I'm Italian, and I can say that Tae-Joong Yang has an excellent italian diction. In this perdormance, he really looks like a native speaker. Excellent work Tae-Joong Yang!!! Great Performer!!! BRAVO!
when he says "per caritá" he actually says "per caRRItá"... with a hard R instead of soft R. at 3:37 and 3:45 I'm Mexican and in so many words we pronounce the same ways as you (Spanish-Italian)...
Well, he sure doesn't LOOK like a native speaker, but he does SOUND like one. One of my favorite songs, ever!! And Leo Nucci is one of my favorite interpreters of this opera. I'm not Italian. Brazilian from an Italian family.
3:00 in contrast to 3:02 is an amazing display of voice control. Absolutely love this man's singing. I hope to hear him live in concert one day. Let's get this pandemic under wraps!!!! Give it 5 years hopefully.....
+Reilly Lagemann This is good, Hvorostovsky is good...but Thaomas hampson's interpretation is far better. Hampsons pronounciation is very good, you cab actualy her every word he sings, Yang and Hvorostvsky can hardly pronounce the lyrics in a right way. They even "jibber" sometimes. Just look for Thomas Hampsons version ( with lyrics) !
+Harrie de Beuker I concur, though I think that some native like Luigi Alva or Gino Quilico surpassed hampson.. Personally my favourite interpretation will be by Sherrill Milnes, but to each his own :)
Wow! What a big, gorgeous voice! I’m always impressed when a singer I think because they are slender, would be a tenor, and those who are really beefy, I think they would be a baritone - but I’m often wrong, such as here. He is a joy to watch and hear.
"I'm Figaro! I am the most sought after barber in the city. Men, women and boys want me. What a pleasure to work like this. I am a high quality barber. Everyone appreciates me, I am the most famous. A little patience, one at a time! I will please everyone!"
+Ben Garrison The only part I disagree with you on is his vocal strength. he's hard to hear in some sections with the accompaniment and it's sadly not as strong as it could be. Dmitri Aleksandrovich Hvorotovsky is quite strong for example.
Great to see that you are an opera fan Mr. Garrison, as I am also a great fan of your political and cultural artwork which IMO is the best in the USA if not the world.
I can confirm about his diction. I'm italian too and i can say that he's great, probably the best i've heard till now. About his voice... well, what can i say? I'm no expert about opera, i can just say i'm amazed. BRAVISSIMO!
This was extremely beautifully sung! Does anyone else hear a tenor? Unless he’s a REALLY light baritone, he has tenor-like qualities in terms of brightness in his voice.
I have listened to all of the renditions of this beautiful song on RU-vid (I think, I hope..so far). This man’s rendition is my favorite. It just calls to me. Bravo
What a show, from italy i can truly say what a voice and pronunciation, i can't stop hearing that, largo al factotum for me is the best aria ever singed.
What a clear, splendid, and youthful sound.Korea seems to produce great baritones and this guy is clearly no exception. Provided he looks after his reed he should go a long way.Not only that he's got great stage presence.
ENDLESS BRAVO !!! FANTASTIC BARITONE !!! FANTASTIC ACTOR !!! BRAVO Dear Tae-Joong !!! FANTASTIC MUSICIANS !!! FANTASTIC Maestro !!! I love You endless !!! God bless You !!! God bless Your fantastic talents !!! Always with a lot of love and light N.Mirkova and friends from Sofia - Bulgaria
I found this clip just because I happened to see him singing this song live in Christmas Gala concert in Seoul, Korea 2 days ago and It just blew my mind away. I didn't know him before the concert even though I am a Korean. I see lots of people here praising his performance on this clip but trust me. This recorded performance doesn't do any justice. In live performance, he is FAR BETTER than this clip. It is recorded 13years ago and over time, he seemed only got better. Some people commented about lack of power but while he was singing this song, for the first time in my operatic concert experience, I was momentarily worried about my eardrum as his vocal volume was so massive. What an experience! He is now tied to Veinna Staatsoper as a full time employee so I guess the only way to see him more is to go there. Hope to see him more often even as in video clip and do hope he come to Korea and take full operatic role in near future. Best wishes for this talented singer!
DIVINE !!! BRAVO !!! SIMPLY FANTASTIC !!! THANK You FOR THE BIG PLEASURE !!! BRAVO Dear Tae-Joong Yang !!! GOD BLESS You !!! GOD BLESS Your FANTASTIC TALENT !!! THE PLASURE IS FUL !!! ALWAYS WITH A LOT OF LOVE AND LIGHT Your ETERNAL FANS Nadya Mirkova and friends from Sofia - Bulgaria
SUPEEEEER !!! BRAVO KOREA !!! DEAR Tae-Joong Yang, HAPPY NEW 2016 !!! BIG, BIG, BIG THANK YOU FOR THE BIG PLEASURE !!! ALL MY FRIENDS AND I WAIT YOUR FANTASTIC CONCERTS IN SOFIA !!! HEART GREETINGS FROM SOFIA - BULGARIA

I don't even remember the last time I watched a symphony orchestra perform live --- it's so long ago. WOW, I wish I could sing like that! Or to even perform any of the instruments -- amazing!
