Tundra- bigger in all areas, work truck, powerful Tacoma- fuel efficient, easy to maneuver and drive, more practical

This solidified my decision to grab a Tacoma. I think they are both nice trucks but for my line of work which is traveling a lot and only needing a ladder and small storage, the gas efficiency would be the most logical for me. Thank you for going into detail on this 🔥

I love my Tacoma but I miss my 2010 Tundra. That was the best work truck I ever had.

I love them both! Tundra for the lifted, big tire mall crawler type rig...Also the Tundra for towing a boat or travel tailer... Tacoma because it's just awesome! Best resale value, kicks butt off roading and looks as good as it performs off road! If only the Tacoma had a front solid axle and V8...plus locking front and rears...Wrangler would have serious competition!

I went with the tundra. The space and power is just not there with the tacoma. I did like how easy the tacoma is to drive/park though

You should do a comparison of a 1st gen tundra to 2nd gen tundra 07-2013.

Great overview- if you could only own one for daily driving which would you pick? Maybe a dumb question- Can you step on that dip in the rear Tacoma bumper?

Id rather have my 1992 Nissan Compact Pickup. 100% - if a car company would make a compact pickup again, it would DOMINATE sales. So many small business owners in USA need just a small vehicle to haul materials. And the general population loved the compact pickup. Do it right and a small compact pickup would over take the sales of the Tacoma. No doubt in my mind.

With as much as the Tacoma's grown I agree its time to slot a new one below it!

Do all tundras and Tacoma’s have the atrac system? I really want a Tacoma but I’m 6’1 225 lbs. it feels so small. Also the bed is really shallow and small. I’m torn. The Tacoma’s are sweet off road and I want to do some hard off road. However if I spend 40k Idk if I’ll risk beating it up lol.
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 года назад
Atrac is not standard on the Tacoma - not sure about the Tundra. It does come standard on the 4Runner which might be a better option if you don't have to have a pickup - the driver seat is definitely more spacious.

Get a tundra . As a homeowner you need that 6ft bed to haul junk around or start home protects... a v8 4 runner has more room and power than a tacoma

I need a big powerful full sized four door truck to easily tow a 25 foot 6000 - 8000 pound travel trailer. Is Toyota still making the Tundra and is it better than Ram Ford & Chevy 1500s ?
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 года назад
Yes the tundra is still available. As far as better thats a complicated question. It hasn't changed much and falls short of Ram, Chevy and Ford in terms of performance with power, tow capacity and fuel efficiency but its tried and tested and probably more reliable long-term.
@Hundert1
@Hundert1 4 года назад
@@DrivenCompanion thanks, guess I'm sticking with my 2019 Ram 1500 for now then. You save me time cuz I always heard about Toyota pickups being long lasting and very nice. I'm very happy with the spacious interior and rear seat reclining Ram has. Also got mine with a front bench style seat which is very comfortable indeed, plus the center console flips up or down. I absolutely love the shifter being a knob on the dashboard. Frees up space and is completely out of the way, yet so readily accessible. The only thing I'm dissatisfied with is Mopar only has a driver side deployable rear bumper bed step. I called them and explained how much safer it is to get in and out of the bed from the passenger side. Hopefully they now make a deployable bed step for the passenger side too. Fortunately found an aftermarket version for the passenger side rear bumper from Bestop company available on Amazon anyway. It's not quite as solid mounted as the Mopar one but it does the job. Keep up with your thorough and informative videos! Check out Scotty Kilmer on RU-vid. He's based in Texas and is a rare honest mechanic who is very prolific. Prost 👋🏼

Would it be a huge difference off road trucks? I want the 2021 Tacoma but I really want a off road 6 foot bed and they’re not offering that, so I’m leaning towards waiting to see if the 2022 tundra will come in a V6
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 3 года назад
You can get a longbed TRD OR (that's what mine is). And for off-roading I'd definitely go with a Tacoma if thats what you're after.

I have a 2nd gen Tacoma and I'm thinking about getting a used Tundra (around 2011-2013). Anyone know if a comparison for a 2nd gen Tacoma with a Tundra?
@DrivenCompanion
@DrivenCompanion 4 года назад
The comparison is pretty similar with a 2nd Gen Tacoma. The 4.0L in your 2nd gen is arguably better than the 3.5 in the 3rd gen and i'd say the interior on the 3rd gen is nicer. Other differences are minor and subjective. Really comes down to whether you like the larger size, extra power and smoother ride of the Tundra as opposed to offroad capability, maneuverability and better gas mileage of the Tacoma. That along with that the Tacoma will probably see better long-term resale value.

The tundra rear seats should fold down like a ram. I personally think they should fix this for more room and benefits. Payload should be a lot more too. The payload is less than 200 pounds from the tacoma. So only a popup camper would be maximum payload.for the price I would go for the tundra and get a popup camper for it.
