The only "strange" thing are the delusional people who clearly either didn't watch the game or just clueless in general who don't understand how , Liverpool had a perfectly onside goal disallowed and only got beat in the last minute in stoppage time by an own goal with only 9 men. This will be , by many , seen as one of the best performances of the season and rightfully so and yes the title charge is even more valid with the evidence on show here.
@@MODERNDAYJESTER Can't win titles if you keep getting players sent off and make games difficult for yourselves! Every team gets bad decisions against them, deal with it!
Was a tad disappointed Spurs didn't go into a tactical change to stretch Liverpool wide but instead continued pounding from the front door, relying much on Maddison's genius and Son's industry.
Agreed, once Liverpool was 2 man down, their objective was clear and they executed it really well. No creativity from us to break that defense. Keep passing to Kulusevski on the right wing clearly wasn't the answer but we kept doing it. Was frustrating to watch tbh
@@deloford9 men mate. It’s not like we had 11 men on the pitch. But I still think spurs should’ve done better. If this is how they’re playing against 9 men then I’m worried for them
Ever since Klopp has been willing to stray from his tactical system since he made Trent inverted he’s been a beast at in game management, it’s funny because it turns out he’s only been using a fraction of his power this entire time
He used the best and most effective tactics on previous players. On the other hand, the potential of the current team is absolutely enormous, honestly the biggest in the world and he pushes them to do everything possible and when this team reaches its full potential, there is no team which can win us. Jurgen Klopp is the greatest manager of all time, a tactical genius with extremely good man management skills. Ps. No one can change my mind.
@@JJJ-bs8sm Yep, it's just like a normal "netflix & chill" at the back / park the bus method. Nothing special. Plus, liVARpool still lost the game with this tactic, proving this tactic is not working at all.
this game showed that the mentality monsters Liverpool are back and in no point of the game was Klopp outsmarted by Ange. 9 man Liverpool needed an own goal to be defeated by 12 man Spurs(of course I am including the motm Ref) at the 95th minute. forget about tactics this was absolute robbery by VAR, and this isn't the first time this happened against us. The Bournemouth game even if we won it and the Newcastle game too. I am so proud of my team YNWA!!
2 fair red cards and one mistake by VAR on the offside. But what about the foul that led to LiVARpool goal that was an error by the ref, Udogie clearly tipped the ball in that tackle yet received a yellow card. Chalk that goal off too while youre playing these fantasies in your head.
@@delofordAlmost every football podcast believes that the game was rigged the first tackle from Jota was not a yellow. Biased Trophyless Tottenham fan enjoy your win.😂
Allison looked like a player who relishes these challenges. He turned up brilliantly. He was beyond world class. But human after all as he couldn't stop Matip's failed clearance.
You forgot about the ONSIDE goal with only 10 men which the pgmol apologised later. That was 1-0 to liverpool with one man down & later gakpo who was fouled scored & had to limp because of that foul. No red cards for real injury but red cards are given for only possible injuries.
@@kk7324 imagine being so mad at another team even though it was the ref that cheated you out of three points. you need to direct your anger towards refs, not spurs
This is daylight robbery . What if we lose the league by 2 points? This game would be the reason. Horrible decisions , all against us. We played fantastic today, that defense was title winning.
Actually they had 19 man team, 11 Spurs players, 4 field referees and 4 var referees+ we can also calculate 0,5 extra man as they played at their home stadium. Our guys fighted like a true war heroes, I am so proud of them.
Liverpool were more dangerous with 9 men than a full spurs team goes to show while ange is amazing so far, they have some time to grow before being challengers
Nice video. Until now I never knew what tactics could be used if a team is a man down, never mind 2. A unique tactics video for an unusual game. Well done.
Nice analysis. I'm surprised Klopp brought on Jota instead of Nunez considering Nunez' last 10-man heroics. Maybe he thought Nunez was more likely to get in yellow card trouble at the time than Jota? Ouch if so. This was probably the worst refereeing I've witnessed between the LFC goal that wasn't reviewed and the card decisions. It's odd to see a red card on a clear attempt to the ball, got the ball, only to roll over the top of it out of one's control. I'm never a fan of sending off players on unintentional/unlucky happenstances like this, esp in big games where you want to see the best go toe to toe. Not missing a toe or two. The first Jota yellow card was also cheap. Guy's heel clips Jota's knee? Jota didn't reach for him. Blow the whistle fine, but a yellow? (2nd one Jota clearly reaches w/o an attempt on the ball, clear yellow). I don't think Spurs had a yellow till late in the 2nd half. (not that they deserved any, but it was just odd). I told my cousin (Spurs fan), Kudos on finally beating Liverpool at home. It only took VAR, 2 red cards, and a last second OG.
The saddest thing about this game was the first 25 minutes was a real competitive game full of risk and was easily the most enjoyable piece of football played all year for supporting fans and neutral fans alike, not only have they completely bollocksed more than a few decisions up they have stolen potentially the best game of the season from all football fans, and that is unforgiveable.
Spurs did not deserve that win. Referees played a very big part in them winning that game. It just shows how pathetic referees in England are. Its a disgrace to the football community. Kudos to Liverpool for showing great personality and being able to play with 9 men.
Horseshit. Jones' tackle was reckless, and could have ended a career. Straight red...and Flopp would have screamed bloody murder had it happened to one of his players.
The game showed why Liverpool will be challenging this year (much improved defensively and loads of attacking options) and also why spurs will fall short (weak bench, limited offensively).
Spurs have changed under ange but rigid & like you said just limited to son & madisson & without them spurs are basically not good enough. Pgmol have apologised but if this match was reconducted you & I know what that result would be with 11 liverpool players.
That's complete tripe mate. Spurs are in no way limited offensively. They didn't play well on Saturday & struggled to shift the ball wide enough. But at 11v11, they were easily the more assured, dominant team and LFC struggled to chase runners. That's why they lost their heads and their I'll-disciplined approach cost them massively. That lack of discipline this season will cost LFC massively, as already noted this season.
Cards given to Jota and Jones in this game have been consistent with rulings in recent seasons. Whether you agree with the rulings is a separate discussion, but what is critical is consistency, which was upheld in this game.
you forgot about several things, like udogie asking for yellow card and not getting sent off despite it happening to other teams and liverpool, and you also forgot the fact that the ref didn't yellow a spurs player who's already on a yellow for taking off their shirt.
At the beginning of the game the match looked to be really pumped for great football, as it was anticipated, but the refs had to take it into their own hands to make the game about them; rather than the football.
Leaving the retarded refs aside, I feel like klopp made a huge mistake in the start of 2nd half bringing in jota for gakpo and leaving szobo and macalister as the holding pivots. Klopp rarely makes such tactical blunders but this was a very obvious one: The whole world knows spurs love overpowering the middle by making their fullbacks play in the R and L attacking mid spots. Klopp should have brought in Endo for Gakpo to close the gaps in the middle. Spurs were raping Liverpool for a good 15mins in the 2nd half. I have no idea how they didn't manage to score even 1 from that phase of play. Szobo and Mac were begging for support. Despite going 1 man down and with the whole ref team against them, they could have definitely pulled off a shocker with the bench strength they had. Klopp definitely missed a trick or two here
@@jjr2574 the only problem was Jota's introduction. I knew it had to be Nunez for Gakpo but Klopp thought Jota was better defensively and it's reasonable
@@issayasmelese2880 no but I don't understand why he would leave just 2 attacking minded midfielders to hold the lines when they are already 1 man down against ange's team who loves playing through the press. I honestly thought bringing in Endo was a no brainer. It should have been the same template as newcastle. Suffer until the 75th min and then bring on Nunez for pace on the counter. Liverpool should have definitely won this game regardless of the ref's decisions.
I noticed the pressing trap early and told my cousin (spurs fan) spurs needed to switch to a 3-2. Also the controversy surrounding jotas red is the first foul, the spurs player tripped himself and jota got a yellow
Jota clips him. And Jota had just been warned by the ref, he stopped the counter with a tactical foul immediately after... unfortunately he kinda did it to himself in this situation, same w the red. Bro is on a yellow had no business w that late tackle on udogie there
Its funny because Klopp called us out for parking the bus a couple seasons ago then they park the bus and still lose… after last season when they got a winning goal from a player who booted Oliver Skipp in the head… just sheer poetry 💉💉💉💉
Cry me a river pal. Lap it up and move on, Liverpudlian bellyacher. Spurs will only get better with time, just need 2 or 3 more windows. Being a coach and not being a referee, i don't like talking about the officialing and the ref's decision as of the VAR's. I like to remark the amazing job that Ange Postecoglu is doing, within such a short time. He's created a squad; with a clear and identifiable starting XI and some quality alternatives. I don't root for anyone and being absolutely neutral, i can tell that this team look nothing like the recent past ones. Klopp is such a fantastic coach; such a great reader of the game and it was impressive the way he's been able to adapt to all the setbacks along the way and Liverpool have shown how different are they, from what they were last season. I praise you for your wonderful analysis. You're very good. Much credit to you and to both the teams for that awesome game, they played.
I wonder why Big ange chose Richy instead of Solomon, What aspect made him choose Richy? Is it physical part for defense? If were Ange, I would've picked up Solomon.

To be fair to ange, he probably hasn't trained the team much on how to deal with a 9 man team. I did notice in the last few minutes the subs Tottenham brought on overloaded the box when they were looking to cross, should have done it sooner. I felt Tottenham did well holding possession also.
As good as Liverpool were.... Tottenham played better 11 Vs 11 than they did 11 Vs 10 and definitely better than 11 Vs 9... spurs clearly had no idea how to play to exploit the advantage. In the end Liverpool are a world ahead in terms of mentality and tactical awareness. Spurs also shouldn't have taken son off when they did... he's the only true goalscorer we have. I was stunned when he got taken off. In the end Liverpool are the second best team in the league and it's unfortunate for them they lost this game as they needed to make the most of city's loss. Spurs should have swapped kulu and Solomon so that they could actually have them use their stronger foot to cross from the byline, or the full backs needed to overlap.
Manager said Son wasn't feeling well but wanted to play so he allowed him 70 odd minutes, and took him off . Attempting to score against 9 men camped in their own half is difficult. These are not division 2/3 players.
@@horsemouthjones9060 you can't justify how clueless we were in playing against them... we played so into their hands it was ridiculous. You telling me that if city had a man advantage over Liverpool let alone 2 they'd have struggled to make chances... How can they be second best team when they sit in 4th position in the league table? As for how the game should have panned out, lots of people are armchair managers who have never managed a team professionally yet act like they know more than the manager
Nah, Ange did a solid job here. Only reason it looked close was a poor VAR call and Allison bailing out Liverpool like always. Easily could have been 4 or 5 for spurs.
should have added that Diaz and Salah inter change after Gakpo feel something on his leg, As he cannot pass long ball and Salah had to run at the centre to recover all the long balls. Diaz was main target man untill it was second half.
This match show many draw back of spurs system and now most of the team will try to use what Liverpool did but Liverpool did deserve win they fight harder even with 2 man down and that why they might be the favourite one to win pl and As city fan I can say we are struggling now but its story of every year for us so can't get us out of race but Liverpool what a game

The send offs are a result of the failed tactic to slow down Biss/Odoge. Not sure why Liverpool have any right to complain about failed game plan. The 2 beasts are unstoppable any other way so far in the PL this season. No one has got close to getting the better of them.
Great resilience from Liverpool but while anyone can lose a man to a red card, losing two shows a discipline problem. And it’s not a one-off either. Spurs we’re lucky but they also earned their OG by exhausting Liverpool’s defence. That clearance/OG was a tired, late movement.
Ange should have allowed overlapping and low endline crosses to get Liverpool facing their own goal. Spreads confusion and leads to defensive mistakes such as Matip made.
Disappointing to say the least. The offside decision was an obvious error. There's not much to talk about that. I just don't understand why they couldn't stop the game immediately after realizing their error to correct it. Man Utd was awarded a penalty against Brighton after the fulltime whistle in September 26, 2020. There's no reason to continue the game just to apologize later if your error is clear and obvious, and has a major impact onto the competition as a whole. I agree on Jota's second yellow but the first one was another mistake by the officials. Still, he should have been more careful. Jones' red card was a harsh decision. I don't think it was a red card but based on the video check material (one still image) given to the main ref, there was really no other outcome. They should have shown the whole incident in which Jones' foot clearly slips over the ball after a clear ball contact. The still image only told a fraction of the incident and the video check was not conclusive to be fair. Other incidents missed in the game. Udogie was on a yellow when he was witnessed signaling a yellow card to Jota. That should have been another yellow, given the harsh line. There were some harsh yellows shown to Liverpool. Robbo got a yellow when he was elbowed and Salah's yellow was unnecessary. Also, Gomez was brought down in the penalty box with a clear contact. No penalty, or even a VAR check. Van de Ven simply miskicked the ball and brought down Gomez. That was simply ignored. Liverpool performed superbly given the difficulties they faced in the game. The lads put up a fight and almost managed to get a point. To be completely honest, I think the match should be replayed due to blatant officiating errors. But, unfortunately, it's unlikely that justice is served in this league. I just hope that this match doesn't determine the title at the end of the season.
this (or these) won’t be the last absurd decision(s) in the prem, and spurs and city will be the receiving end of these really soon. mark my words, come back and cry when it happens.
He parked the bus and Spurs would've scored four or five if they varied their attacks more. I wouldn't give Klopp much credit at all but will say that Liverpool's defenders played well.
I think thats a bit mean giving Ange a 5 and all the big up to Klopp for basically parking the bus which is what any manager would do Its called damage limitation.. But you failed to have the insight or even mention Anges tactic of playing a 100 minutes and bombarding the defence again an again like Spitfires and Hurricane against the Germans this is what Ange instills into every player ,the players even said it them selves in the TV interview we play a 100 mins football .Defenses cant cope for 100 mins of football mistakes get made .There is no way Matip is scoring an own goal in the first 20 mins of play but in the 100th yes he is .That winning goal was 100% made by Ange and it won the game same as wee did in the 100th minute in the other game
One of the angles of the Curtis Jones tackle looks more like a block tackle between Bissouma and Jones. Bissouma gets more pressure to the ball and it peels under Jones' foot which has him then returning his foot to the ground and putting his studs to Bissouma's leg. The other angles look nasty though.
If Spurs had the bad calls would the narrative be the same? Pundits and others would be saying that Liverpool kept pushing and showed who they are a top club. Pushing all the way against 9 man Spurs. How even if Spurs had gotten the goal Liverpool would have still came back and won the game. No one is really giving credit to Spurs. Spurs still had to keep pushing to get the win. If they had drawn people would have been saying they bottled it against 9 men.
Well, the main issue here is the fact that the game was littered with unprecedented bad calls and Spurs benefitted. It doesn't make sense when you say the narrative would have been different if spurs had the bad calls. Truth is that they didn't and they benefitted immensely from that
The red card to Jones was absurd. It was not malicious, intentional, was not a high tackle, and his foot was reacting to kicking the ball. It’s football sometimes people might get hurt. If we cannot accept this then get rid of tackling.
1st Goal was sure shot onside 2nd Curtis had the ball first and wasn't intentional if u had to give him a card it was yellow 3rd Jota first foul if u carefully see it was Udogie doing Prime Neymar level Diving This kind of official calls are extremely poor and not acceptable. Referees of old could have given all the decision correctly without VAR. Now we don't even use VAR properly then what is the use of having VAR.
@@ramdinesh2219the Curtis one was a red cuz that can end careers, the other 2 decisions were horrendous, absolutely horrendous, coming from a city fan, these refs should be sacked instantly what were they doing?
For me both were reds jota was lucky not to get a yellow before the first one anyways. But that goal being disallowed is a farce. Parking the bus at a 2 man disadvantage isn’t that shocking. Struggling to score on 9 men as a quality side is. The winning goal was a quite good cross that Matip, unfortunately for him, put in his own net. And i don’t see how you can rate ange higher when he didn’t find a way to take advantage of the 2 reds sooner. Spurs played well, but the tactics of continuing to trying to force thru the block rather than (as the video said) abuse the man advantage on the wings with overlaps and such isn’t impressive tactics.
Jota first yellow was shocking, Udogie clearly tripped over himself. Jota second yellow was for sure a yellow but the other was not even a foul so a red should never have been given
I observed in 2-3 sequences where Liverpool baited Spurs in their half and then played a long ball for a counter-attack. They caught Spurs-napping in dead-ball situations as well (Diaz disallowed goal)
Football Made Simple, can you perhaps please analyze yesterday's Galatasaray victory against Man. United? I can already see the title "How Okan Buruk beat Erik Ten Hag" haha
Agree with everything in this video. Spurs did not look that threatening while even down a man, Liverpool still look the more dangerous side. Agree with your takes on the officiating. The Jones one was a soft red, but could still be argued as a red. The first Jota yellow was extremely bad, while the second one was a very silly challenge after being carded.
The Jota decision wasn't terrible because of the clear and obvious second yellow, it's the first yellow that everyone's questioning; contact was limited to very light inconsequential friction, and Udogie basically tripped over himself.
5 Vs 8.5 for coach 'tactical' analysis? A basic relegation zone low block isn't rocket science, mate. When they are down to 10 men, this is a standard setup for Liverpool (they are doing 10 man setups every couple of weeks with their dirty play). Just need a couple of fast players on the break to create an occasional chance. This is basic ConteBall, mate. Are you saying Liverpool are the old Spurs? Yes, Spurs didn't have the tools to pick the lock easily today due to the low block. Not as heroic as is made out, tbh. Johnson would have made a difference. A fit Son would also have made a difference. And don't forget, these guys have been together for 6 weeks. Do you think they have wasted any of that time practicing against 9/10 man setups at training or do you think they have spent a frantic 6-8 weeks learning how to play a completely new, risky strategy that only guarantees destruction if they get it wrong? AngeBall is a 2 month infant playing against fully grown adults. What do you think will happen when they hit their teenage years sometime next season. Looks like Celtic 2022/23 at half speed, atm. its just funny how liverpool stans think klopp his a tactical genius because he told players to sit in a low block and he thought I should use salahs pace to counter.@@alexanderomucheyi1857
In my opinion, VAR’s wrong decision was absolutely terrible, but other liverpool’s red or yellow cards were acceptable since it came from their harsh tackles or something else.(but Jota’s first yellow card could be controversial) Moreover I do not understand why you gave 5 stars to Ange, 8.5 stars to Klopp. Yeah, I agree that Klopp’s management was great, however, their both tactical scores have to be similar.
Jones’ red card is acceptable. There is the rule that whether it is intentional or not, if his or her acts was threatening opponents then it is definitely penalty.
@@lifefree-ms1pp Yeah the VAR was terrible. But the others are acceptable. I seriously can not understand why Jones’ penalty got controversial. That was absolute penalty. There are some people saying “liverpool got lots of cards so it is biased “ which sounds like 7 years old kid.
The scores don't have to be similar. You're playing the score (minus the own goal) and working backward to say that both managers performed at the same level. That's wrong and extremely lazy
Can't ever remember a losing team getting so much praise from fans and experts alike. Spurs won this game but didn't in a way. It showed that there is still a gap in class between these two teams because Spurs would have been on the end of a major beating if the roles had been reversed.
Imo it would've been easier for Spurs to win if Liverpool stayed on 11 men the whole match, the two red cards forced liverpool into an incredible low block consisting of some of the best defenders in the world which spurs found incredibly hard to break down and were lucky to do so.
Coached by a world class coach and the team full of mentality monsters, I wasn't surprised at all about the way Liverpool reacted towards those red cards
I disagree here! Spurs, if anything, had their worst game of the season and were short of ideas, especially at 9 men! At 11v11, Spurs were comfortably the best team and LFC struggled to cope with the movement & passing. I actually think Klopp totally underestimated Spurs and their arrogant, I'll-disciplined appproach is what cost them both goals and players! All they did was sit in with 9 men and condense the pitch, as Spurs kept failing to get the ball wide. This wasn't elite game-management. Because when Spurs finally went wide, they won!
Time and again, it seems that adversity only make the club play better, stronger. I was worried when 1-man down, but 2-man down, I knew we could sit deep and Spurs didn't have the chops to go through the middle after their best player, Son, went off, which they consistently did due to inexperience and exuberance. That one time they stretched the Liverpool backline, they scored after a tired Matip failed to clear. Damn proud of this Liverpool fight. Szoboslai+McAllister are a gem. Jones was unlucky as he tried to control n win possession instead of kicking ball away. His feet went over the ball n onto poor fella's leg. Deserved the red, and didn't deserve it at the same time. Jota was also unlucky. Both yellows were deserved, but a cool-headed ref might have given a super duper final stern warning for that last one and kept the game going. But it was a great match! Grats spurs for finding the winning goal.
