Turkey season is just about here and the 12 gauge Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey is here to save the day. The short 18.5 barrel makes it very handy for hiking around and climbing up and down hills, the dedicated optics cut it one of the best features on any shotgun and ensures that with any RMSc optic you get proper eye alignment and being able to zero a optic to the super tight pattern of the X-Factor extra extra full turkey choke tube. The stock is adjustable for length of pull and is "Quick Draining", yeah I'm not quite sure how it achieves this. The camo is a handsome tiger stripe like base with idealized Paul Gauguin like branch and leaf art on top and is some variation of the many Mossy Oak patterns. The 940 Pro Turkey can accept 5 rounds of 12ga but of course has a plug in it to limit that for state regulations. Reliability was great with it chewing through target loads, buckshot and turkey loads with out a hiccup save for one user induced failure due to my inability to find the hole. Turkey loads patterned far better than I expected the 18.5 barrel to and also has the added benefit of being able to flex into the home defense role easily when turkey season is over. The 940 Pro Turkey doesn't have to be a dedicated turkey slayer, it can carry out multiple missions. The Holosun 407K performed great as expected and it a phenomenal addition from the factory. As with any auto loading shotgun, light chihuahua fart target loads are probably not going to cycle it, but Winchester Double A target loads cycled with no issue at all. If you're looking for a turkey gun that the 940 Pro Turkey is not one to be passed over. Mossberg seems to have a winner on their hands here.
