I completely feel you and I was as mad as Darwin himself seemed when he was called to the bench. However, I get Klopp's decision since he was coming back from an injury and wasn't fit to play the whole 90. Gakpo, on the other hand, is performing _really_ poorly for a while now, it should have been Jota... Edit: I know Jota's injured. I said "it should have been," as in, "oh how I wish he wasn't injured! But alas! he is..."
Endo and Macca outclassed the City midfield today. I was also very impressed with Robbo's discipline to stay back when he was subbed on and not leaving a massive hole behind him.
Klopp's Pressing system showed the way to how to deal with pep's man city.Never let them settle with the ball.Never seen Man city Being outplayed outclassed like this. Gonna miss this rivalry.
Exceptional tactics by Klopp. With that first lineup, I was a bit scared but within about 16 mins in, Liverpool were fighting. The 2nd half though. City were dominated, the final meeting was despite a draw, a very epic showdown
Klopp is a true genius, going up against Pep and putting up a fight with some players not really as good as Man City players. Just shows how much he has improved this season, with one transfer window that is in a title battle! The Premier League will miss Klopp and Pep when they go tactical geniuses!
Luis Diaz was like a warrior in the 2nd half, really carrying the fight for Liverpool all his performance missed in that 2nd half was a goal. He had walker on strings. But klopp has being a great asset for the PL & Liverpool as a whole and will be missed.
i really like the lad, especially his attitude and work ethic, but I cant help but think he spurned our greatest chance of winning the league with those misses in the 2nd half...
Apart from the shocking officiating it just goes to show how Jurgen Klopp has massively rebuilt his team in the space of 1 summer on another day we win this game 2-1 if we took our chances
Luis Diaz was a warrior in that second half, carrying the fight. He takes the chances he had, then you’re looking at a season defining victory for Liverpool tbf. However point isn’t the worst result and city or us haven’t really pulled clear points wise, so still all to play for.
3 Liverpool player impress me so much this game, VVD with his dominance singlehanded the Liverpool defense in the city counter, with sometimes start the counter with his switch passes. Bradley use his opportunity nicely with his driblling open so many chances. And of course Diaz he play like true warrior this game just unlucky not clinical enough.
Great tactics from both Gaffers buh i think Klopp watches Pep alot and tends to tinker with Pep's ids in a way,..... testament to that is the inversion of TAA and now a box midfield and other minor tweaks, something that was almost non- existent in his earlier models
You do know that Klopp's ggpresing came from Sacchi. Pep's tiki taka variants were Cruyff's answer to neutralise geggenpressing. It was a battle of 2 footballing philosophies......and the players quality and teamwork.
Really great game by Liverpool. Normally when a manager is about to leave, play morale are low. But what a great game. As a city fan, ederson fucked up and Liverpool scored. But I was surprised with a few of the chances by Salah and dias not going in. You deff dominated us in second half. Although I like to think which grealish playing instead of Alvarez( if he was fit), y'aal still may have dominated who knows, but I do think we would have more control in that center
As Arsenal fan I loved the game I was hate watching but I forgot about that n damn pool in that second half was superb plus idk why he took Nunez off thou
I think City are better suited playing in a false 9 system in matches like this. This is where I prefer a player like Aguero. Aguero, under Pep, went from being a traditional striker to a false 9 where he would drop deep to link with City's midfield and then drift wide to cause those flank overloads. Haaland, in as much as he is a lethal striker, lacks the technical ability to play in that false 9 role like Aguero did. If you look at the City vs Liverpool games of the past, still under Pep and Klopp era, you will understand what I'm talking about. City vs Liverpool games in the 2018/19 season for example when City had prime Leroy Sane, prime Sterling and Prime Aguero as the forwards, constantly gave Liverpool headaches even in away games at Anfield. It was much more difficult to man mark that front 3 (Sane, Sterling and Aguero) as compared to the current forwards we have. With Sane and Sterling, City had pace on the wings, meaning City could also play on the counter attack during transitions. In yesterday's game, however, City were not only dominated in midfield but also off-the ball, City seemed lethargic. Haaland is not a great presser of the ball, and that in turn affects how the team presses. I miss that trio of Aguero, Sterling and Sane.
Haaland isn't even really lethal. He misses a ton of chances and gets by mostly on tap-ins. They're much off selling him as soon as possible. He's an utter liability if he's not tapping the ball in.
@@amadoralmeida7190 Pep swapped Bernando to the right and Foden to middle so that Bernardo who has better workrate can track Robertson bombing down the flank. Remove Bernando and we will overwhelm your right side even more
the main difference is intensity, Liverpool players so much energy to run and cover the fields, applying pressure i gotta feeling Pep is aware so he instructed Ederson to play long ball much more often, compare to Kelleher on the other side i dont get the reason why Alvarez underperformed most of the time i watched, probably he was selected to start because of his work rate had Doku started instead, City could’ve posed more threat to Liverpool defence
doku loses the ball more, inthe 2nd half there are mulitple counter attack i can see coming from doku's side. Our right side is bombarded due to foden high pressing, our left side is bombared due to doku liability on defensive side.. Alvares was good on first half of the game tbf
I think it's difficult to compare tactics when the energy levels of the two teams were so vastly different. Liverpool were pressing with 3 and 4 players almost the whole match while City seemed strangely inert. I know that's partially coaching and systems but City probably could've benefited from running a LITTLE...
When a home team is running and pressing like that is very hard to match the energy as a road team. You got to give the fans credit for giving Liverpool that extra boost to press and attack relentlessly for 90 minutes. That’s a lot harder to do on the road.
I LIKE YOUR ANALYSIS, I THINK ON RU-vid YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE THAT YOUR ANALYSIS IS SOO CLEAR. I THINK YOU HAVE BECOME A COACH SOMETIME. I'M MENEZCO-TV FROM GHANA. I REALLY LOVE YOU.
Great Analysis Man, Hats down to you! I’m LFC fan whole my life, and this second half was one of the most beautiful and dominant plays! So proud! Still cant accept Klopp is leaving😢 My biggest admiration in this game is Klopp exposing Haland as a City weaknes - not enough involved in a build up, not a great passer, dont get the Tiki Taka, not grear game understandig… Sooner or later Pep’s gonna hate him…
I wanted liverpool to win this time, klopp is threatening city even without guys like salah, trent,Robertson.he is using talented kids like Bradley, endo and unknown quansah and still gives tough time to city.seriously klopp needs good farewell
Everyone watched Haaland and De Bruyne have one shot on target and one touch in the opponents box against Gomez, Quansah, and Bradley and still say City are favorites for the title xD
Arsenal are the only winners of this match, but I feel like we are the biggest losers. We’re now 3rd in the table, which would equal our lowest ever finish under Pep, and can’t afford to drop anymore points if we want to stay in this title race.
Darwin needs to evolve, 5 offsides is so awful and unacceptable. He ranks 1st in EPL offsides by a landslide and that should be top priority for a 100 million dollar striker. What a joke.
Liverpool suffocated City and dismantled their stronghold in tbe middle of the park forcing them to retreat and defend with their life to save a point. But they have Luiz Diaz to curse for humiliating the best No 6 in the world, making him eat the grass and to thank him for his poor end product. Withdrawing Nunez was the only error Klop made, Nunez would have gotten a deadly pass from Salah or vice versa to get that winning goal aside the clear red card and penalty which Liverpool was wrongfully denied
Defense and Milfield was huge testerday. Haaland didnt touch the ball...Silva was missing and even KDB was replaced because didn't get the ball. Quansah did his better perfomance..VVD bought his ticket to heaven and Endo, Bradley ; Gomez and Roberton was perfect defending, pressing and delivered the ball to Macca ( oh my god...Macca) and Szobo Eliott and Salah. The only regret ( for me at least) was the two missed chances by Diaz and Nuñez ( by the way....NEVER ...NEVER... GAKPO COULD BE TAKE HIS PLACE ON THE PITCH). Huge preformance. PROUD
Doku was trying to control the ball when mC Allister flopped his chest straight into doku's boot. It was an unavoidable contact, mc allister was clearly fishing for a pen.
The game should have ended 5-3. Nunez was gassed by the 70th minute and he's just coming back from injury. Liverpool will now have to chase goal difference because Arsenal might look like they will bully washed up Bernardo and De Bryune.
Guardiola should have used Kovačić earlier. City seemed quite shaken and overwhelmed by Liverpool's intense press, particularly in the second half. Kovačić was very composed under pressure (as usual), skipped past challenges & virtually didn't lose the ball since coming on; City ostensibly had better control in the match and seemed more comfortable in possession. The surprising thing is, he was bought particularly for occasions like this - when the opposing press is consistently very high; so for Guardiola to leave him out for so long was a bit ironic.
Agree. I think pep designed four player to take the ball and reduce the usual pressute Livepoll use specially in Anfield. The first 30 minutes these plan works ( Foden was untackable ) till Endo and Ma cca ( omg Macca) took the rythm and Liverpool's intensity starts. I dont remember right now a Manchester City so minimized and reduced as yesterday. Intesity, precisition, and courage. Klopp rules.
think he was assessing since the first half gone for city's side I don't think that he predicted Liv would stepped up the intensity by a level / two. once Klopp instructed the press he switched off KDB since he's a better played in big spaces not small one. I just think that having alvarez instead of doku might have been better. Doku is a bit lacking defensively.
4 4 2 against liverpool is a death sentence.......they aim at outnumbering you in the midfield. We saw this in season 2019-20 when city used a 4 4 2 and Liverpool outnumbered them in the midfield.,not to forget the gegenpressing,...its a disaster for any opponent.
City started 4-1-4-1, (Rodri was the "1" and 4 offensives midfielder ahead) and went later to 3-2-4-1 (Stones moved beside Rodri). I think Pep plan's failure was the weak play in Silva and KDB. The original ,plan was about taking the ball and slow down the Liv's usual pressing. That plan worked just the earlies 30 minutes when Foden was unstoppable. Later...till Kovacic came in the hole game was red-.
@@IamFootballmerc yes....agree with that. Maybe Stones x Julian and Diaz in the defense...more balance. I think it wasn¿t a matter of names...the difference was the intensity and the consistency.
Watching this match after the usual Milan boredom with Pioli (Klopp would win the treble every year with our squad, mark my words) confirms my fear: the only way Inter can lose the UCL is by facing Real Madrid in the final. If Inzaghi put up a serious challenge to Pep in last year's final with part of the squad already somewhere else, he can actually beat him this year with a more united team where everyone is on the same page.
How come a draw home at Anfield is a tactical masterclass from Klopp but the same is a major failure from Pep? Lol I guess there's a difference. Our worst season in years and your best along with Arsenal. I'll top that, that was our worst performance since Southhampton over a year ago and probably longer than that. Horrible display from us and we got a point... You lot are living of scraps and act like your the kings of the world. We'll lift the trophy at the end anyways.
Playing/starting without Jota, salah, konate, Allisson, Robinson and Trent vs a full city starting line up will a bench of premium player. Liverpool put 2 academies in the back line and a reserve GK with a kid upfront and a Japanese who cost 16M vs the Best attacking and defensive midfield in the world an more important with 0 fraud change..... still save by VAR and Ref....
I would have take Foden off. His end product was woeful. Kept KDB on to drop in behind the midfield line. Walker had a bizarre game as well. Pep doesn't have CBs who could pass out from the back..maybe Gvardiol would have been better here. I'd have shifted Bernado to the wings so that he could hold up the ball..because this wasn't a game that needed pace.
I was so mad after the game that I avoided watching this immediately. However, this game is what is going to push City over the edge. Much like last season Pep will adapt the Haaland and Kovacic roles to find a way to get the best out of his wingers. Bar Foden most of them have struggles and with Bernado playing deeper and deeper the City attack is one sided. He needs Grealish back to balance the left hand and it will push Bernado higher close to him. We saw this in the earlier game against United, if KDB is fit then the two half spaces will be better. Also he should have played Dias to give Stones more room. Akanji while solid is exactly like Stones. He can’t dictate alone as a CB. The Arseanal game will be a litmus for Pep. How well he adapts to the new arsenal will decide the tittle. Much as I think Pool can win it, they are wasteful. Only a matter of time before the have an actual problem running in.
I don't know how pep doesn't get in doku just after half time because of what we have seen in first half brandly pushing up higher but that can be advantage for city if they get doku on the ball and that can be stop that right hand side danger
Premier League table at the end: 1. ManCity (they have the easiest game schedule of the top 3, and a good enough solid form to push through it and also enough quality to replace potential injuries), 2. Arsenal (they are in the best form of the top 3, but await very hard schedule, with few local derbies still to play), 3. Liverpool (tough schedule until the end and their form is fluctuating lately, sometimes playing great, sometimes not that convincigly, only barely snatching late winners), 4. Tottenham (they've beaten Aston Villa to a pulp and are in a great form to pull it off), 5. Aston Villa for Europa League (they are in a good enough form to play through a tough schedule and stay away few points from ManUtd which also has their form fluctuating with many key players not performing so good).
KDB shouldn’t leave the pitch, just replace Kova with alvarez and let bernardo go on the left winger! We lost alot of creativity in the second half, thats ridiculous.
He not only got outclassed,he was very scared the oil might blow right in his face but the oily stuff once again denied LFC victory.Did you ever watched any Bruce Lee movies lately?
Liverpool completely and utterly outplayed them, even in the first half Liverpool had multiple chances to lead in the game. Diaz should’ve had at least a hattrick, 4-2 would’ve been a fair score and that’s a conservative estimate.
Shit were this close of shitting the bed, this close. Thanks to the refs they survived once again otherwise that was a clearly penalty on Macca by Doku.
