In this video, I rundown how I’ve packed out my tactical tailor three day plus assault pack to work in conjunction with my belt kit. Definitely not a permanent solution but it’s working well for what it is right now, and has the potential to work well for shorter duration missions. Enjoy! And stay tuned for more!

Get you a cheap dollar store plastic cutting board and cut it in the shape of the back of the pack. Stick it in with Velcro or just jam it in there and place it between the back of the pack and the water bladder. That will give it some rigidity and take some of the feeling away from the bladder against your back.

I recently took a medium Alice pack and Molle 2 medium assault pack frame. Chopped about 3 inches off the top of the frame, to make it short an stubby. Now it rides perfect on the buttpack and gives more support when loaded out. Compared to the frame sheet I was using.

Glad you’re switching to a dg3. The best suspension and frame system out there. Used mystery ranch, guccied out Alice packs, had the TT 3DAPP, LBT bags, eagle bags, but the dg3 is here to stay. Did a 9 mile the other day with 2 river crossings and the 60lb load in my pack melted away. Didn’t even feel like it was there. I have a valkor 3 day if you’re interested in trying it. Like your TT bag but a little bigger, better layout and has aluminum frame stays. I also have a battle labs 5 day assault pack you can try out if you want too and the dg3 doesn’t work. (It definitely should. Hence why I’m openly offering up my other bags)

Thanks for the content dude. Not having a frame, I would suggest you go to Grey Man Tactical and get a rigid Molle panel insert that will fit the dimensions of your pack. They have a ton to choose from, and it will add some rigidity to your pack if you size it properly. Will also help keep you from feeling that bladder against your back. Hope that helps dude!

Bongo Gear has the Becker Patrol Pack Mark II, it seems like a cross between a compact version of the Alice Medium and a USMC FILBE Assault Pack with some sustainment pouches. It might be worth a look. Only downside I can see is the harness style shoulder straps in the event you wear it over body armor, but it may spark inspiration for a tailored solution in the 40L range.

One thing i did was use a nitelze packing cube to act almost like an internal pack frame. Still haven’t found a concrete solution just kinda getting buy with running a med alice without frame and relying on the buttpack harness to carry the load.

I use the eberly little brother pack from my skycrane 2 and it’s sits perfectly on top of the but pack. It also is little taller on top compared to most similar size pack no to dissimilar to a hiking pack vs a regular 3 day in a sense. Works way better then sim other packs I tried. get a hammock and delete the sleeping pad, way less cumbersome. SOS rations are way lighter and smaller than MREs, you can fit 6 days worth in a SAW pouch. but they're near flavorless, so keep the hot sauce & snacks handy.
@TheGruntPerspective
@TheGruntPerspective 11 месяцев назад
Hammocks are going to be a no-go for infantrymen. It takes to long to setup and take down in a hurry. It also requires you to be high off the ground and thus spotted easier by someone else.
@or6060
@or6060 11 месяцев назад
@@TheGruntPerspective it's super easy to get a pre strung system that just requires you use two carabiners to set it up fast. and there's no reason why you can't pull it taught and hang it low to the ground. and you can get a whole self-contained hammock with a built in rain cover so you don't need to setup a tarp. or you could put a bivy in the hammock.
@zachmcwilliams8412
@zachmcwilliams8412 11 месяцев назад
We don’t pack for camping, we pack for combat. Hammocks are a no go for obvious reasons. Yes, you’re right about the benefits but camouflage and concealment are more important. Not only that, tad bit hard to set up a hammock in a desert or urban environment… during combat ops. Poncho liner is king! Yut.
@or6060
@or6060 11 месяцев назад
@@zachmcwilliams8412 someone already said most of that, they're non-issues. all you need in a treeless environment are two small sticks or poles of some type. look into how people actually set up hammocks. also i'm talking about shelters, not insulation. dunno how a poncho liner is incompatible with a hammock
@zachmcwilliams8412
@zachmcwilliams8412 11 месяцев назад
@@or6060 You’re missing the biggest point…. Camping doesn’t equate to combat. We can’t just “throw two poles up and pitch a hammock”. Hence why poncho liner is king. If we get 15 mins to sleep, a poncho liner is the only thing that we can usually grab… if anything at all.
