In this episode i drived from Dushanbe over the main Pamir routw (M41) to Osh. The first etappe was to Kalaikul over a 3200m Pass with very bad roads.on the way I had to cross some passages that was overfloated by water and cross a small river. In the near of the Pass the street was very quiet and beautiful, especially at the decent.
The secound etappe to Khorog was very busy and the street damaged by the trucks, that had agitated the sand, so that the view sometimes was under 5m, also I drived truth a small Sandstorm. The road followed always the Tadschik-Afghan border, which was only seperated by a river. on th afghan you can theoretically drive the same route but on a smaller street, that wasnt so busy.
The third etappe was in my opinion the beatifullest part of the whole Pamir Highway. It was first a climb on very well asphalted streets on 100km . after that you are on a altitute of 4000m where the views are only amazing with nice mountains and very barren areas, with some cows and goats. On 200km you wont find any village so you have to take enought food with you. Water you will find everywhere in Tadschikistan at small rivers or in the near of ice fields,
From murghat it goes then over the highest Pass of 4655m, where it is very hard to breath, but the views are very speciall and awesome. At the decent me and my travel partners from germany founded a ruin villa where we could sleeped, protected from wind and rain(snow).Up to the border to Kirgistan the street is on some parts very bad and the weather sometimes very cold, windy and wet. The landscapes very barry and interesting from the colors.
In Kirgistan than everything gets much greener and you will see many Yurte-tents with horseriderers, cows an goats. To Osh it goes manly down to 850 m but you have to cross to passes and drive totally 3000m up.
