Right to the point. Wanted to see the switch install procedure and your vid saved me some time knowing exactly what trim to remove and how and wondering about where the pigtail was. Hardest part was removing the switch blank. Thanks

Thank you for your great video! I got a new 22 SR5, and, of course, the switch was missing. So far you’re about the only one who went the extra mile and showed the switch install. The parts guy said that I needed the switch, the lights and the relay. So far I’ve installed the lights and I am taking a break before I start the switch. I am hoping that I can return the relay, because you didn’t need one on your SR5. Again, thanks for your clear video. Update: I installed the switch as you did in the video, and everything worked perfectly. I forgot to mention that I have an access cab. So now I get to go back to Toyota, and get $31 plus tax back! Happy, happy joy, joy!

This is a really good “how to video.” Being very cautious about not scratching anything it took me less than 30 mins to complete the install. I ordered the complete kit only to find that my 2023 TRD Sport already had the relay. Thanks

Excellent explanation and very useful video. For me the leds were necessary because I have the bed closed. Thanks!

The cover holding the switches pops out, all you need is a plastic trim removal tool and it will pop right off by prying on the edges at each corner. The plastic trim removal tool will not damage the plastic cover. you can find these at Harbor Freight if you don't have one, they sell them as a 6 piece set. Once that plastic cover is popped off you can remove the blank where the switch goes, it will slide out of the rear of the cover plate there is a tab you have to push on one side of the blank and you will need to gently pry the sides away from the tabs on the blank and it will slide right out the back. Once that is done you slide in the new switch from the back side and push until you feel it click into place. The harness is just below where the blank for the switch was and is plugged into a dummy plug inside the dash, just pull out that plug and plug it into the new light switch and reinstall the switch panel you popped out of the dash by lining it up and pushing it into place, you will feel it snap into place. Much easier than pulling the entire bottom panel apart.

Thanks. I try to do a step by step guide and not an automotive entertainment video that skips vital steps.

Super easy install with your step by step instructions. I have the 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport Access Cab version and it helped to see what was needed for access cab owners. I did buy the complete OEM kit from a Toyota shop that included the relay. I did not need the relay. I’ll toss that on eBay and get some money back. Now on to the tougher headlight swap from OEM halogen to OEM LED’s! Thanks!

Yep, found out about the missing switch after I put the bed lights in. Then found out the switch was 70 bucks. Ugh.

It is so much easier popping out the front cover you showed in the beginning. You went through a lot of extra work for nothing. That front switch plate cover is easy to pop out with out damaging it.

Where are the relays located?

drivers side above the cab fuses and to the left. There should be (3) blue large relays. The cargo light relay is the center one.

I’ve done that on both Tacomas I’ve had. It’s pretty Fing lame you gotta buy it aftermarket instead of Toyota just installing them when truck is built. More money

How do you know if you have the relay? I have the SR model.

I'm not sure what the part looks like, but if you install the switch and lights and the bed lights don't come on, then you're missing the relay.

Are those lights OEM if not where did you purchase them from?
