjustment for the alignment? 2. Why have you waited this long to show us your dog?!?!? More dog pics please!! Keep us the great work. One more thing... Have you ever dealt w a p0500 code? I have had this as a recurring issue for 2 years now. Anything you can suggest would be amazing. Thanks as always!

Hi Matthew, great questions! to answer them: 1) I still did an alignment check and readjustment after I install these LCA's. The position of the cam bolts was how it was before the replacement - so it was a good baseline to start with before the alignment check. The red loctite cures completely after 24 hours, so if it does require readjustment after this initial installation, I still have that time window. 2) He's a recent addition to our family here - his name is Axle LOL. We adopted him a few weeks ago - he's been a lot of work and a lot of love and joy! You'll definitely see more of him in some of the newer Vlogs this year 3) That P0500 seems to be more prominent with the Auto Transmission. Here's some information from others with the same issue on TW: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/p0500-code-vehicle-speed-sensor.434829/

@@KFloTacoma Thanks for the link. The p0500 is quite a wormhole. Good luck with your new pooch!

Awesome video! I suspect my LCA frame side bushings are shot, but my ball joint still seems fine. It sucks to hear the bushings are a major PITA. I was hoping to try to press some new ones in as I fear aftermarket LCAs won't hold up nearly as well as OEM. My tacoma is 4 years old and I live in the northeast, from your experience is that about an average age for replacement? Thanks for all the tips in the video especially the wheel bearing grease.

The ones that came off of this video was installed back in 2019 (which are from the same company that made the ones I'm installing in tis video). It's pretty good considering that I run 35" tires and a 1300 lb camper. Plus I also beat up my suspension on the trails.

Hello Carl Your master mechanic with all the tools and knowledge..what was your reasoning for getting a new LCA and not reusing your factory one and press out the old bushing and replace with new ones?
@KFloTacoma
@KFloTacoma Месяц назад
Hey George, great question. A few personal reasons: 1) you have to torch off the old rubber bushing and use a bottle jack to push it outwards (it's a lot of work about 1+ hour per LCA on just bushings) Time is money also right? 2) The bushings require cutting a pressed in steel sleeve - there's no way to cut it out without damaging the LCA's tubes. I didn't want to install a weakened LCA - thin walls can propagate cracking 3)replacing the assembly is so much easier and the cost savings on doing the bushings is miniscule compared to the time saving 4) Getting Fresh metal on the LCA is pretty nice as well since mine does get bashed around the trails pretty often... I hope this answers your question - if you have any further questions let me know! Thanks for watching

Do you torque the cam bolts after the truck is on the ground or while in the air?

17:15 - If you watch carefully. I compress the strut with the jack. It's the same effect as the truck on the ground. You want the strut in the compressed position
